Yeah I played it but don't remember the story much. I'll go check that out. I remember TMCC had the Halo show thingy too, right? Maybe it's a better idea to just watch a video on YouTube of everything I need to know.
A bit worried the bizarre cutoff in the post-mission cutscene (one with
Roland getting upset
) is a sign of what's to come. I get that jumping between the two parties doesn't seem like it would leave much room for the usual supporting cast but don't stop a scene right in the middle of a discussion!
Anyone else feel like FFA has too many people? It feels like some maps just aren't made for 8 people and most games are spent with you getting killed a few seconds after spawning. It's too hectic with all the grenades going around and somebody popping up behind you after you get a kill and finishing you off.

I am horrible online in every possible way. Horrible in kdr, in wins and I am so bad I warp back in time and erase every single win my teammates have ever had and make them horrible also.
I ranked Diamond in Team Arena.
How?
I should be less than Bronze. Like dirt. Or pond scum.
I don't understand people's disappointment with the story, I thought it was totally fine. The ending just kind of sucks, they're banking everything in Halo 6. My problems with the campaign come with the pacing and set-pieces.
The sub-plot with Locke and Sanghelios should not have been in this game, It is underdeveloped and has little barring on the main story. There should have been more time spent with Master Chief on Genesis.
There really isn't a single set piece that I found memorable in Halo 5. In Halo 4, you had the journey with the mammoth tank, the pelican flight, the trench run with the broadsword, the mantis reveal, etc. There really isn't anything new or cool in Halo 5. It just sort of feels like Halo going through the motions.
I think the forced co-op was a bad idea. It's hard to build atmosphere or unique moments when the game is designed for 4 different players. I'm hoping 343 does something different for Halo 6, and they keep co-op to firefight or something.
Am I missing something? What's with the orange guy in the Infinity ship? Is he AI? I've probably been to into Star Wars lately but it just feels like someone is in the meeting through a hologram versus that person being an AI if so.
Haven't finished the campaign yet, but judging from multiplayer alone this games is 10/10 material. Every change this game makes to the formula that I felt iffy about pre-launch, works. Everything is an improvement. Even as a mediocre Halo player, the nerf to aim-assist makes the game feel way more satisfying and precise to control. The ridiculousness of armour abilities are toned down and given to everybody, resulting in a fair fight no matter what and an amazing sense of momentum. The thruster adds more depth to the combat without feeling like a gimmick. The verticality of the maps helps make these moves feel right at home. Aim down sights is surprisingly not that jarring, and being able to shoot in mid-air while hovering kicks all kinds of ass. Even Warzone is... well, it's okay. It's kind of a hit or miss game mode depending on whether or not the team knows what it's doing.
As far as the radar goes, I personally find it much easier now. I used to always get confused when reading it in previous games because it seemed like the enemy was closer than he was. This new version suits me fine. Also, it's now much easier to sneak up on someone for an assassination or something without sacrificing a Halo staple like the radar.
Seriously, this game is awesome. The only thing holding it back is when people quit matches. This is a god damn epidemic, people. Every other match somebody backs out just because our team is off to a semi-weak start. Come back and play this great game, damnit! It's incredible!
Just finished on Heroic, and man, can't help but feel the ending left things on a sour note, which is a shame, because the run up to the final quarter of the game was fantastic. Story wise,
why did Cortana actually turn bad, what specifically is actually even going on, who are the Wardens, what is this installation, what is her plan? The tried and tested, kill everything to bring peace strategy? Cortana of all people falls idle to this plan? After basically fending others off in the past for wanting the same? Also annoyed that Master Chief's role in the end amounted to sweet fudge all. He basically got to the end and got locked in a bubble, whilst Locke saved the day. Sigh.
Gameplay towards the end.
Gameplay wise, there was a lot I enjoyed and/or loved, and the middle acts were really solid, but I can't help but the feel the end started to get repetitive and mindless. Just the same enemies and repeated arena's/areas wave after wave, after wave. And then the
Warden
fight's repeated over and over and over as well. They really couldn't have come up with some more unique bosses, boss scenario's, encounters and mechanics?
I did love some of the epic set pieces towards the end though. Some of the installations, levels, backdrops etc were very awe inspiring and grandiose, and other times you really got a sense that you were fighting in the midst of utter chaos. Set pieces wise, in particular I loved running down the
Guardian
. Just felt over the top and cool. Almost Mission Impossible esque.
Friendly AI.
One fairly big complaint I have about the game is the poor friendly AI. There must have been dozens of instances where they did impressively stupid things, and other times I'm pretty sure I died mostly because of them. Walking in to or shooting walls instead of enemies, taking weird routes to get to me that end up in them failing revives, or not being able to get to me at all (e.g. because they couldn't climb up to something effectively or in time), randomly not actually doing much if any damage to certain enemies, other times just repeatedly dying over and over and needing constant reviving, not being able to shoot effectively when on the back of Warthog turrets and so on.
I think if they weren't so strategically important to taking out certain enemies (Warden's, Hunters etc), things wouldn't be as frustrating, but as is they were often more of a hindrance than an aid. I can imagine this game would be more fun in co-op as a result. Luckily you rarely ever need their help, even in Heroic, so it wasn't enough to hamper my experience much overall, and they did still save my skin a few times.
Heroic was actually pretty easy overall, but I can imagine things being trickier because of the friendly AI in Legendary, where their efficient co-operation will likely be more important.
Quick summary.
Overall, I think it was a solid campaign and experience. Fun, rather epic, lots of bad ass moments, a tonne of cool factor, and solid controls. There's also fantastic sound design, sprinkled with moments of visual and aesthetic brilliance to match.
343i clearly learnt a lot from their last effort, and did actually experiment with a few things, such as added mobility in move set and more verticality in level design. That said, I don't think the campaign is totally cohesive or particularly consistent in it's overall quality, and it's that lack of consistency that brings it down a notch, in gameplay and graphics. The story is rather poor, I didn't much like Locke as a character, often times the character development and plot seemed ham fisted or forced (e.g. family camaraderie, too little character depth, erratic plot), and I feel certain acts could have done with just a bit more polish, variety and less repetition. Really solid and enjoyable effort, but not a classic.
God, I fucking hate "Arena" (not the playlist, but the entire set of small scale stuff) and it depresses me because I enjoyed campaign and really like Warzone. I swear to god the aim assist/magnetism in Warzone is higher than Arena, I can hit things just fine in Warzone yet in Arena I feel like I'm trying to shoot teammates with how low the aim assist is. Then on top of that the maps suck hard and the grenades are way too good for how tight everything is.
Oh and radar is way too fucking small.
Nah it's just a super casual mode for the non core halo players or those who want a break from arena I think. Its a cool idea but doesn't seem to feel right. The predictable boss spawns... Only 3 or so capture points... The req system... Feels half way there... But fully flat IMO. The only thing that makes it bearable at times is the solid gunplay and movement that H5 delivers. Other than that... Bleh.

