Disagree with you on a few things.
People never questioned whether he is a good or a bad person, or whether he loves his creation. They criticized his vision and execution.
Second, bringing up other things people should be more mad about is logical fallacy known as fallacy of relative privation. Again, irrelevant.
Finally, i agree the cartoon is amazing, yet not considered canon anymore, so again it is irrelevant.
Basically, you said nothing particularly useful except "leave George alone!!!"
My comments weren't particularly directed at anyone specific, but I've read more than my fair share of comments since the TFA trailer dropped where people are wishing death upon Lucas, and speaking as if every cringeworthy or poorly executed bit of Star Wars sprung from the mind of George Lucas alone.
I don't like the prequels. I think they are poorly made movies, but movies aren't made by just one person. It is an effort involving hundreds of people, and yes, George was the head of the ship.
The Clone Wars cartoon (the CGI one), is 100% considered Canon by Disney and Lucasfilm, as is the Rebels cartoon. Those are the only content from pre-TFA that is canon (as well as whatever new content they are bringing out now). So, yes, it's very relevant. That cartoon is excellent, and is officially part of the Star Wars universe.
I'm not saying "Leave George Alone! *teardrop*" I'm saying that acting like this man has raped your childhood, and is worse than Hitler because he made three mediocre Star Wars movies is an overblown reaction. He's a filmmaker. Not every filmmaker can capture lightning in a bottle, especially when that lightning altered filmmaking forever. The prequels were not good movies. I'm not about to lose any sleep over it, and I'm ready to see what Abrams and the two other directors bring to the franchise that I love. The Roman Polanski bit was a little tongue in cheek, but there really are people that hold Lucas in the same group of revulsion as a monster such as him, or they certainly act like they do, considering the rage in which they direct at Lucas over the prequels.
Some fans aren't so much angry at the films, as they are directing their hate towards the man who made them. I think that's extreme, and troubling. Hate the prequels all you want, I know I do, but I'm not going to wish ill on the guy that made Star Wars a thing in the first place. I treat the prequels like I do any bad movies I don't like: I don't dwell on them any longer than I have to.
No reason to get hostile because of my comments with your flippant response. I'm not defending Lucas, but I don't think he's solely to blame for the faults of the prequels. I mean, I wouldn't blame Lucas for the shitty ILM effects in the prequels. He's not a computer animator, for example.
