Prequel Anakin becomes a lot better if you watch the Clone Wars/Rebels series. Lot of stuff there the prequels NEEDED.

Just cause I don't know you or your pass but from what I was taught in the military and my experience, button, gun, or knife. It doesn't matter. Once you cross that line it's all the same and your thoughts are going to consume you regardless until you find some reasoning or you go insane. The method and consequences and things we think is just stuff we tell ourselves to cope.

How that applies to Vader? The thought of losing everything he loved consumed him to the point of committing those atrocities as Anikin. Pushing a button or using a shank on people he knows or doesn't know doesn't mean anything to him because he did away with those thoughts as Vader. Until he met Luke.

That's how I see Vader/Anikin atleast.

I've served in the military and my judgement is that it's much easier to kill faceless people than kill people that are looking you in the eye. You might find this book interesting.

I think they are trying to avoid that actors and CG creatues appear on the same screen to a minimum. The robots are supposed to be non-CG for the most time.

Poe is supposedly one of the best pilots in the galaxy and didn't Qui Gon say that Anakin was such a good pilot because he was force sensitive (allowing him to almost predict/see what is going to happen before it actually does).

If Poe really is such a great pilot then I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to have him be force sensitive - it anything it would be stranger if he wasn't...

You're right - the force of the explosion knocks the dome up a bit, but not enough so that it doesn't get caught when it falls back down.

Considering they dock in X-wings, those are some pretty strong electromagnets...

On topic, I showed the trailer to my 11 year old this morning before I sent her to school and to say that she's beyond estactic is an understatement. Her only complaint is that it's too far away. She said she can't wait to tell her friends about it.

I am not really a fan of using "Force sensitivity" as the fundamental reason for somebody being skilled in something.
 
The music from the trailer is still stuck in my head two days later and that almost never happens to me with trailers. It just feels like it could be a soundtrack for life, like it could go with almost anything.

That are a few people that have been in direct contact with Luke - not the entire rebellion. Many of whom died during the attack run. And not enough to keep a religion running across a galaxy, especially if we are to believe that Luke made a monk and disappeared without further prove of the force.

Me either. Can we have one main character who's specialness isn't defined on his relationship to the fuckin' Force? How about just hard work and dedication? Human ingenuity and skill? Can a man just be a really good pilot in his own regard?

Wedge Antilles is a great pilot but I don't think he's Force-sensitive.

It may not be the force of the explosion, it could be an "oh shit" type thing to be honest.

It would be explained by the fact that the whole "having to train for it" idea came 22 years after the "Anakin is a Force ghost" idea.

The idea of multiple force sensitive leads isn't odd.

Our 3 leads in the prequels: Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan. 2/3 force sensitive

Our 3 leads in the originals: Luke, Leia, Han. 2/3 force sensitive.
 
OK, I know meatier plot details are out there so this level of speculation is daft BUUUUT

what if, yeah, all 3 leads are Force sensitive, and Kylo Ren gets brought to the Light Side

and then they go about trying to re-establish some sort of Jedi Order

and then Luke as all "yeah, how about no" and that's how he becomes the "villain", trying to stop the birth of a new generation of fucking idiots with lightsabers
 
I just like the idea of having a really good pilot who isn't in all this mythical Force bullshit/SECRET JEDI ACADEMY/KNIGHTS OF REN BACKSTORY/WHO ARE HIS PARENTS/etc. Like a more developed version of Wedge. Good ol' human accomplishment. Somebody who has a key role in all three acts without being, like, THE ONE or related to the One or whatever.

Honestly, if "force sensitivity" is casually divorced from midichlorians forever from here out, I think the special snowflake issue is largely rectified. A hero's journey story usually involves some powerful magic the hero uses that makes them stand out, make them be the "chosen one." However, the way this was handled in the original trilogy was satisfying because the force was something everywhere accessible but immensively powerful which could be utilized through training and self control. Turning the force into special snowflake immaculate conception shit in the prequels wasn't just bizarrely stupid, it was counter to the whole point. One feels like a bad anime about breeding super cattle, the other feels like a martial arts movie in space.
