Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

If anyone is interested in a rather thorough (almost 1 hour) retrospective/analysis of Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, 3, New Vegas, and their DLCs to get ready for this very exciting upcoming release, I highly recommend this one from Noah Caldwell-Gervais.

It's the first video he ever did, so the production values are hit or miss, but he knows what he's talking about and I love his style.

everybody report this guy

I just blocked him a long time ago. He only comes into fallout threads to shit on Bethesda' fallouts. I get the feeling he's a fan of the old games that can't move on. I wish those guys would realize they would be more productive doing stuff like supporting games like wasteland 2 because the old fallouts are not coming back no matter how bitter they are. It's been more than 7 years now, move on already.

Will this game actually function on consoles this time? Gone gold or gone broke?

Game worked fine on XBOX360. I had no problem completing FO3. Broken and buggy are not the same thing. Seems like this needs mentioning every thread for folks who think they are clever.

Quick question -

I know that you create your character at the start of the game but I wanted to know if there's "preset" characters that you can select instead? Thanks.

Always. Can play as the male and female seen in the trailers/E3 walkthrough.

haha what a deadbeat loser! I'll ignore him too

Great vid. Watching the New Vegas footage just makes me worried for F4. At 38:45, I begin to fear what Bethesda is doing with F4. The dialogue system in F4 will not be capable of the stuff you see at 38:45.

Gone shit more like.

Gone shit more like.

I remember when shitting up a thread with drive-by posts and no context was a bannable offense.

Whatever, Who wants to bet on how long till the first nude mod comes out?

IIRC Skyrim lasted for about 4-ish days, maybe 2.

I'm putting my money on no more than 48 hours.

Do we know how Steam is supporting the game? Same as Skyrim with subscribing to mods and stuff? I use Nexus, but it's good to make things more accessible, imo.

Of course it will. It'll work just like it does in Mass Effect or Dragon Age.

Honestly that wall of text just looks unorganized as fuck. It doesn't scream "Immersion. . ." it just says "We didn't have time to clean up this shit so here's all the dialogue choices at once."

There's no reason that couldn't have been cleaned up into saying "About the Omertas..." and then have another menu showing them options for them. Having 15+ options in one menu is silly.

lol the day a nude mod gets put on consoles

As to metacritic prediction? Y'all crazy if you think the game will get anything less than a 88.

Bethesda titles may end up having some game breaking bug that people find eventually, but the likelyhood a reviewer finds it is slim to none.

I remember when people here didn't get salty when someone doesn't like thing they like... No wait, I don't.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong because I adore the IP, but I'm not hopeful after the fiasco that was Fallout 3.

12 hours.

Personally I don't care about the comment, but I'd say just tone it down if you don't want people just ganging up on you. This is basically doubling as the hype thread so it's no surprise people are quoting you over and over again.

Wasn't there a guy who, when the new Thief came out, would go to every thread to basically tell everybody how shitty it was and outright call them out if they were playing it? Nobody wants to be that guy. And I'm not saying you are, I'm just pointing out that it does lead to negativity.

Come on now. Your comment was classic drive-by shit-post baiting. People called you on it, and now you're all of a sudden shocked and pointing the finger back on others as if they are the "problem". It was a stupid lazyily delivered post, whose intent could have actually been communicated better and with some humor if you had any interest in being clever than just being cute.

Fallout 3 was fine? I am all for people coming in and expressing their own dislike of aspects of a game, but just randomly coming in and posting ""Game" has gone shit is more like it" adds nothing to discussion and only comes off as a drive by troll attempt.

He was doing it for the responses, just to get people riled up. Let's Just ignore him and let's move on!

Loving the new avatar btw Admiral!

Is this okay? Really? We're just ignoring this?

If you've been following the Fallout 4 threads you'd recognize Octavianus as one of the most vile Fallout haters on these boards. At first he used to annoy me but just thinking about how many millions of copies this game will sell (despite it being "shit") and how mad that will make him, makes me happy.

It's a stunningly bad bit of UI design and I can't believe someone actually laments that removal in FO4. However there were people that saw four dialog options mapped to four face buttons and assumed THAT was the extent of choice in the game. As if submenus or actual branching conversations aren't a thing.

My comment was no more lazy than the zillions of classic "whoopie! I"m getting this shit get on the hype train!" drive-by shit posts and yet no one has a problem with those.

Fallout 3 was far from fine but I think it's problems have been explained more times than I can count so I'm not going to bother with it yet again.

I thought that sort of shit was a bannable offense.
It is, isn't it? Report him.

Take a look at the amount of people that either, took offence at what you wrote, or thought it was unacceptable. What you wrote was worse than that, if not just for the fact you've come into a hype thread and posted what you posted.

Come guys, where's the hype train?

I'm actually surprised there isn't more hype. Frakin Fallout 4 comes out in 2 weeks. Holy hell I've been waiting for this moment for years.
It'll get there, I remember being on Reddit, (wasn't on GAF then) when all that Survivor hoax stuff was going around, the hype was immense.

