Ha, Trifecta. It's not a trifecta of guns/grenade/melee in Halo 5. Keep telling yourself that it still is.
What is it then? I use all those tools to get my kills in this game. Keep telling yourself that it isn't

I want to be able to be the underdog. Against all odds, take down an entire team of 4 because my asshole teammates all quit.
You could do that in most of the previous Halos. Join in progress fucked that up a bit though, but thats another story.
It's simply not possible in Halo 5. You'll get obliterated. You kill one, he's back with his crew within seconds. Sprint, clamber, dash. You'll literally always be fighting them coming at you all at once.
And that's part of what made Halo awesome back then. We all like to be a lone wolf sometimes. The hardcore player was king. The individual was unstoppable when you got good. THAT is why it had a massive pro community. Whether it be FFA or team based matches, your skill shone. That is why, or partly why, people played it like FUCKING crazy. To get that perfection. Oh how sweet it was.
So yes, keep disagreeing with me. The guys who kicked ass at Halo in the past no matter which game, whether it be FFA or team, will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. It's not a game you love, it's not a game you get obsessed about any more. It's hard to be when there's less shooting and more acrobatics. Oh and nades. Nades lying everywhere. Remember how you used to make a dash for the grenades? That satisfaction of outgunning your opponent for them? Hell even just jumping towards them.
this isn't exactly true, and if you are doing it this way you aren't a good player. there are many things that come before melee
melee is a defenisve last go to measure unless you easily have the upperhand in a very lose battle. you never want to think of going to melee honestly. Halo is a skill movement, positioning , map control and skill in shot game. Watch any MLG game and you shouldn't see melee's being a bit part of it as much as nice shots and well place nades.
The core of halo has always been the basic idea of map control, learning the game so you have a good feel when to go left right, over or under in various situations (along with weapon control ) understanding where your opponets could spawn and could be without seeing them to get the drop on them. and then out shooting them to your advantages with all of the above.
there is a reason good players can either rush or wait against lesser players that are camping. They have too many ways to kill the camper and can easily out skill them when they are in a battle that was initially in the campers advantage.
Jesus christ, I've yet to play people this unaware of their surroundings.Huh....dont seem to be having a problem over here.

So because the weapons [BR and every other fucking weapon] sucked balls, and allowed you to stay alive longer made the game good for you? WTF am I reading right now. H3 gunplay was the fucking worst, almost the same level as reach for me and I played the shit out of 3.
Breakouts actually pretty cool. And I love the VR look if I can call it that haha. I actually thought they'd be great slayer maps. ;D
You never gonna get it.I'm still waiting on that Gamertag.

It's not worth presenting this argument in this thread man; for a lot of people in here, this is the first Halo game they're actually decent at, which is why they have such a positive relationship with it. It's just not a good Halo game, and would make a bland game under any other name.

Is there any general ETA on future maps?

The issue is that while halo 5 has those things, it has it in a much different way and with designs that changes it too much from what a lot of fans want.I never suggested you run around trying to melee everybody you see. And that still wouldn't work in Halo 5.
But it has a place in the sandbox, and frankly, if you allowed a player to get close enough to you to kill you with it, that's on you.
I agree with everything else you said about what Halo is, and I don't think Halo 5 changes that. What it does is provide new wrinkles for players trying to achieve those ends to consider. Locking down and controlling a map was once a fairly horizontal enterprise. Now you have to be aware of all 3 dimensions, as players can approach from multiple heights and angles thanks to the clamber. It's a greater challenge, but it's not a change in philosophy.
Anyone up for playing a little? GT is Jarlaxle.
It isn't exactly as you are thinking. It isn't that the BR sucked it's that the bullets felt like they actaully had true movement/positioning that had to be delt with. Staying alive a little bit longer against people who shot bullets over your shoulder and to actually stay alive longer was good.
I on't know if you played h3 enough to really get into it. But being able to stay alive a bit longer in those situations actually made the game more fun. head shots almost always worked as long as you could aim at their head.
While hit scan is very arcade like and I like the arcade aspects of Halo quite a bit, halo 3 really went in to depth with their crucial coding of movement, weapon hit indicators, grenade bounces and things that were all super arcade, but all just flowed so well in a rich and in depth design. The br was a part of this in depth and crucial design as well imo
Hit to scan is simple and easy, its touching the pixels, it kills. Half the time I feel I miss and I still kill people in Halo 5. In H3 the aiming was easier, better and I felt I had to actually hit them with actual bullets versus hit to scan. Even I would have never though I would like such a thing to be fair to your idea. But, it just works well in BR battles.
I'd say that's true. I'm Diamond in team arena, and there really aren't all that many melees going on. A lot of the time they're avoidable thanks to thrusters. Usually it occurs when two people end up right near each other unexpectedly, or when you sneak up on someone it seems. That is exactly what 5 is. Holy shit at the rose tinted glasses. Go play some Diamond level players and come back and let me know how many melee's you see being used.

People that can't accept dat Halo 5 magic
Wait a minute, have I now become a 343 Shill?
Pit was great, narrows would have been good but dynamic spawns fucked it. Construct was always terrible lol.
I think they said monthly? So we'll probably see the first by mid-november.
Monthly starting in December, I believe.
Here is my H3 Profile. I will let you be the judge of how much I played H3.

I fully understood the mechanics, that did not make it any less cumbersome. I did not forget when my shots landed on people but did not get a kill. At least with hit scan, If I die in a fight, I am missing shots. I feel sorry for everyone who does not like the gunplay in 5, this is the first Halo game where every, yes EVERY weapon can be used to get kills even in a competitive environment.
December is a safe bet for at least the BTB maps. I could see a new WZ map hitting soon as well, I think the Arena maps will be early next year.

Yeah, he also has plans to stop war.Lol, is that Colbert?
Arena/Breakout? Or Warzone? If Arena/Breakout... i'm down.
How do I turn off this flipping aim assist? This is driving me nuts.
I didn't have a problem with my shots hitting even at mid to semi long distances other than "lag" and bad connections that was all over H3. I don't need every gun to be used to get kills though. I think most guns can get kills in H3 and the point of having a BR is that you are the one who find tha more power sought off weapon and you have to work harder and get it off the other player so you an take control of it. I rather love this design philospohy instead of having it easy to have any weapon and get kills.
If MCC worked for me, I am sure I'd still be on H3 in a few weeks. Since H5 has servers, I don't really have much of a choice in what I play though. Atleast the game will work for me... MCC won't work and I can't really play all of H3 that I'd like.
GTs of both?
The weapon balance was complete and utter shit in Halo 3, and you're saying that's a good thing? Troll confirmed.
Before you ask.
Yeah, Orion is unanimously the worst map of Halo 5 and easily one of the worst maps in Halo history. If you spawn out in the rocks you're fucked.
only a few days ago i said the same thing and got flamed for it. i was even quoted by stinkles.
vindicated.
One look at it would be enough to tell that.
Hope they have the balls to remove it from the game and not attempt to fix it. The changes it would need to be good would render it unrecognizable.
hate when people don't agree with something and throw out troll blah blah balh... really annoying when you are trying to be serious.

I was shooting a guy across the map and I had someone else thrust in front me, dragging my whole reticle across the screen to follow him instead.
sigh

GT: gun fer hire
Because you're saying it's perfectly ok that only one weapon in an entire sandbox is viable, that's just completely fucking stupid, I'm sorry.
Hey someone make this avatar transparent for me, I love you long time. ;(
