Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Warzone Assault doesn't seem to be very good. It seems to be way too easy to turtle up as the defenders and win every match. Even without using requisitions it's pretty easy since vehicles really can't get into the smaller bases.

So...how long do bans last?

I played a match where I accidentally betrayed a teammate using a fuel rod (I killed them and the enemy player) and then I got booted for it.

Then I played a normal match after, did nothing wrong, and now I'm banned.

:(

Cool fell of a map a couple times because it was tricky and fighting and now I'm banned for 7 hours on my one day off. Thanks 343.
Wow, that's dumb. Falling off the map is pretty common for new players.

Why is there only 3 Warzone maps.

Invasion only had 2 so progress I guess.

There was a third Invasion Map as DLC.

Anyway, I think we'll be getting one Warzone map - as well as its Assault counterpart - with each DLC, sort of like how Call of Duty does it with Zombies. We've gotten a possible preview of the next map in a multiplayer trailer:

latest

The only other possibility is that it's a BTB map, but then again the building in the background strongly resembles a Warzone main base.

I definitely think the Warzone scoring could be improved. Bosses count for too many points, pvp kills don't count for enough, and capturing bases should carry more weight. I'll be guarding a base and have like 20 kills and be near last place on my team.

I like having PvP kills not being worth much. If you want to play slayer, then just play slayer.

I'm not sure kills are worth anything atm, to be honest. And I'm fine with that. Kills should only be a means to an end in objective modes. You don't get points for kills in CTF, etc.

I do think holding bases should account for a bit more though.

And for the love of god, award points for boss kills based on damage.

I want to play the entire sandbox gamut, which is how 343 marketed Warzone. Getting player kills should be rewarded, especially considering it's the most difficult part of the game.

Getting to 1000 points is the objective though, there are a bunch of things you do in Warzone, but only one of those things is actually rewarded. Player kills should just be another way to get points, thats all I'm saying.

Wow, suddenly I'm lagging like crazy. My grenades are throwing pretty much a full second after I hit the button, and I can see the bullets from my AR are late as well. Guess I'll wait a bit before I continue my qualifying matches in the arena playlist...

Oh man do I like arena. I spent the week trying to come to grips with warzone. I think there's some really good ideas in warzone but ultimately the sheer unpredictability of what cards will be burned and what you're going to have to grapple with from encounter to encounter is just too much for me, I don't think it's balanced enough to be fun outside of a pure mayhem kind of way.

Started on Arena today however, and it's just bloody brilliant. Great fun, great maps, just really pleased. Everything feels tight and well thought out, very classic feeling but elevated with the new abilities and thus new ways to interact with each map. The pure simplicity of the halo competitive gameplay loops vs modern days shooters is really refreshing to have all shiny and new again, even when I love plenty of other games on the market today as well.

Only minus kind of ties back into warzone really. I find the loop of earning req points, redeeming packs, and seeing what cosmetic pieces I get for my spartan while playing Arena quite compelling. However, I really wish it was just like reach. I'd like to be earning currency through my single player play, daily challenges, and preferable be buying the bits and pieces of armor outside of the req system. Firefight mode where I can actually see my guy in the colours I've picked for him would be great too, not that I have anything against red and blue :P

Warzone bases do not, as far as I can tell, provide any points whatsoever. And that's fine, it's not a control mode, it's Warzone.

What they do do, aside from providing map control through spawning, is increase the rate you earn REQ energy. Which can be CRAZY powerful. Sitting in a base picking people off doesn't help your team though, you need to be out there spending that energy on stuff.

Early online impressions are... uneven. Certainly, having to contest a 4-1 slayer match when the rest of my team left wasn't much fun.

Started out champion 10 in breakout, but I haven't played it in about a week, so I ranked down to champion 176. I figured I'd play a match so I didn't lose my champion rank. Got into a match and wrecked some kids (went solo but luckily got good teammates). After the match, after they see me my rank, I hear them all saying "wow, he shouldn't be a champion. He's garbage".

So stay salty other team and thanks for the champion 132 :)

Are you sure?

I normally see a one point increase everytime the first base is captured, but that may be from people rushing ahead and dying. Still, it's happend often enough for me to take note of it.

i cant aim for shit in breakout. i dont get it. also remove from arena pls.

I think that that's just somebody getting ganked. I've noticed that whenever I stop seeing red X's, I stop seeing points increase.

Anyway, anybody want to play anything? Been running solo all day and Warzone is pretty brutal like that. Up for Arena too, tho.

I know you got this resolved, but this was fixed for me when I exited the MM queue to the main menu. Got a "you have been disconnected" error message and a pile of REQ points and XP.

update: actually there is another issue. when this happens, and it just did again, my XP boost card doesn't seem to have been used because it's showing up the next match too.

Yeah I was just in warzone and think your right.

If you get that lobby going, I'll hop in. Arena or warzone , it doesn't matter.

Looking to add more people to our warzone train.

GT in profile, message for invite . Anyone else want to play warzone?

I disagree. The less emphasis on pvp, the better. Like the other poster said, there are plenty of pvp options if that is what you're looking for. BTB will add to my argument soon.

Finished my Team Arena placements, managed to land in Plat 1 despite 4-5 of my games having quitters and/or AFKers. I hope the ban system can curtail that nonsense in a hurry.

Anyway, what's the story with the DMR? I got to use it a couple times one match and it didn't feel all that different from the pistol, but I chalk that up to being a newb. What's the appropriate usage case for the DMR?

You get 1 vp per 5 seconds per bases you hold.

Halo salt is the best salt.

Am I missing something, or is there no way to see what your friends are doing from inside Halo 5? I need to open my dashboard friends list to see what mode they're doing.

There should be a sell all button for req packs. Same as Titanfall I just don't use them at all. Selling them one by one is a pain, I just want armour and loadout weapons for Warzone
At the very least there should be a slider to let you select how many of any one item you want to sell. I just sold ~20 mongooses (mongeese?) and it would have been nice if when I went to sell it I could just choose how many.

Since the points you get for holding bases are so little, the only real incentive to having them is to protect your core. Why not have a score multiplier that enhances your reward when getting kills.

That way bases are more valuable... Might have to up the final score, but it would add some urgency...

Yeah I wish it was like Destiny where you can see what activity they're doing, and who is in their fireteam

Honestly the worst offender in the Halo 5 multiplayer experience is that pitiful excuse for an in game roster. The snapped friends app is much more informative.

Man this game is so good. Warzone is great, and breakout is too. Thought I was bad (I am) then I just spectated Frankie's last game. Made me feel infinitely better. Lol

Yeah, it's really bad I understand why it is that way, but it's terrible.

yeah it sucks. Halo Reach was awesome. Even counted down how long left in the match and showed the score.
Yeah, I didn't like Reach all that much, but the UI was amazing, probably the best I've ever used in a console game. Bungie is really good at UIs.

I don't see any excuse.
