Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Up to level 9 in campaign. Can't believe they didn't listen to feedback and made the story even more reliant on Halo fiction. Who made this call? They also completely shit on Halo 4's plot by bringing back Cortana in a completely convenient and trite way.

Also, the confrontation between Locke and Chief mid-game is so poorly edited/directed that it pretty much kills the entire scene. I don't care how intricate your choreography is, if you don't know how to edit it, it looks and feels like garbage.

All the cinematics feel compromised and the terrible, terrible, terrible, technique of fading to black just reeks of a director who doesn't know what to do with what he's been handed.

The campaign's plot is the hands down the worst in the franchise.

343 has fixed the mechanics of the game and it plays great. They're turning the fiction of the world into white noise that no one is going to care about, though.

A disappointment so far. =(
Wow, thanks for spoiling the plot for me.

I agree with the bold part.

After giving it some thought I suppose it is a cost of real time cinematics. Can't quickly cut to a new scene so fading in/out is used to better mask loading.

It still doesn't make those cuts any better.

If Halo Wars 2 is fall 2016, what is Fall 2017's Halo title? Assuming the mainline games are back on 3 year dev cycles again...

Anniversary DLC for Halo 3 in MCC. Blur cinematics and new character models for gameplay.

I couldn't disagree more. If you're coming strictly from 4, the only real detail not talked about is the fireteams. The entire story in 5 is self contained with nods to events from the expanded universe for those of us who do enjoy the books and comics.

Great spoilers by the way.

I played through with a friend and he was completely and utterly lost about what the Mantle and Domain were. They're explained in the game but it's so brief when they explain it that half the time during cutscenes he was just asking me to explain what the hell was going on. The mantle was sorta explained in some optional stuff in Halo 4 but it's still not explained very well in game.

Halo 3A or some spin off. Hoping for something completely different, not a shooter or at least a shooter with a completely different feel, an actual stealth based ODST game would be great.

Started my solo legendary play through, and man, that mission 5 ending is rage inducing. I don't think I've ever had as much trouble with previous halo legendary runs. Any suggestions?

Halo dating sim. You play as Master Chief, recently single after losing his long time AI helmet mate Cortana, looking for new love. Everyone is romanceable, from Halsey to Arbiter. Your choice in soulmate for the Chief will have a profound impact on how the story of Halo 6 plays out. For example, if you romance Linda then Kelly feels slighted and leaves Blue team.

I agree with this completly. I haven't been happy with a halo campaign since reach. I absolutely love MP though. As a halo fan I was upset at addition of Spartan abilities, but now I don't think I could go back. The only bad thing I can say about MP is the damn aim. Fix please! Also the changes made to break out. Beta was absolute perfection and the only new addition to the mode should have been the flag and nothing more. The new additions ruined the mode for me. Another thing war zone is freaking awesome, love it. Bosses should be random but good star for a new mode.

This guy got more variation in 3/4 packs than I got in 20 or so. Still haven't gotten a single sniper, nothing but spartan lasers, fuel rods and needlers lol.

I would buy Silver packs if your goal is commendations. The vast majority of cards you pull are going to be items you have commendations. After a while your packs will be far more diverse.

I totally disagree, but I'm finding this polarization of fans regarding the story fascinating, because I loved it.

As for the story being reliant on EU material, from personal experience, my boyfriend has been able to follow the campaign with absolutely zero EU background and he's been much more engaged than in 4 or 3. He's enamored with Osiris. Personally, I also liked the inclusion of Osiris, if only to get more perspective in the game from characters not Chief, Cortana, or Commander/Captain X.

Anybody else feel as if SWAT with BR's is better than SWAT with Magnums?

Both are fun but I definitely dominate with BR's.
100% yes.

I'm really kind of disliking the multiplayer.

It doesn't feel like halo it feels like call of duty "gotcha" kills where you can't do shit.

The maps are boring too.

I don't know how anyone can compare this to Call of Duty in any possible way. In what way do you feel the kills are "gotcha"?

I kinda hope we get Halo 6 in 2016. Feels weird saying that, but I can't wait for more this time. I really can't. Halo 4 made it easy to wait for 5, but now I'm antsy for more, I haven't felt this way since Halo 2's ending.

I'm better in Swatnums than I am in standard Swat. No idea why.

