Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Vader is a cool looking villain but turns out he's just a moron doing someone else's job for them, for no real reason... He even gets killed in a stupid way.

So, same as Maul except he actually speaks more than two lines.

Incapable of jumping up I guess.

Vader's cyborg implants kept him alive but didn't seem to enhance his battle abilities much, unlike Grievous, even though they had the same level of damage when they were cyborgized.

I don't remember where I heard it (so it's probably nonsense) but the way it was told to me was Vader's prosthetics severely limited his mobility and range of movement, but trying to block his attacks was like trying to stop a freight train.

Absolutely gutted that hardly any IMAX cinemas are showing the version with the true 70mm IMAX footage.

In the UK, the only place to see it is the Science Museum in London, with the rest showing the IMAX 3D version.

That image is non canon. The Clone Wars show his transition from warrior to cyborg. It was gradual as he was obsessed with enhancing himself.

He actually keeps statues of himself at each stage of the transformation in his lair.

I noticed that Harrison Ford has top billing... He must have a good agent, but does this mean he movie will "follow" him, and he will be the star with the most screen time? I bet it does. I speculate that it follows his "journey" and him and Chewie are off on their own.

Of course he has top billing, there is no one within a light year of him career wise associated with this film. He didn't need a good agent for that.

TFA will be Han centered

Like the guy above me said, even outside of what's actually happening in this movie, Harrison Ford would get top billing because he's the biggest Hollywood star by a large margin.

But...JJ has said that the presence/lack of presence for different characters in the film's promo material is not accidental...

That's because he's the most famous person in this film and is probably getting paid the most. Current cast is as such:

Harrison Ford
Carrie Fisher
Maybe Mark Hammill
Guy no one's ever heard of
Another guy no one's ever heard of
Guy in mask no one's ever heard of
Girl no one's ever heard of

Mark Hamill has second billing. Makes me wonder.

Have a peek at the billing block...

Carrie has third right?

I think next film this wont be the case, this is all very carefully done to excite people for the film.

What? "I wasn't too excited about the new Star Wars movie until I noticed the order of billing on the poster. Tickets bought!"

They are the three main legacy actors from the OT. Three iconic roles. They are not going to be billed anywhere other than at the top.

Funny reading the reactions to the Disney buyout in 2012. People were pretty negative :p

I'll be the first the admit that was my mentality at the time. I just assumed it was going to be the prequels all over again and I was not excited to deal with all the arguments that come along with that.

But with every announcement they made, I grew more and more excited. The announcement of the full cast was when I first thought "Well...maybe this could be good." Here's hoping it pays off in a month and a half.

edit: and sneaking in right under the wire on the first page:
Haha, of course.

I think they are trying to sell this first film as big as possible but it would be a huge mistake to indicate beyond this that the trilogy is about them, its not at all, its about the new characters, the legacy ones are there very much to pass the baton.

Mayhews been talking, he gets quite candid about Boyega and Ridely

http://bmag.com.au/your-brisbane/br...d-it-chewie-an-interview-with-peter-mayhew-2/

“John, I liked very, very much. He’s a great actor. We had several scenes together, and John is one of those guys who knows how to react to any situation. He’s got a marvelous face… he’s got a wonderful personality. He has an advantage because he has a comic’s sense of humour.

“Daisy… was a little bit solid. More like Natalie [Portman] on the other movies [the prequels]. But I think, once she gets to see everything going on, she’s going to enjoy it, because it’s going to relax her. She’s going to be one hell of an actress. She will tell you, she will say, ‘I never thought we could do this, but now I see it’.

“When we were at Star Wars Celebration, she was completely different to how she was on set… I think she got taken aside by her agent and told not to be too stiff. So we watched her blossom, from a quiet young lady, into the girl who was there at Star Wars Celebration. She had blossomed; she was beautiful and full of personality. I think she’s got a lot of personality still to come out, and if the right movies come along, she will do very, very well.”

Hmm :o

Interesting to see how she is in the film

Who wants to make the crow eating thread when the film's good? Dalek can do it.

