Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Whats been surprising for me is that the problem with Warzone isn't the microtransactions as much as its super imbalanced against new players regardless. You start with basic gear while other players who have put more time in the mode could have all kinds of powerful stuff to bring out as the match REQ level increases. They'll have more powerful weaponry, kitted out with unique upgrades, and heavy weaponry and vehicles to deploy too, as needed. New players simply cannot compete until they themselves start to unlock more powerful gear themselves, and in quantity.

Is new-player-hazing and stomping just institutionalized in game design these days? Its a fun mode, and I'm looking forward to playing a lot more of it, but I really don't like those kinds of imbalances.

I've played like 2 rounds and dont feel underpowered at all.
The magnum is one of the best weapons in the game

I've only played a few matches but the other team in my last match was breaking out all kinds of vehicles and heavy weaponry. I personally had nothing to match up with that stuff, so had to get lucky with pistol kills and salvaging dropped weapons.

The matchmaking take into account how many REQ card you got. If you have a guy on your team that has a shit ton, the other team will also have a lot.
So on an individual level it can be very lopsided, but its balanced on the team-as-a-whole level? I can see some sense to that.

someone unranked just carried our team to victory with 22 kills, while I thank him for doing so he should have been playing other unranked and not me and others.

As it stands it feels like ranking means nothing if the game is going to put me against unranked.

Right.
Think I was expecting all my cards to be unlocked at level 1.

Nah. If it worked that way, the game would be extremely pay2win.

The idea is that the more powerful the weapon, the more points it will cost AND the later in the match you'll be able to use it.

Maybe it was a good player playing on a friends account?

Pretty much this. Chances are that as a whole, your team had a comparable enough Arsenal to the other team's.

He's gotta get his rank somehow.

Random Tip #1: If you don't want to hang in the air for 3 seconds after using a lift, just clamber.

Wow that's really useful

yes that is true but there's many unranked players out there, those people should play their unranked games together where possible.

I think the game is always giving you a hidden rank but I hate how they put all this effort into the system yet mix everyone up like it's not there.

And just to be sure, even with those imbalances I've had a great time with the mode, and am definitely going to binge on it for a bit this weekend :) Its a fun time and performs great.

I'd just love the ability to turn off the upsells, since I've almost bought a REQ pack by accident once already. Wasn't sure which of the types of packs listed were ones I already had as opposed to ones I had to buy. So, fine, sell them, but let me turn that off because I won't be buying them myself and would like that not to get in the way or have a store page load up by accident while trying to play.

Nice, cant wait for videos of people doing trick jumps on maps, one of my favorite things on Halo MP.

If you watch the latest Spring Episode, there is a Forge map shown off where the new jumping mechanics is shown off to get around the map. Almost Titanfall style. :D

I didn't expect to spend roughly double the time in Warzone that I do in Arena.

But here I am, hopelessly addicted to it.

Well done 343i. You may have finally left a [positive] lasting mark on Halo moving forward.

Arena is still fun, I just can't be bothered to play with randoms any more and my buddies are still being stubborn about finishing the campaign on legendary first. I'll probably get back to it eventually.... though the lack of a dedicated objective playlist is really bumming me out.

Im loving the campaign! Im on mission 8 so far and the amount of detail in the levels is just mind-blowing. I really like how creative 343 are with the environment design.
No doubt it'll be my favourite campaign after Halo 1 if it keeps on like this.

Yikes, what happened to the Covenant ships..

Still haven't gotten a single sniper yet in Warzone, opened plenty of packs though. I pretty much see a ton of people running around with all kinds of fancy weapons.

So was there this kind of an outrage over aiming when the absolute shit-show of Halo 3 was in its prime?

That aim acceleration is literally the worst imaginable.

I am going to have to stop running Arena without a group. Im in no way a great player but I dont know how these people I am getting paired up with ranked into Platinum.

Anyone else occassionally getting really severe rubber banding and connectivity issues in arena? It's working fine most of the time but every 5 or so matches I'll get instances where I shoot at an enemy and they take no damage and then I'll eventually either be dead and respawned, or be rubber banded way back, or be kicked back to the lobby with an error. I don't think it's anything at my end.

i noticed some rubber banding this morning.

I'm really enjoying Warzone Assault. It's got the same fun req leveling system, but acts as a more streamlined version of Warzone if thats what you fancy at the time.

Yep, the tighter map focus is welcomed. Now if they would add a real flag or bomb unlock after attacking the base we'd have another step up.

There is a world of difference playing Warzone in a small party vs. a big one. We had 11 last night and went on a nice winning streak.

Coop in Aus with 4 continues to be a smooth experience too.

Enjoying it alot so far multi is solid more options on the way to make it even better. Campaign playing on legendary and just beat mission five
fuck the warden

Seriously, wtf... I've started like ten games one man down. CTF on truth is damn near impossible when you start 3v4.

I don't know what it is, but everyone seems so small like Power Rangers in this game. It's really evident when you use Locke's helmet with a different set of armor.

Wish there was map voting so that way I will never have to play Orion again, it's universally hated and ugly right?

It's started growing on me lately, but that's probably because I've gone a combined 45-10-9 my last 3 matches on it, lol

Yes, it's not great. I like that they were going for something asymmetrical but still 'even' in an arena, but it didn't work out.

I've finally jumped into arena and have been pouring time into SWAT. Absolutely love this game. Only complaint so far are the spawns. You'll get two or three spawns in a row where you go down before you get a chance to move. Sometimes you'll die and they'll spawn you right where your body is dropping to get smoked again. Obviously it's exacerbated by the one hit kills, but it can be frustrating.

Last night I literally spawned in the same spot 6 times in a row and got killed within a second every time. That was fun.