I kinda expect Halo 6 and it being the last proper Halo title on the Xbox One with them moving to whatever console is next for a 2020 release.

Which book, or comic book, or animated series will tell me why Blue Team is with Master Chief out of nowhere in this game? Because I don't understand why Blue Team is with Master Chief out of nowhere in this game.

You're making something out of nothing here. This is post from a week and a half ago. Seems like he's just proud of Halo 4, disappointed he couldn't do Halo 5 but is happy for his friend Kazuma and the people at 343. Maybe he was just down and reflecting on 3 years ago and his soundtrack wishing he could've done this one.
Neil did a good job and there are still a few Halo 4 tracks I que up from time to time. I still think it was the right move to go with Kazuma.

Seen this sentiment a number of times and I don't get it. H4/H5 spoilers:
Between all the hints in Halo 4 about the domain and the way Cortana 'died' in that game, it's clear looking back they were headed in this direction.

Anyone know the conditions for the Harbringer achivement, 'Complete The Breaking on Legendary difficulty without the entire fireteam dying.'

Does that mean no complete wipes, or does it mean the 4 members in total can't each get taken down individually?

I believe it was Halo Escalation 8-10. Someone might be able to provide a little more insight though since it's been a while since I read those.

Only time I feel like kills can be cheap is when I die from grenades sometimes. They are so plentiful on the map and the the blast radius is a little too big IMO.

Another thing i'd like to point out what the hell happened to Free For All?

My friends method of getting us ready for a team slayer is to have us play free for all in a couple of match. Nope, it's just yourself in a fire team you can't add anyone else.

Ya def needs some social playlist or something

He reunites with them in "The Next 72 Hours" arc of Escalation, they all go and hunt down the Didact literally days after Halo 4. after that they been doing mission after mission until Halo 5.

I saw a guy do this one twitch. I know its his money but jesus it made me shiver

Oh man, I got a suppressed DMR, but it's I think a level 7 weapon and I'm generally not good enough to get that high quick enough to get much use. I just got to use it for like 3 minutes when my team was at 910 points xD

I feel as though I'm with the minority on this but I think the majority of map designs are pretty shit. There's probably only 2 that I think are memorable. The rest just seem like some random made maps in forge during his free weekend. Pegasus I'm looking at you. The spawns are completely shit as well. I should not be able to see 5 people spawn in the same spot over and over again. People shouldn't be spawning on top of me either it's ridiculous.

To prevent boosting I guess. It's going to work against them though, just adds to the frustrating experience around the game without even taking into consideration the actual gameplay.

Same goes for non persistent lobbies.

And hiding stats and GTs pre-game. What the hell do they think they'll accomplish with this? You're simply going to have more people quitting in-game. Why not let them leave beforehand. Fucks sake who made these decisions?

That aside.... Skill gap has definitely narrowed with every player being a powerhouse, new mobility/speed/armor abilities and uneven matches have the enemy team regrouping faster than ever before even if you pick them off one by one but I'm finding ways. The light rifle is a fucking machine if used right haha.

I haven't unlock any DMRs cards as yet, I am waiting for that day as it's my favourite weapon.

I just finished the campaign and it wasn't very memorable. Story was boring and had hardly any character development. Controls felt solid, but the AI was terrible for teammates. I called for help one time and all 3 of the teammates ran to me. Problem was the enemy was right beside me and he killed them all before they could even reach me.

I also get annoyed when I run out of ammo mid fight. Then I have to run around and find a weapon. Usually a shitty pistol. I know that's Halo, but it's always kind of bugged me.

I may just trade it in to Best Buy this week since they got 50% bonus. I don't see myself jumping online with so many other games taking my time.

When my team is getting steam rolled in Warzone, I feel the game is at its worst. It's easy to feel like you're not contributing; most AI enemies can't be taken on solo, capture points are viable but tricky alone since there are only three, and once you start losing its only more likely to be out gunned by incredibly powerful cards.

I wish there were better ways to contribute and get points. I usually try to defend or attack bases when this happens and I'm awarded very few points unless I capture. Not to mention if I do face AI, the kill is frequently stolen.

I'd love for Warzone to be fun solo, but I just don't think it can be consistently.

3 v 4 in arena again, we were winning too...

teammate was insulting us and swearing so I filed a communications report, I hate it too but no need to slag everyone off.