See that... Everyone's so very different.... I detest the crazy large maps and endless running in the open. I love the minimal aim assist and small radar. Give me all battle arenas for 4v4 to 6v6 for skill based combat... Take out the radar and armor power ups. Gold!

I always enjoyed arena game modes in previous Halo games, but I just can't in this game. Even if I do okay I'm still getting frustrated because every death feels cheap.
Idk I liked the warden fights, and just finished the campaign. Bravo 343 that is what I'm talking about. Level design was great. Sets up 6 well. Now for some multiplayer. Who wants to get rekd? Lol jk I suck

Now this I can't get behind. Even when I get wrecked... I deserve it. I've never had a death yet that I feel was cheap or iffy in any way. In my experiences in the arena mistakes get me killed.... Missed chaining shots gets me killed.... Not rolling with my teammates gets me killed. No cheapness. The mechanics and balance are so perfectly done in this Halo is fucking amazing!
Just finished my Heroic solo run. Had a pretty good time with the game overall, and except for some sections of the final two missions (which were just full of dull, bullet-sponge enemies), I'm looking forward to playing through it again.
I'm not really sure about the story right now. It was good in the sense it was thought out, written and paced nicely. But I don't really like the direction it went in.
First off, I don't like Locke... at all. In fact, besides Buck, I don't like any of Fireteam Osiris - they all rub me the wrong way for whatever reason and I was really hoping that (at least) Locke would die at the end. Really, I don't even know why they were in the game. In the trailers, it was made to look as though there was a big conflict between Locke and Master Chief. It could have been really interesting, and something that built up throughout the entire game, giving different perspectives on the upcoming clash. Instead, it all came to a head about 5 missions in and basically ended with a weak fist fight.
That brings me to another thing: why is the Chief barely in Guardians? There's what... 3 missions as Blue Team out of 15? I'm not sure why. The story is basically entirely about the Chief, so why not tell it from his point-of-view? It didn't seem like there was anything gained by playing as someone new. In fact, one of the things I liked most about Halo 4 was the fact Chief (finally) spoke a decent amount and had some character buildup. Halo 5 was a step back in this regard, entirely because he wasn't in it enough.
Finally, the overall story... Cortana was always one of my favourite characters in Halo, and (aside from some rampancy related outbursts in Halo 4) it was always pretty clear what kind of 'person' she was. Halo 5 basically turned that on its head and redefined the character - which is not always a bad thing - but it did it waaaaay too fast. Assuming you've just played the five mainline Halo games and don't know about the extended lore, then Cortana does 3 games as your sidekick, 1 game as your dying sidekick, and then finally 1 game as the galaxy's (current) biggest villain. It's too big a jump. I don't like Cortana in the villain role at all, to be honest, but if 343i must go that route, at least give it some in-game buildup. Not just "Oh there's Cortana! She wasn't dead! Oh damn, she turned evil."
Oh, and what the hell happened to Cortana's face? Did the person designing it have some kind of severe brain injury halfway through and forget what she originally looked like?
Overall, I'd rate the game highly. The story wasn't what I wanted, but it was good nevertheless. The gameplay is absolutely top-tier, and the muliplayer is solid so far. When Forge and BTB are in, it's going to be the best Halo game from a pure gameplay standpoint. I'm excited for Halo 6. I just hope we get the real Cortana back.
So this is a dumb question but what exactly increases your req level in Warzone? Is it set individually or does everyone on the team have the same one all the time.
I was reading a couple pages back that while some people really like Warzone they want BTB back. I agree but it can certainly wait because damn I'm addicted to Warzone. I'd rather focus on adding more maps for Warzone then adding BTB at a later date.
