Stripper posts insane story on Twitter with more twists than a Shonda Rhimes script

Whenever I'm ready to give up on the story, Jarrett starts punching himself in the face and I'm pulled back in.

For some reason]Z looks like that British dude that played "Tank" in Rocknrolla]and Jarrett looks like Peter Sarsgaard in my head. For some reason I envisioned Zola as Tia Tequila. Not sure why.

Good read and probably true.

good casting. especially sarsgaard.

I think marrec was unfair to you, but just look at the first few pages and some posts have a certain...flair to them:

Edit: Ha, the first one has a typo.
Geez, now I see it. :/

I tried reading some of the tweets and thankfully, her explanation of the terms (trap, for example) was pretty useful, but got tired of reading those sentences and decided to come back to it later.

I still play most of my games with English subtitles, to be honest, since sometimes my listening abilities are way too basic for fast speaking, let alone someone writing that down as it is. :|

Now, calling it lack of education, speech impediment or downright saying she's dumb? That's going way too far, like, not even hiding it.

So we vibing over our hoeism or whatever
This fucking killed me though.

It's really cool to see storytelling evolve with social media. Because damn, that was a hellova story told in a hellova engaging way.

Great read, true or not.

Yeah I agree hah. Someone could easily write a
boring
Master's thesis about Evolving Literary Form using this as one case.

Longform Twitter is interesting because it makes a mess of sentences and paragraphs and all kind of conventions of writing. Individual tweets are kind of like line breaks in poetry.

who said anything about pride? is that really what people get from me not understanding all the words?

It's a string of tweets, not a manuscript submission. Why should she have been expected to consider mass market ease of consumption at the time? She was just telling a story on Twitter, probably not too concerned with whether or not people understood all of her slang or jargon especially when the Internet exists.

Honestly it's fine if there are bits people don't get right away but what is wagging fingers over syntax and grammar really going to do?

The antithesis is the point. It's slang.

It's like when all the dumb white boys started saying "sick" in the '90s.

What?

Now I'm skeptical like DAMN bitch we just met and we already taking hoe trips together???? BUT I had went to FL 2 months prior & made 15K

So lowkey I was down. So I was like "okay I'll go. Who's all going & when we leaving." All this bitch says is "be ready by 8"

Skeptical.

Then he turns 2 me & goes "this what u came here for zola?!" I said "HELL NA jarret she lowkey set me up. Im not fuckin wit yall after this"

She set her up without her knowing.

He wasted NO TIME!! He goes "i should really kill yo ass." Jarrett is dangling off the ground crying "please dont please" ..lowkey im cryin

Trying not to cry.

Low key is not some new slang term. It's always been used one way, and this woman uses it that way in the story.

PM maybe?

Yep, a lot of people don't think about the fact that many people are typing this stuff from their phones and honestly could not care less about using proper grammar.

I try to type from my Vita while using Gaf and sometimes get chewed out by grammar police officers when I make typos. Its usually from someone who disagrees with you and wants to belittle your point. We can all understand what somebody is trying to say if we cared enough to want to understand.

I'm actually trying to write a lesson on this for my 10th graders tomorrow. The difficulty is avoiding the star of the show--this story.

Maybe not you specifically, but there has been a parade of people coming in with their grammar nazi badge of honor. I mean, do they read a Cormac McCarthy book and complain about punctuation? This doesn't require translation, especially with the implication that it's written in an incoherent manner. Obviously the patois isn't going to be familiar to everyone here, but the story doesn't jump around or contradict itself. Not to mention she explains a lot of the more obscure terms, and doesn't give information that the reader wouldn't have up to that point. I'd rather read this backwards and upside down than someone on the gaming side try to explain the storyline for the Kingdom Hearts series or Metal Gear Solid V.

Asking questions is one thing, being condescending is a whole different ball of wax. I'm not calling you out, just giving context to why someone might in this thread.

Got my Cormac McCarthy/Trapping in FL analogy in for the week, and it's only Wednesday.

Jerret is trevors icp freind from gta5 in my head, cant remember his name, dwayne maybe?

Urban Dictionary is usually on point but I was really surprised to see that the definitions for "trick" and "trap" were totally off.

They are not off. Like most slang, there are multiple definitions of these words depending on how they are used and who is using them. If you went on 4chan and started asking about "traps," you'd end up with a very different result than what the woman in question was talking about.

I'm shocked that there is so much discussion here about her use of colloquial speech. I would think it shouldn't be a new idea to anyone. Why aren't we discussing whether this story was even interesting enough to be shared in the first place? In my opinion, it's really not, but it seems like the rest of the nation disagrees (it's Game of Thrones all over again).

Nah, if Good Ole Boy English Defense Force wants their sanitized version so it stands proudly among their Sonic fanfics and My Little Pony Dvds the "hoeism" part must be removed too. Maybe replace it by "The Free Love Spectrum" or something.

people who pride themselves in not understanding other people, i can't follow

I just got off a phone call where a old lady yelled at me says "IF YOU CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH RIGHT GET OUT OF THE COUNTRY" of course she was speaking about our group of CSR's in the Philippines.

trick
Something a whore does for money.
GOB BLUTH: "Illusion, Michael. A trick is something a whore does for money."

1. A word many stupid people seem to think means 'things' or 'life' but in fact is entirely related to prostitution, IE, the act of selling ones sexual favors for money. Anyone who pretends otherwise is A, stupid, B, a wigger, C, deliberately offensive, or D, a crackbaby, probably the result of someone turning tricks.

new skateboard trick where he slides down the stairs on his head?"

"Well, yeah, but John's mom turned tricks to conceive him"

Second page, they have different meaning depending of the situation.

Suspended disbelief up until the part where bipolar cuck boyfriend jumps from a 4 story balcony and his pants conveniently save him. Somebody C/D please.

Speech style is part of region, economic class, and ethnicity. People transfer their prejudices to it, when schools and grammar books tell you to speak their way to speak good.

I'm honestly surprised typos are still being called out. We're (presumably) all using fingers and they're imperfect. Unless the typo makes the sentence unreadable, it's not indicative of anything other than a missed key, something everyone does, and should just be ignored.

By the way did anyone figure out who Z is? His rap sheet seems notorious enough to get on the news.

This is what I've been waiting for.

legit or not, i was entertained

Its my second language and I got it all, and im an idiot. Pretending to not understand urban slang is a weird nerd tradition that I dont get, nerds drop Valyrian all the time, talk about their waifus and yaoi shit but when its time to know what is the meaning of "salty" in an obvious context, well they just need to let the world know they dont understand these weird black urban words.

please JD don't hurt em
for real, it's usually the same herbs on about this crap too, like they'll spend all day on YT and forums but urbandictionary is beneath em