I remember Fallout 3 being the game that brought me into the series.

Picked it up used on the X360, not expecting much, but was blown away by how much I enjoyed the game. The exploration, the character building, perks and such. For all its flaws, I was hooked from beginning to end. New Vegas proved even better. :)

Bring on Fallout 4. I'm expecting to enjoy this as much as the previous titles.

Very excited! Fallout 3 was one of my favorite games of all time. A little nervous that this won't quite live up to expectations though. Based on the footage shown and impressions. Looks like an awesome game but maybe not mind blowing like Fallout 3 was for me when it released. Hoping for the best.

Any Meta Score predictions? I'll say 88. Fantastic but a bit disappointing and not the year's best.

92, it will be over 90 for sure.

i think there's no visible hype right now because it's still a couple of weeks away. You can bet jurassic the OT will have a lot of life.

As to hype trains I thought mods said those aren't cool anymore.

Awfully you mean? Nothing is as immersive as constantly being surprised by your choice of dialogue. Either give me full information regarding the choices presented when it comes to picking a dialogue option or don't give me an option at all. Both are perfectly fine approaches in an RPG. Just don't give me muddled choices.

Seriously? Hype trains aren't allowed? Gotta go with the flow I guess. Yeah anyway, I think your right, next week and especially in the OT, that's where the hype will be.

I don't guess why people are assuming this game will land in the 80s on Metacritic. I mean, really?

MGSV is at 95. Just let that sink in. MGSV is a piece of shit.

For fucks sake, Fallout 3 is at 90-93 depending on platform, despite being just about as horribly buggy as New Vegas at launch, and going by how the dev team describes the game and their ambitions for it in interviews available on Bethesda's Youtube channel, Fallout 4 is all but guaranteed to shit on Fallout 3 from astounding heights.

Had the same kind of experience. I had no clue about Fallout at all. I was bored and was looking for a new rpg to play on my PS3. Must have been about 2009. Stumbled across a review for Fallout 3 on IGN. I wasn't sure if I would be interested since it was part of a series and this was the 3rd one. But after reading the review I was sold. I also liked Oblivion a lot so I already knew Bethesda. So yeah. Played it. Loved it like pretty much no other game I had ever played. Bought New Vegas a year later when it came out at the end of 2010, loved it even more, and Fallout is now my favorite game series period.

I am super stoked I will be playing this game in 2 weeks.

Got to admit, I find hype trains kind of annoying and can understand why they are not allowed. The thread ends up devolving into pages of posts of "can you put me on the hype train please???"

So I'm getting the pip boy edition, but I kinda wanna pick up the best buy gold edition for those socks and season pass since I got gcu and then sell the game to an instance unkowing friend

Game is likely to score an 88-92. If I had to guess the meta I'd go with 90.

It's not going to matter to me though. New Vegas was one of my fav games ever while it sits at what, 84? I mean that's still a good score but to me the game is easily a 100.

This thread just gets doper.

Don't care what folks say; I think the game looks great graphically and I can't wait. Happy there is a season pass this go around, maybe the DLC will get to a price I'm comfortable paying.

FO3 got me into this series - though I still need to play 2 and tactics.

I don't think the price will go lower than that, unless you wait for a game of the year edition. The DLC of Skyrim is still pricey to this day individually. Not saying you should buy the pass now, I'm not, but I'll buy the pass right before the first DLC comes out.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I have the special edition on order for PS4, but because of living circumstances, will be playing it on PC. I hadn't planned on buying two copies right away (modding later), but it's Fallout.

This thread just gets doper.

I mean, it's got the best goddamn gameplay I've ever experienced in a game of it's kind. I've put just about 80 hours into the game. I play on PC so I was able to use Cheat Engine to circumvent most of the bullshit via speedhacking.

And even still I can't get over the fact that the game is padded harder than any other game I've ever willingly played. I can't get over the fact that the game expects me to jump through so many hoops and submit to so much checklist-clearing and wait times that to even see most of the content and normally unlock the options that I want to use, I'd still have another few dozen hours to go, or perhaps another hundred. And that story, yo.

MGSV is a really bad game with amazing gameplay. It's one of the strangest juxtopositions in gaming and one of the hardest to call a game out on because people will always try and tell me that good gameplay makes for a good game period. and sure that applies to a lotta games but not MGSV. MGSV is just jam packed with too much bullshit.

so how man here are buying the season pass at launch? I think im holding off until i start seeing the dlc

All I really have to go off is the Fallout 3 DLC, of which I very much enjoyed Point Lookout and The Pitt, mildly enjoyed Broken Steel, and actively disliked Operation Anchorage and Mothership Zeta (especially MZ, one of the worst DLCs I've ever played, if not the worst). 3/5 ain't bad, so I'm considering it.

I'd have no problem buying it now. I trust Bethesda to deliver on $30 worth of DLC and know I will want it regardless. It's just hard for me to justify paying it at the moment when I'll be dropping over $120 for the pipboy edition. I'll probably buy the pass early next year some time.
