Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

It really annoys me when my teammates just run off in different directions in Team Slayer. It's so easy for us to get picked off one by one by a competent team which sticks together. Is this the way it's supposed to be played now or what?

YOU NEVER should leave your accountabilibuddy

I want to play 7 hours a day, no one is on so I either have to play warzone (lol) or get slapped in Arena, so annoying. So I just sit in lobby. Made a 2nd account and get teamates dropping 1-17's and I've had 1 person speak once (after he died with rockets and only said nooo) Where the fuck is a social playlist at?? Seriously I would be at SR 40 if I had something were I could atleast carry teammates in.

I'm actually finding Heroic quite challenging. Even early on, enemies are unloading on me with surprising accuracy from across the map, and my shields fail quickly. I don't really want to turtle up and slowly chip away at the enemies, as that's just no fun.

Any suggestions or tips on how to "git gud"?

Unfortunately that's usually how high-difficulty Legendary in Halo is (that's why I never really play it that way unless it's four-person co-op, or there's an achievement.)

Giving your allies powerful weapons and making sure you neutralize the easiest targets first (targets like Crawlers or Grunts you can quickly one-shot and get back to cover) help push things along. On higher difficulties don't waste precision ammo on soldiers, strip their armor first.

I think this game is a prime example of someone at 343 just shitting the bed. Like I'm having fun and its still good but why why why did they change the game so radically from beta? Feels like a totally different game between the aiming and the criminally small radar.

I'm trying to adjust and I'm having good games now too but aiming just feels so off sometimes. And I bet 343 NEVER addresses this.

I hear it's the pro teams fault which could just be internet bs but if it's true ugh. No more pro team please.

The tiny radar sucks, too. I'm sure they won't change that back the way it's been since halo 2 but I wish they would.

Same here man, looking to get a few for Fireteam

GT: enfieldvball

Gold in Arena and Platinum in Slayer if that makes a difference

I'm always looking for more people to play with too!

I'd be happy to play with you guys. :)

Played through several matches of SWAT last night. Really had fun despite being in last place on my team most of the time. Managed to keep a positive K/D most of the games, with a couple at like .2 and .3 K/D.

Getting used to the Elite paddles is also partly to blame, but really, I blame my aim.

Wish I saw that boss skip video earlier. Doing that battle solo on legendary was a super pain in the ass. The only "good" thing about it was there were checkpoints after each kill. I was ready to quit. Also not knowing you can charge up the incineration cannon didn't help me either. :)

Titanfall voids your result if you're thrown into a game midway, meaning if you lose that match it has zero bearing on your rank.

Could the same not be implemented for Halo 5?

So if I join in progress the match was a complete waste of time? No thanks. I'd rather just be guarunteed a full match.

This. Or at least put in replacement players in Warzone and BTB.

There is JiP for Warzone... Probably won't be in BTB because it doesn't belong in competitive modes, period.

Going to save that skip vid.

I really don't like fighting those fucks.

After seven missions, I have to say, this is definitely up there as one of my favourite Halo campaigns.

Finally got to play some last night and ran into some Hunters for the first time. They really upped the difficulty on those guys, this time around. Playing on Legendary and it took me at least a dozen plus tries to get through them. Their melee attack seems nearly instantaneous now, and it almost felt like it had a AoE on it.

The squad stuff I'm not really digging at all. Really can't do a ton with your AI teammates.

A couple multiplayer questions...

Is there any extra damage for headshots before you pop their shield?

Am I correct that there is little to no reason to ADS with most guns in most situations? What would be the exceptions? Sniper obviously....maybe DMR....thought I read that full auto guns get a slightly tighter spread? For most guns, am I correct that all ADS does is increase zoom and does not affect accuracy so unless it makes it easier to set up a longer range shot you are almost always better off firing from the hip? Started playing MP last night and I figured this would be a much tougher adjustment after literally 1000's of hours playing BF/COD/Destiny and reflexively using ADS almost all the time, but I seemed to be getting the hang of it. However, I want to make sure I'm not making some bad assumptions.

Sometimes, the AI can be absolutely useless at drawing aggro for the large enemy types, the ones with the weakpoints on their backs.

Start directing them around with the D-pad, they get much more useful. Even if it's only to distract hunters while you pop the hunter from behind!

