Godspeed, new PC parts!

Building a new PC and kicking off my new silky smooth gaming life with this game. Hope everything gets here in time!

I bet my company wouldn't give the leave to play video games. :(

why?

If you've worked your X amount of months to earn your vacation time and just say "i want these days off" they can say no? That seems fucked up and against policy. Only argument is if you're at call or client needs you almost all of the time and nobody can cover for you at that time.

It's not like they will say no, but they'll say I'm too childish and stuff. It's the culture here in Asian countries (or at least mine). It won't be a problem if I lie though.

ah ok, I was thinking with western mindset asian might be a whole different world. Yeah just lie about it. I mean in Japan it probably isn't unheard of that people ask for vacation for 'not professionally acceptable' hobbies.

I'm agreeing with all of the people snickering at the idea of Bethesda Gold. I'm looking forward to that day one patch & week two patch, does Bethesda do that on purpose to deter Pirates? :P Seriously though, I'm hoping Fallout 4 is not that "broken" game that people are hinting at releasing soon. I've been a little out of the loop, did that one actually turn out to be Assass:Syndicate? Reviews I saw didn't seem like it :S

Same over here. Amazon says I get my Pip-boy edition between the 16th and the 20th.

I ordered off amazon france ( being in the uk it made sense price wise and having been sold out here since announcement day :/ )

My amazon says delivery between 13th - 14th, i only ordered it last week.

Well fuck me, thanks for posting this - I just managed to snag the Pip-Boy from Amazon France at standard retail price. They have it in stock, guys. A few quid delivery to UK.

You didnt pay 299 euros did you? Mine was 129 euros which worked out to around £98 inc delivery. Anyways glad it worked for you.

I already own the game digitally on Xbox One (and have it loaded up), but I got the Pip-Boy Xbox One edition too because.. Reasons.

Because of the Euro exchange rate it's actually cheaper to ship it from France than get it delivered via Amazon UK. Also the delivery time is quicker. A real find, man.

Nah it's not syndicate. The game has some bugs but nothing broken.

No one has even played Fallout 4 outside of Bethesda. I would guess this mythical broken game everyone keeps bringing up was THPS 5. That was the only recent AAA I can think of that was broken beyond the point of repair via a day 1 patch.

They had a shitshow on PS3 with Skyrim and all of a sudden they make unplayable games. It's nonsense. Anyone who waits is definitely going to miss out on some good shit. . .

I've had this puppy paid off for months, and my spouse and I have already prepared for me to disappear from the world for a few days to play this. Bring it.

How would waiting on some patches, possibly mods etc mean you're MISSING out on something?

I think a big split in opinion will be between people who like being provided with a story and those who like creating their own

I think Bethesda's RPGs strike a good balance here. My first playthroughs of Fallout 3 and Skyrim I started out on the main quest line for a few quests but as soon as that big wide world opened up, I got distracted and strode off to seek my destiny and didn't rejoin the main quest until a long time later. And it's easy to forget you're the lone wanderer looking for dad or the dragonborn.

Compare this to Witcher 3, which was utterly absorbing and fantastic, and it's much harder to forge your own story because the story is you're a witcher and witching, killing bandits and playing gwent is what you do.

Bethesda RPGs give you a background and point you in a direction (the main quest line) and that's all. RPGs like The Witcher give you a background and expect you to follow the story; you can't become an assassin, a thief or a complete murdering arsehole.

There is room for both approaches in the world but I personally prefer the freeform nature of Bethesda's RPGs. Plus first person for total emersion.

This is very true and I've seen it play out before my eyes in my latest playthrough of Skyrim. You set a quest that you're going to make your destination, then you just walk and let the wind take you wherever you go along the way. Having a huge world with a lot of shit in it allows that.

Excellent...

I do find it a bit weird that we haven't had any gameplay since E3 though.

They did the same with Skyrim (and prior). A big dump of initial footage and then nothing. It worked very well for them, they shipped 30m units of Skyrim which was absolutely bonkers numbers.

It also worked as great viral marketing at launch, because LOTS of things were discovered and shared by players. Imagine how much stuff remains to be discovered in Fallout 4. There will be entire areas of map and features we won't know about until we find and share them.

Don't know if I'll buy this day one or wait for the bugs to be fixed before I buy it. But either way I'm so ready for this.

While there will still likely be patches to fix some bugs (all massive open world games have them) I do think this will likely be one of Bethesda's less buggy / most complete games at launch.

I mean they didn't announce the game 2 or 3 years before release and then try to hit the release date, like a lot of devs do. They waited until only 5 months before release to even announce it, so most of the game would have been complete and these last few months should have been spent doing the finishing touches and polishing.

This is true (the idea).. Somebody who works at Bethesda tweeted that the game was done a few months ago, and the final stretch was all QA.

For my part I have a concern that will this game offer anything for those that played Fallout 3 all the way. That experience was amazing, but looking at the 4 trailer it seems this is similar if higer res.. so bit worried it may feel like a repeat

I think for many, myself included, what we crave is mostly more of the same but on a bigger scale, with improved visuals, better and tighter mechanics and new stories. Minute to minute gameplay is going to be the same: hide and seek, kill and scrounge but now there are bigger systems in play in terms of economics, base buildings and trading.

Starting with the obvious you have what looks like good shooting mechanics and the gameplay balance anomalies look to have been addressed by the new perk system - time will tell on that.

You'll still be scavenging but now you need to think about whether those items you scavenge could be better diverted for crafting things you need rather than just selling for money and I think money will be far scarcer than previous games where you could build up insane fortunes. You will still have the choice not to craft and sell everything but I would expect the economy to be balanced to reward crafters compared to those who want to sell everything they find and buy weapons or just use equipment they find.

Then there is the base building and running caravan trains between bases. There's got to be a reason for caravans which hints at a larger economy and resource game for those that want to do it.

Finally, and this was a big problem with the older Fallout games, everything will be on a grander more realistic scale. It was unusual to see more than 6-8 NPCs doing anything meaningful in the older games so you had "wars" and "invasions" with 5 NPCs but we know from reports of unpublished demos of the "Corvega battle" shown to media at Gamescom that everything is bigger such as the three-way Raider / Supernatant / Brotherhood battle.

Wut? that's really surprising do you have a source?

17 more days until I can flee from this world. I can't wait. Too much shit happened in my life lately already. Need Fallout

Never really played a fallout game. I started 3 but failed to get engaged after I left the vault.

Have 60 in steam credit. Should I take a chance on this?

Probably not, that first time exploring after leaving the vault in Fallout 3 was the most amazing part of the game.
If that didn't grab you, nothing will.

This is the thing Im the most excited for. I pretty much know nothing about the map and the different locales besides the E3 trailer. Excited to see what kind of fucked up Vault stories there are now.

If the reviews are positive and the Digital Foundry analysis comes out ok, I'm jumping right in :)

I seriously can't fucking wait! I didn't consume much of any of the pre-release marketing but with it like two weeks out I am ready to play a new Fallout game.

Hope is a nice game, even will take vacations for 10 days to play it. My only concern is the story hope they do better than FO3.

It's getting closer!

I have to get one of my wisdom teeth removed on the 11th of November.. guess who'll be playing fallout 2 days in a row :P wuahahah

Just returned with the best news that i could have looking at my rota for release week.
Midnight pick up and the 4 days off!!! Yeeeehhhhh

It's absolutely incredible that this game is releasing in 2015.

There's never been a more perfect cycle between announcement and release.
