I wish I could find it again, but there is a good book out there written by a black woman who met with KKK members regularly to interview and discuss. By the end of the book one member even turned his robes into her and quit the KKK. I don't think we have a shot at having such a profound impact on GAF, nut I also don't think we're dealing with any KKK level racists here either.

It's actually much easier to deal with and educate people like that because they are up front about what they believe and feel, and are very often simply uneducated and/or unexposed to different people and information. It's the ones who tell themselves that they're progressive while suggesting that the people getting shit on should just let it go so everyone else can keep having fun.

For the record, can any Europeans stop lumping the UK in your "this isn't a thing in Europe". It has quite clearly been stated, and should be understood, that there is a history of blackface/gollywogs being a thing in the UK and that it is not OK in the slightest. Does it really need to be explained what the difference is between a character playing someone in blackface (who was called out for it in the movie) and a guy actually in blackface? Is the Kanye guy trying to send some message or did he just see black skin as one of Kanye's defining features?
