Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

So what button scheme is everyone liking so far? I tried Helljumper, but I can't seem to stray from Bumper Jumper.

Playing Halo and NOT zooming with the right stick just feels wrong to me.

When you're not though there is a severe la k of response from the enemy. I'm speaking in terms of physical reactions (flinching, knock backs etc). It feels off and reminds me of destiny when the no flinch modifier is on. It feels like you're shooting moving pieces of scenery, not enemies.
Yes this is quite strange. You hit them and nothing happens lol

I am 100% confident that Arena is the best Halo multiplayer created and possibly the best multiplayer game.

Undeniably so.

Also, game has some really beautiful moments with lighting and character detail.

Really makes me wish we had Campaign theater mode back. :/

Just started the game up was gonna try multiplayer. Says problem authorizing the user or some shit. Can't access multiplayer modes.

In the network settings it says my nat type is Open.

I stuck with recon since reach, can't go back. They can't make me.

God damn Arena is difficult. Everyone is so goddamn accurate. I always seem to 4 shot everyone and then can never get the final shot for the kill, people seem to just about get out of sight.

I'm not very good at getting away when my shield is down.

I've been trying HellJumper because it's closest to the Destiny Bumper Jumper.

Biggest issue is ADS on the left trigger feels weird/slow when having to release and hold again after being descoped during a gun battle. I'm going to try this with the hair trigger option on the Elite Controller and see if that works better.

Default with jump, melee and reload mapped to the paddles on my Elite controller.

B not being the melee button is wrecking me. I have missed so many beatdowns because I boosted away rather than melee'd. Will get use to it though.

Need an Elite controller for this game so I can jump and aim better.

Once the app comes out, I'm very tempted to map everything exactly the same way Destiny BJ is mapped.

Quick question, I know there's no split screen for campaign co op but what about the regular multiplayer? Slayer and all that. My brother's about to pick the game up and he's asking and I don't know lol

Fishsticks...makes the ground pound much easier to aim. Only gripe with it is that B is crouch so I have to take my thumb off the stick to crouch

I generally agree, and H5 is not alone in this regard within the console space, but that's some N64 levels of lack of AF right there. Really wish this issue would go away for console users at some point.

The sound on the weapons is so damn good. Everything feels so damn powerful when you shoot it, puts a lump in your throat.

Even the Promethean Light Rifles, which felt flimsy last time out feel like they pack some punch through your subwoofer.

Yeah, I just came off a play through of 4 where most weapons felt weak and inaccurate. Even the Assault Rifle feels sharp and punchy now. Sounds great.

Is gold 1 for arena decent? I admit I suck at Halo and I feel like im not doing to great in slayer matches. Usually breaking even at 10-10 or 12-12.

The very first thing I noticed is how precise and fine-tuned the weapons feel, which was followed up by the metal tinniness of human weapons versus that sci-fi pew-pew of the promethean weapons. Different feel from Destiny but just as polished and refined.

Played the first 3 missions and so far I had alot of fun with the game. I know almost no Chief is a bummer but I somehow doesn't dislike Team Osiris as I thought I would be.

Game has some great visuals too (for a console game)

Completed the campaign...

Wasn't too great, tbh. There were virtually no vehicular sections, the "boss battles" were highly repetitive, and the story was just subpar.

The shooting gameplay is fantastic, though. I just really wish there was more variety.

One more note: The game's marketing is totally misleading.

I can't make my mind up about multiplayer. Some Warzone games are so tight with the lead going back and forth, it's really enjoyable.

But then most games I'm reminded of my youthful rage at the TV from the Halo 2 days! The game is so punishing and sometimes leaves me feeling hard done by, like how did that dude kill me when I peppered him with lead??!!!

Perhaps Halo multiplayer isn't for me. I've never been too good at it and it leaves me feeling angered and bothered around 80% of the time. The other 20% I love it. Why is it like that?

I want to enjoy the REQ grind and even microtransactions but I can't see me playing long term once I finish the campaign. I want to love it but it stresses me too much!

Sometimes I wanna play competitively. Sometimes I wanna just play arena without worrying about rank...

Game really needs a casual playlist for team arena and slayer for those times.

Yeah I agree, I'm sweating hard in all of the games I play since I'm in Diamond. I'm kinda using Warzone as a chill game for now, but even that requires solid play to win.

No
Keep at it. Winning will move you up.
Haha alright. Will I go down if I keep stinking? I do awesome in capture the flag and the control the points (forget the name of it). Like really really good. But in plain old slayer Im just abysmal for some reason. I just can never finish them off. Im an assist master it seems haha.

And what about the vehicular section in mission 3? lol

It's sad to hear this... and may be very true cause I'm hearing this kind of thing a lot.

They indeed promised the biggest halo in scope and a quite long campaing. So that's kind disappointing if it wasn't really delivered.

I may play if myself soon though at my own pace and see how it compares to the past campaigns.

I absolutely love the game so far, both SP and MP. But i can't be the only one that thinks that island map in Warzone looks....well...quite bad graphically. The other one look nice (yet to see the other two) but damn.

Unfortunately it's the nature of Halo and I know exactly what you mean. It's like, when you kill someone it's so rewarding, but when you're getting owned it's just no fun at all.

I talked with so many pros and former pros that I know last night about initial impressions. All I kept hearing was biggest skill gap, great balance, more reliant on individual skill, and much harder to spawn trap.

My initial impressions were that this has the most varied gameplay, the ways you can chain abilities is fantastic, gunplay is super precise, and finally that setups are going to a bitch on this game.

ditto
