It's verging on embarrassing at times. The theories over totally normal, nothing stills or whatever absolutely astounds me. Not everything has a bloody hidden meaning.

Edit - see above

It's almost like - gasp! - it's fun to do. Why be balls deep in a trailer thread if you didn't want to see speculation.

huh
the fuck is wrong with some of you people?

Obviously there's something wrong with me if this is considered normal behavior.

Bunch of grown ups crying over a god damned movie trailer. Yeah it's cool and yeah it's Star Wars, but crying over it? Like, legit tears? Over a fucking movie trailer.

Yup, definitely something wrong with me.

I shed tears and without a doubt millions of other people did.

It must suck to be so cynical.

Lmao

Holy shit is that Cloud's Buster Sword on the third one from the left?

More seriously, the fifth one from the left looks kinda like it could be a woman. I'm getting FFXII Judge vibes from that whole group.
FFXII Judges was the absolute first thing I thought of when I first saw this... but I don't wanna go there. I seriously don't expect these dudes to be developed at all, except for the main bad guy of course.

Different people have different reactions to stuff, so what? Some people cry and get emotional when something makes them happy and sometimes that something can be a movie trailer.

I know that, but I never really understood why that happened.

Well, in reality, it was because it was choreographed that way. Story-wise, both Obi and Vader were so distressed at that point that they simply stopped paying attention to what they were doing and actually started to wreck the control room with their sloppy sword-play, causing both of them to continue fighting outside in the lava.

And the dumbest post of this thread is official.

I'm not even going to argue with you, let me pretend that I actually agree with you here. Yes, crying from watching a trailer that brings so back so many memories is absolutely pathetic.

Yes.

It doesn't take some histrionic hyper-geekery to get emotional over a trailer like this. Decades of memories here, dude. I believe that trailer will naturally have an emotional effect on millions of people around the world.

its totally cool if you don't cry, you like Star Wars man that's cool with me. Star Wars for me is my childhood, hope.. my uncle my friends.. its represents so much to me.

so yeah I maybe got a little teary eyed, its not crying like when you lose a loved one it just pure JOY.

makes me feel like a kid again.

but whatever man keep it up.

Just like the Judges then.
I meant, because of development issues, they HAD to be dumbed down. With the bad guys in the background, I'm expecting ZERO dialogue. I mean, they'll most likely get killed within the next scene.

I don't think they're gonna be a badass evil team for long. I think Kylo outgrows them and leaves them behind.

It's called passion. People have a passion for things. People cry over football. I can't relate as I don't personally care about it and just see it as people playing ball, but I get that others are passionate about it which can lead to emotional response. This is not complicated.

It's a huge level of nostalgia for a great deal of people. Tons of people grew up with Star Wars being a very big part of their childhood and seeing stuff like this brings up a great deal of emotions. It's really not that strange for someone to well up with emotion when they are getting a nostalgia punch in the face.

I wonder if Episode 7 will be the first time a blue lightsaber wins a duel

How old is John Williams by the way? Are we sure he didn't train somebody to copy his style or something ridiculous like that? The guy must be ancient by now, it's crazy.

Star Wars all over this forum's face

It's starting to get kind of confusing to be honest but there's enough discussion to go around right now, give it a few days and it should fall back into the regular threads.

Also everyone please remember there is indeed a spoiler thread specifically for spoilers.

God forbid, but there is another...

Michael Giacchino

I'm in the exact same position. No tears here.

Maybe there is something wrong with me.

they are definitely playing a game with Rey, her placement on the poster is interesting too.

Yeah, it makes it look like she's the one holding a red lightsaber too

You guys are over-reacting.

Color denoting whether you are good or not only matters in lightsabers, not lasers. Rebels have always had red lasers, while the Imperials had green lasers. That doesn't mean the Rebels were the bad guys.

And of course, Finn has the blue side of the poster because he's male; while Rey is in the red side because she's female. They are simply contrasting colors to make it look more attractive and to make each of the main stars stand out, because you don't want both main characters to be under the same color because they will blend and not effectively fulfill contractual obligations.

I think JetBlack was referring to the actual poster
I think

I think he understands that people can be passionate. He's not judging people for being excited or happy. He's judging the fact that people can be so passionate about something like this to the point that it brings them to tears. He's probably trying to imply there's something seriously wrong with those people, to the point that they might be compensating for the emptiness in their lives with meaningless things that will never truly fill those holes. That, or he just thinks they're juveniles.

Edit:

I'm in the exact same position. No tears here.

Don't hold back Oldest Snake.

Is there something really wrong with you? Or is there something wrong with the world that we live in? Or maybe it's our society?

When I first heard "Knights of Ren" I thought they were meant to be the new Sith, and Kylo was just a member -- and like "darth" was a title for the Sith, "Ren" would be a title for Knights.

But looking at that shot of them, with Kylo front and center and the only one wielding a lightsaber, I wonder if the Knights aren't a group that he joined but a group that he founded? And that Ren isn't a title, it's just a name, and the Knights are named after him because they're his apprentices.

Don't worry.
That won't happen until Episode VIII if history serves. Luke loses his in Empire Strikes Back, Anakin loses his in Attack of the Clones. So Finn will lose his in whatever Episode VIII is called.
(Speculation of course)

Also what ElectricBlanketFire said above. Why would this even need to be spoilered? It's an observation and a thing that happens every time.
There's no reason to not think it won't again.
It's fully expected really.

Depending on their stated purpose, it's possible that he could simply be the only Force user in their ranks, or at least the only one who's physically capable of wielding a lightsaber. There's no need for everyone to have lightsabers or be Force users just because they're affiliated with a lightsaber-wielding Force user.
