Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Quoting since the thread move fast,

I think that's a permanent card, or means that you have a certification for it? I'm not on now, but I remember seeing that I had it for wraith, saw and something else, and I seem to have the most cards of those in packs. So it's probably certification?

So, this has probably been mentioned already but... plasma pistol charge and hair-triggers on the Elite controller no mix, huh?

You need to change the trigger zones in the app. It requires a full pull to charge so you need to adjust where that's at if you're using the hair triggers.

So I've been stuck on onyx 1500 rank forever now even though I'm wining games. Are the ranks broken or what? I see others at 1503,1600, etc. Hows it work?

Oh, so just adjust the slider so that both are at or close to 0, basically?

Does anybody know what the default range for the hair-trigger setting is, so I can go based on that?

When you're in the app, you can press the trigger down and it'll show you where it's registering it. You can then adjust the range while you hold the trigger down.

So I feel really dumb, I have been play Halo 5 since it launched and was wondering why the controls were so sluggish in multiplayer. I was doing terrible and just kept telling myself that it was just because of the lack of aim assist from the beta. So, I go on playing until the game straight up won't find games. I decided to check my network and had a STRICT NAT and MTU of 510, but my download and upload were both really high. From here I began to investigate, and it turns out that if you have the Next Xbox Experience Preview Program there is a glitch in the latest update that sets your MTU to 510 and forces a STRICT NAT.

You fix this with just a simple router reset... and now the game plays soooo well.

There are some really fucking bad people in SWAT. Just drag teams down with performances of 3-12 or worse. It's such a bummer. But there have been less quitters in the last hour than before, so that's good.

Anyway, just got Onyx 1500 in SWAT. Is that the highest group?

EDIT: Diamond has to be better, right?

No, Onyx is the 2nd highest tier you can get. The highest is Champion.

No, top 200 are called champions.

Onyx is just below Champion. Diamond below Onyx.

So I just started playing the campaign and I'm feeling a little lost. Is there something I should look at to understand what is going on or does it matter?

If you want to get the whole picture:

Watch Halo 4 Spartan Ops cutscenes
Read a synopsis of Halo: Escalation

Hunters in the Dark and First Light are supplemental to character development but not entirely necessary to understand the plot.

How do you do an assassination? I go to melee from behind, but it never pulls it off.

Hold melee behind a target, tap melee is quick beat down, make sure you did not disable assassination in the settings.

Well I want this now.

My problem with the multiplayer:

1. Radar is too short ranged. With the speed that this game moves, people go on and off it in an instant. It's practically useless. As someone who relied on it from every other Halo game (4 included) I'm having a tough time adjusting to just looking around for enemies.
2. 2 Grenades is a mistake. It's far too easy to die in this game so having two of a weapon that does massive damage is just frustrating as they are constantly being thrown.
3. The spawns are pretty bad. Especailly on the maps made in forge.

Other than that, I'm enjoying myself!

The forge map has issues with the rocks area, you can't walk over them or grapple up some of them due to their random shape, also the map sucks.

A lot of players are just getting their game so there will be mostly placement matches.

yeah but surely placement can go against placement more often then mixing up placement players and ranked players, i'm all for fast matchmaking times but not when it mixes up people on their 4th match against crystal and diamonds.

There a limit on how many cards or whatever they're called you can collect? (ie titanfall) Or should I have to worry about selling them etc... (needlers/mongooses)

1. In the beta is was at 30m and it was like some wall hacks. Maybe a larger radar in Warzone and keep the 18m for Arena.

2. Grenades if placed right are crazy powerful. I wish it was map specific on how many grenades you got.

3. Spawns are god awful in Swat.

warzone uses a 25m radar.

I like the shorter radar but damn if it doesn't feel like the enemy spawns behind you and takes you down the second you look away.

Is there any recommended reading for halo 5? Just want to make sure I'm all caught up on everything before I start the campaign seriously.

I wish it was 25m for everything. I really use it a lot. Also, not being on radar when invis even if you're running is bullshit.

Yo and once your shield has dropped, even if you win in a 1 on 1, some other dude is gonna get you without a doubt. The day of perfections in matches are long gone.

Someone threw this my way, was quite helpful.

There's a lot to read, but it depends on what you have already read of course. Skimming through Escalation or maybe just reading Wiki summaries about post halo 4 events might be the quickest option.

Wrapped up campaign and looking forward to mp. Gotta say, I'm a bit apprehensive of the radar nerf. I'm an above average player but I definitely have relied on the radar a lot in previous titles. I foresee a long, painful adjustment period.

I'm in the opposite camp. I wish there was absolutely no radar... Anywhere. If anything make it a power up that's wider range and limited time use.

People depend waaaaaaay to much on it and don't play smart. They dot-hunt and don't pay enough attention to their surroundings and plow forward without thinking about what's behind them.

The radar nerf is one of the best changes they made!

Argh. Warzone being tied to nonsense consumables is so frustrating. The mode is really fun and leads to really interesting situations as all the elements of the sandbox interact. It is terrible that in a really close game I'm looking at a Scorpion I could spawn and probably really help out the team but then don't because it's my only card of that type. It might be more useful in a game I'm playing with friends later! And that other, potential, game feels more important so I'll not use it.
