oh god, so sweet, superstar over night. =)

This has to be so surreal for both Boyega and Daisy. I mean their lives and careers will no doubt change forever. They are now immortalized in probably the biggest franchise on the planet. Their names and faces will recognized for many years to come.

Cheesy as it sounds the trailer reactions are my favourite part :3

Hopefully in a Mark Hamill sort of way, not a Jake Lloyd way.

Lol well of course. but something tells me this movie will at least be good and that's all it needs to be. It'll never live up to the ridiculous hype but I think this movie will kickstart a new hope into the franchise. (no pun intended)

I think I may have figured out the timeline and if so, this story is awesome. If not, it's most likely still going to be awesome with these mixed up.

I may be totally off with some of these theories. Just total guesses and that's assuming the trailer is in chronological order which it may not be at all. But I think it goes Fire Planet > Desert Planet > Forest Planet > Snow Planet.

- Introduce Kylo Ren, New Order, and Finn.
- Fire Planet. Massacre. This is where Finn's mind changes. Brief moment of Luke appearing at the end but his face is never revealed. He fucks shit up.
- Finn Escapes
- Kylo Ren suspects he may be a force attuned individual / potential Jedi of maybe some prophecy and goes to hunt Finn.
- Introduce Rey, we don't find out here but I think she is daughter of Han and Leia. (I think this due to the han and leia love music being played with Rey)
- Some adventures that bring Finn and Rey together
- New Order shows up hunting for Finn.
- Han saves the day rescuing Finn and Rey.
- Escape to meet up with the Rebels on the forest planet.
- Han re-unites with Leia.
- Finn and Rey meet Poe. Character building.
- Rebels are attacking New Order or New Order attacks them. Either way, battle.
- Han dies, most likely sacrificing himself for Rey revealing to her that he's her father.
- Rebels escape (thanks to Han's sacrifice) but Poe is captured.
- Kylo Ren blows up the forest planet using Death Star 3 where Poe is most likely from.
- Poe is tortured and shown his planet blowing up.
- Unbeknown to us (this is setting up an Episode VIII story), Kylo Ren has turned Poe (thus setting up the "dark side" Poe vs the "light side" Finn - my guess just based on the dialogue happening when both Finn and Poe look at each other).
- Snow Planet battle to save Poe and destroy Death Star 3.
- Kylo Ren finally finds Finn and encounters him thinking he is the force attuned / potential Jedi to hunt down and kill.
- Finn fights Kylo Ren and loses.
- Rey picks up the lightsaber to defend Finn revealing she's the one who actually is the who's force attuned.
- Luke saves the day. Kylo Ren escapes. Luke says "The force runs strong in my family, my father had it, my sister has it, and my niece has it". Boom. Set up Episode VIII where Luke trains Rey.

EDIT - I spoilered it, not because I know any spoilers, but some people may not want to read theories.

So like....what happened? lol Doesn't look like a dog fight happening anywhere

I don't know about any spoilers so I don't know how accurate this is, but here goes my "theory" as it were.

We learned from the initial teaser that Finn was originally a trooper with the First Order.

In the second teaser we saw a TIE Fighter wreck some troopers in a hangar bay.

In the trailer we hear Finn saying he was trained to do one thing all of his life but now doesn't have anything to fight for. I take that to mean he has become disillusioned with the First Order and deserted them and that he was the one in TIE Fighter that wrecked all them troopers, doing so in the process of his desertion.

Finn escapes from the ship but gets shot down and crash lands on that desert planet Rey is on and their story unfolds from there.

I'm guessing that Finn deserted the First Order because he learns how evil they are, probably because he uncovers Deathstar MKIII.

Spoilered in case it bothers people.

How the fuck did they get Darth Vaders mask, I keep asking myself that question

Ill be proven wrong but have they ever done flashbacks in SW? I honestly cant remember off the top of my head, it doesnt sound right to do one, I wonder if there will even be an explanation.

Same goes for Anakins saber, though thats simpler, you can just pawn that off to someone finding it on Bespin.

I mean I guess a shady Ewok could have stolen and sold Vaders mask...

I love the surprise honestly, everyone was so sure BB8 was CGI, nope, when I saw that red Robot I thought CGI and was told different, its incredible to me the lengths they are going to, theres no need to go to the extra effort but they are doing it because, frankly, it will hold up better and does fool the eyes.

Lupitas character will be interesting being ALL CGI, would like to see it in motion, I know the performance will be great at least.

Well I wasn't. I kind of knew that BB-8 was practical. As for the Robot, I wasn't sure whether that was practical or CGI. As I said before, huge fan of CGI, and Practical. I love them both. I find this whole marketing about Practical Effect tend to be going overboard for me. It's never been a whole CGI vs. Practical for me. If a movie uses more CGI effects that fine, if a movie uses more Practical effects that's fine too.