I'm not really surprised she sounded daunted. It's a huge deal seeing she was only in a few TV shows over here before. In comparison Boyega always looks like nothing ever phases him.

Also implies Boyega will have some comedy about him in the film, which is nice to hear

I expect the movie to suffer the same fate as Age of Ultron. Good fun movie unable to live up to the hype.

I wouldn't be surprised if some people think Sith or Jedi to be better

Definitely. A few of the quotes his toy says are pretty funny without even knowing the context.

Where's the fun in that?

It would be kind of funny if he was a bit stupid, or just kind of reckless, always on impulse

I get the feeling Rey is the more meticulous of the two

But the hype is self-imposed. Lucasfilm literally did the opposite of advertising for this vs. Ultron. I think we've seen maybe 3 minutes total footage out of 2 hrs and 16 minutes of film? I prefer it this way - they've learned their lesson.

Age of Ultron was the worst film I have seen this year, its so mind numbingly stupid and the action scenes blend into one.

This wont remake the wheel but I hope to god its not set piece after set piece with exposition to get to the next set piece with minimal thought involved.

God, I hope so. My main worry for the film is the characters not being people I'd want to hang out with. I trust they will be, but nothing in any of the trailers has suggested much of a fun personality for the characters, outside of Finn' "oh shit!" during his fight with Kylo.

I liked his expression when he landed on Jakku.

The first Star Trek trailer was pretty serious, when the film is actually pretty light-hearted and has a good sense of humour. I think TFA will be the same.

Only one sequence was shot using IMAX cameras...

The desert crash sequence involving Finn's TIE Fighter

But theatres are maxmising showings of the 3D IMAX version because it's cheaper to put on and doesn't require the additional Laser projection to work the 3D - some cinemas in the UK are ONLY showing 3D versions on the opening days.

Although as a side note - it looks like Star Wars: Rogue One and Captain America: Civil War are being shot with a new version of 2D IMAX camera.

What...so there aren't a lot of full screen scenes like Nolan films? Fuck..only reason why I chose IMAX.

So Finn is a Tie-Fighter pilot? But why does he wear a standart trooper uniform?

I got the impression that he was a tie fighter pilot who then turns and joins the rebels. Who knows.

He probably runs away from the First Order using a TIE Fighter.

There's a scene in the second teaser of someone flying a TIE in a hangar. I'm guessing that's him.

He'd be wearing this if he was.

Yeah, but why is he then why is he in Standart Uniform an Jakku?

I mean it would make sense that he runs away, we have even footage from a Tie-Fighter that runs amok inside if a Stardestroyer, its most likely the same that flies broken away in the newest trailer.
But like I said, it wouldnt make sense that he has the white standard uniform on the planet itself - When I run away from a military organisation, I would try to hide that I was once one of them and especially when I was member of the galactic empire, which is most likely not that beloved.

True, but it looks like he ditches the armour after he lands.

Oh man, the Disney buy anouncement thread and the EU Purge thread have lots of gems.

A Crow-eating thread is completely possible with just those threads, lol.

I for one am thankful for these young actors who are donating their careers to Star Wars. They know it's a franchise that demands sacrifice.

I saw the second trailer on IMAX 3D this week-end (Just before The Walk, which was very good) and it sucked. Unreadable action scenes, "translucent" lasers and ships, no way I'm seeing this one in 3D.

It's pretty impossible with what little we've seen which is good. It's fun to speculate though.

Lol, they've used rumours/leaks in combination with the teasers/trailer to build a pretty detailed plot summary about the movie. And all of the footage that's been released so far strenghtens that plot summary.
There's a lot more info in those teasers/trailer than you think.

I think Wadium's talking about people who are only trying to speculate based solely on officially released stuff. In which case it would be hard to guess what the movie's really about, because officially released stuff (Vanity Fair/Empire coverage, the trailers, con interviews) doesn't go all that deep.

Of course anyone actually looking to spoil themselves outside of that stuff is going to know more than someone trying to stay spoiler free.
