Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Sprint and verticals. I had a really eloquent explanation from a designer that I'm not going to paraphrase and thus butcher, but it made me go, "Aaaah, of course!"

Remind me to post it verbatim on Wednesday.

Stinkles, did we ever get an in-depth about this?
I love the radar change, so I'm interested in the internal design discussion that led to it.

Solo, Legendary:

I almost broke my controller in two in the first Warden fight. I brought an incendiary cannon with me, but not enough ammo to bring the Warden down. Constant stream of soldiers wearing you down and AI team mates made me crazy. Probably would've lost my shit if it weren't for an extra cannon on a floating platform.

Pro tips for the following Warden fights?

Do a search for the skip all 3 Wardens on youtube. Unless you want to throw your controller at the tv. Lol

I'm currently at the very last battle in the game in my solo legendary run. Frustrating only due to the amount of enemies and the idiotic ai companions. Lol

Adding some people in here right now. I primarily play that digital crack Arena. I'm normally soloing, so any chance at forming a group is welcome. I've still yet to get a feel for Warzone though.
GT is Deputy Dongle

That reminds me, Is the zoom in Theater mode broken for anyone else? It's listed in the UI controls, but it straight up doesn't work for me.

Haha look at your last 20 posts, 90% in halo topics shiting on the game, get a life my friend.

You mean the twenty posts that were most likely in the same conversation about the same topic outside of my complaints about the story? I've talked about plenty of positives about the game, including the Models, multiplayer, frame rate being rock solid (and I applaud 343 making graphical compromises to reach this as it is multiple times more important than pretty graphics), and some of the game modes (Breakout is particularly fun), but I guess I've learned my lesson, better be 100 percent positive all the time or shut my mouth.

Every single one of your posts has been comparing this game in some way to the PC.
Where did I ever compare the game to the PC in any way? Unless you're assuming that talking about KB+M controls is "comparing to the PC" as if there have never been any console games that allow you to use a KB+M. Either way this argument is pointless as it's essentially just complaining about opinions from both sides.

On topic though, has there been any news about how we will vote for the weekend playlists? Will it be through Waypoint/Halo channel or handled in game as well?

I got a lawgiver certification card. Yo.

You know what DLC I would buy for this?

While I do like the announcer...

(Character Spoiler)
An Exuberant Witness Multiplayer announcer would be glorious.

"Friendly fire! How exhilarating!"
"Careful, humans - Warden will notice that flag's absence."
"I see what the Warden means about your penchant for spray-and-pray as a first solution."

I'm almost finished with the campaign... I really don't understand the hatred for it..

Yeah the story is a bit campy... But that's pretty much how all the campaigns have been, except for Reach and ODST.

But the gameplay was top notch... I really enjoyed the level design. Sure it was lacking it true open arenas, but the linear sections (let's face it, most halo levels are linear) were very open to explorations and experimentation; more so than in any Halo campaign before it. And there was no backtracking! That's gotta count for something..

But yeah, fuck the last boss fight. I cheesed my way through the one prior, but skipped the last altogether... Didn't even try.

I will say this , the visuals on Sunaion are strange... They aren't nearly as impressive as the rest of the game. I was hoping for an improvement over the E3 build, but it just looks shoddy. I don't know if it's due to the variable resolution, but I found it really off putting... The gunfights were fantastic in it though...

My main complaint with the campaign so far is its boring. Not much at all is happening. But again I have only finished mission 5 so I'm still pretty early and I hear the 2nd half is way better. If that true I just think 343 should have paced the game a lot better because mission 1 was fun but the next 4 almost nothing has happened

I got placed in Silver 1, I've won 3 games on the run after I was placed and haven't ranked up. How long does it take to rank?

You're in for a world of hurt.

Look for better weapons around his areas and out teammates in safe spots.

The people telling you the second half is better are definitely right in my opinions. The Osiris missions are drastically better especially when it comes to environments.

If you time it correctly with the incineration cannon you can actually get them stuck in an animation loop where they keep chaining from damage animation to damage animation. It's especially useful in the last fight as it can basically cut down 2/3s of them at once.

I think the initial teaser and this are supposed to represent what will happen in the future(chiefs visor is still cracked) and 343 are probably leading up to it.

no way would they tease cloaked chief in toys, a trailer and concept art and not do anything with it

ehh could be wrong too but its fun speculating

Yup

I'm really getting sick of the ranking system. Why do I get punished when I do really well but the rest of my team was awful, dropped, or was a afk? It's my rank, not a team rank.

I know it's stupid to get irked by this, I'm not some great Halo player but seeing that red down arrow when I had 20 kills or the most flag caps or whatever is grating.

Are you sure?

I normally see a one point increase everytime the first base is captured, but that may be from people rushing ahead and dying. Still, it's happend often enough for me to take note of it.

Not sure if this has already been answered, but yes, bases absolutely 100% give you one point every few seconds for each one held.

I had no idea mp worked like this (REQs, AI on the battlefield, etc.) Don't know how I feel about it yet.
Also, game froze on me twice so far today. The first time in the middle of a single player mission and the next time in the multiplayer menus.

Ranking is based on whether your team won or not. If it was based on kills or some other individual measure people wouldn't play to win, they'd play to boost their stats on whatever way measures an "individual" win.

Ranked FFA is there if you want to be judged only on individual performance (although there are still a few issues with that game type skill definitely shines through).

Not all MP. Warzone is like that, arena is 4v4 with equal starts and weapon pickups on the map.

There is still Arena multiplayer and normal Big Team Battle is coming by the end of the year.

Isn't it set so if you're in the top 2 or 3 on the losing team you still advance,or am I thinking of a different game? If it's not in H5 it would be a great fix to this problem.

It's a team game, the win is all that matters.

Seriously 343, either add join in progress or ban these little quitting bitches for long periods of time. Getting sick of this now.

Yeah, if someone quits they need to be banned from queuing again for 30 minutes and if they do it again in the same day then an hour.

Something significantly more severe since people are still quiting just as much as they were in past Halo games, which is a fuck ton.

You really think they'd release a teaser in 2013 for a game that's coming out in 2017/8 at the soonest?

It was for Halo 5, by the way.

The studio that made it uploaded that version to their website.

Well your in a Team playlist, so it's judging your effectiveness in a team... Your individual stats mean nothing if you aren't helping your team do better. It's like a wide receiver who catches a lot of passes, but won't run block.