As for the CGI. That's some amazing effects at work. It looks amazing, and what I expect Star Wars to look like in 2015.

As for the other shots of the trailer I liked:

The close up of Rey covered up face. I thought that look awesome.

The close up of Finn's face

The close up of Kylo Ren's face

The TIE Fighter getting shot down

The
Knights of Ren, I am pretty sure that's them.

I just like Kylo voice.

The CGI for the ships battles is amazing.

I love the look of the planets so far.

I really love how dense the battles are.

I'll add more when I rewatch it.

Overall, I am excited. Got my midnight tickets and am watching this.

That's what I love about this trailer. It literally poses more questions. What is Ren's plan? I don't want an answer but the trailer does a great job of telling you absolutely nothing.

As for your flashback question. I don't think there has been one done but I wouldn't be shocked if there is some sort of "vision" enabled by the force that happens.

Like the pics and gifs of them have me actually rooting for dudes. Looking so disrespectful on some goon shit

So much fanfic, but only one saber

Always had this rule of two for sith, never more than that, I wonder if any of these other than Kylo are force sensitive, I really hope so, a genuine squad of sith would be awesome going forward.

Can someone school me on IMAX theaters for movies that are not shot in IMAX? I don't want to see this in IMAX if the screen will be cropped.

One thing I took from the prequels was the idea that the timeline could be skewed, it changed the rules, Original trilogy was always in the moment, you switched between different groups but never any indication you were seeing the future (Luke COULD see the future, but it was never SHOWN to the audience). In Clones however you have Anakin dreaming about the future, which I genuinely hated because I felt it violated a thematic rule that was set, but I guess if George sets the rule its the rule and trumps whatever I think.

Could they do a flashback? I suppose, I kind of hope they dont because its never happened in 6 films.

The YouTube video has over 18 million views already. They're making money off that, right?

Seems weird:
Put a commercial on TV, pay money.
Put a commercial on YouTube, make money.

(I know people pay to have "real" ads on youtube)

Sounds like Lupita to me.

It's Lupita. She opens and closes the trailer.

Dunno how anyone could think that was Carrie Fisher.

1) there's an obvious accent
2) It doesn't sound like gravel.

Also, people should probably stop spoilering their speculation, as people keep putting actual spoilers under tags, and if you start training people to see those black bars and think it's probalby not going to be actual spoilers in there, you're going to fuck it up for people.

If you're just guessing based on trailers, then you're not posting spoilers. Don't put spoiler tags over your guess. It's not helpful, it's confusing.

If you're actually spoiling something, don't post that shit in here, go to the spoiler thread in community.

Basically - there's really no reason for black bars, I guess.

The new TIE fighters have this red streak/section, wondering if there's an functional reason for that, or if it's just aesthetic. One thing about the new ones is that
there's room for a pilot on both sides (lego set reveals this)
, I wonder if there were TIE models in the OT that had this, think not.

There is also a point in the trailer where
it seems that the TIE fighter is shooting backwards.

It could just be someone in Mandolorian armor.

I guess it depends what the Knights of Ren actually are, we know 100% Kylo is a fanboy, maybe all of them are fanboys? Perhaps its a haven for a "certain type" of person. Or perhaps they are Sith?

Would genuinely surprise me if they had actual ties to Boba

There's no Sith in the film according to JJ. Just the Knights of Ren and whatever Supreme Leader Snoke is.

Yea I doubt they have ties to Boba. For all we know he's dead right now. Like you said. Ren clearly idolizes Vader

But there are jedi? I guess it comes down to what is a Sith and what is Jedi, Luke is a Jedi, thats all we know.

I cant see how, unless theres some shenanigans where one character has been a "secretly trained jedi" any of the main characters can go from nothing to jedi in one film, its rediculous to me.

The crying bit probably. Seems to suggest someone kicks the bucket.
And yeah, the Knight of Ren probably just found a Mandalorian helmet. There were plenty of them about.

Ah

Honestly I took it as someone getting the shit kicked out of them, but yeah someone probably dies. It is Star Wars after all.

Doesn't seem to be, as Han explicitly has to tell Finn and Rey that they're real.

Exactly, that is a title you have to earn, Luke had to earn it through three films and he existed in a time where there were two to teach him, all we have now is one Jedi in existence and he could be unstable.

But I guess we could just be using blanket terms for Jedi being "Good leaning force sensitive" and Sith being "Bad leaning force sensitive"

Actually the thing that throws off my timeline kind of is the whole Lupita's character dialogue.

I have a feeling that occurs on forest planet and is directed towards Finn but Rey is the one revealed at the end.