Yeah, in that Hunter encounter I was trying to use them to do just that and mostly they were just getting themselves blown up. Frustrating.

Edit: I mean, that's really that's the extent of their abilities, right? They can heal you (down but not out, but I can't move at all kind of sucks, too) and draw fire while you flank, but they're not really great at either of those things, at least not that I've noticed.

The zoom in Halo is primarily used in situations in which you are picking someone off at a distance and they aren't firing back at you. In 1-1 engagements, you are correct in that trying to scope in will usually disorient you and get you killed. Hip fire is just as viable an option as zooming in Halo. There are Dom accuracy penalties, and I think only autos get a slightly tighter spread when zooming.

And there is no bonus damage for where you hit a spartan before their shields are down. As such, I like to target the body when I'm getting someone's shields down, and then pop a headshot once they are vulnerable. Aiming for the head all of the time is an easy way to miss shots, especially with how quick the movement is in this game.

Hunters have always had an AoE or at least the appearance of one, because their attacks had two phases of damage going back to CE.

The are definitely more aggressive though, and the fact that they won't be happily stuck with grenades certainly increases the trouble.

Wish they'd bring back the 1HK in the back at this point, because there should be some reward to getting up close besides the opportunity to get splattered.

Awesome....thank you.

Just done mission 5 and it's one of my favourite halo missions ever.
Warthog, tank, sniping, outdoor base, into a cave, massive alien structure, knight fights - AWESOME
. Even the
warden
fight was okay - did it on my second try - mainly because
I had a disintegrator cannon from one of the knights, 3 full power hits in his face, followed by a full suppressor into its back while he chased my team mates, and he was down

Fair to say I am massively into H5 now this after being slightly over/underwhelmed by it at first. The gun play is brilliant, the verticality superb - so many ways to approach a level. It feels like Halo but fresher, newer and more agile.

I haven't noticed any resolution changes although they must be happening - 42" TV couch distance away (6 ft).

I am totally blown away by the sound on my 5.1 system - tempted to start a new thread about it. The positional sound is amazing, but the clarity depth and realistic sound of everything is just fantastic.

Ah, see, I didn't know this. I kept trying to do this and kept getting murdered!

Can you give them power weapons? I couldn't do it with the classic marine-exchange... Can you direct them to a weapon with d-pad?

I had one incident where the team member just stood watching me die from 5 ft away. Words were exchanged, I just hope Kinect was listening.

I also use them to focus fire or move the fight up the battlefield a bit. More "cannon fodder" than intended, I suspect.

Hahaha. I almost shot coffee out through my nose. Oh man.

Yeah, I don't know. As I said, I'm not that far into it; perhaps they will improve. As of now, however, they don't seem worth their inclusion.

I guess as an american playing this time of day you get paired up with 90% Europeans... fuck i'm getting in sweaty-euro-tryhard Warzone lobbies lol...

Anyone up for some warzone trains?

GT: gun fer hire

I'm betting 90% of your complaints will be fixed in the first title update or whatever they are called now a days. I'm chilling on not saying anything until the first TU when I'll see what they fix.

Hmm, but I really don't like what I'm hearing about the story. its odd for a Halo game to fuck up on its story, usually they are well received to meh at worst. if it continues to get bad reception like this I wonder if 343 will make another campaign story mode DLC ala Spartan OPs without the suck.

On a side note, heres what happened to me yesterday. So, I go and finally pick up my gamestop preorder for the limited edition and...

Yeah...turns out their was a shipping accident and I was the lucky soul to get a proper fucked case. I only had 2 options: wait a week for more copies so I can get it swapped out or get 10% off and take it as is, you can see what I chose.

Fortunately nothing looks damaged thank god the disk is safe and unharmed. but now I got to look and use this shit steelbook case, I'm really disappointed this happened.

So, does anybody have a spare steelbook I can buy off of them?!

There's no real benefit to head shots prior to shield popping (except for the sniper rifle of course).

Seems like zooming with the auto's does tighten spread a bit. To me it's a non issue because if you are in a dual, you'll be descope as anyway. In most cases, your better off not zooming in.

Yes. I'm not sure if they have unlimited ammo like in the previous games though.

Well they got to otherwise what use are your team mates that just run around meleeing? Though it would be funny to order Buck to fight a Knight with his bare hands then watch him fly across the map a minute later.
