Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

Lol, they've used rumours/leaks in combination with the teasers/trailer to build a pretty detailed plot summary about the movie. And all of the footage that's been released so far strenghtens that plot summary.
There's a lot more info in those teasers/trailer than you think.
Oh I know. I've been avoiding most of it for months. I'm talking about officially released info as Bobby said.

I think Wadium's talking about people who are only trying to speculate based solely on officially released stuff. In which case it would be hard to guess what the movie's really about, because officially released stuff (Vanity Fair/Empire coverage, the trailers, con interviews) doesn't go all that deep.

Of course anyone actually looking to spoil themselves outside of that stuff is going to know more than someone trying to stay spoiler free.

Definitely true, I suppose it's commendable that they've been able to really get everyone hyped and still keep the overall story/plot a mystery. Guess it's just hard for me to remember what the people know that haven't been spoiled in any way. But I do think that if you watch some of those teasers/trailer analysis videos on youtube, there's a lot of info to be found in them, even without resorting to reading rumours/spoilers.
Ofcourse most people don't watch those/are not interested in them....

Heck for those who've stayed free of spoilers/rumours/etc it's still unknown what roles Max von Sydow, Andy Serkis and Lupita Nyong'o play in this movie. Not to mention Luke's role in the movie...

Well, we at least know Serkis and Lupita's character names, and I'm assuming she's the mysterious alien on the poster. As for Sydow...yeah, they really haven't said shit about him since the initial casting.

Not exactly a gigantic spoiler but this afternoon at Central Canada Comic Convention Tim Rose let slip that Admiral Gial Ackbar will be in The Force Awakens. He was telling a friend of mine how complicated the puppet was in the old movies and then said "Totally different this time around". While he didn't mean to say it, he said he wasn't in any trouble for doing it.

Ackbar's head was in the Comic Con video, so I don't think it was a spoiler.

What I'm curious about is if they got the same voice actor.

Yeah, but why is he then why is he in Standart Uniform an Jakku?

I mean it would make sense that he runs away, we have even footage from a Tie-Fighter that runs amok inside if a Stardestroyer, its most likely the same that flies broken away in the newest trailer.
But like I said, it wouldnt make sense that he has the white standard uniform on the planet itself - When I run away from a military organisation, I would try to hide that I was once one of them and especially when I was member of the galactic empire, which is most likely not that beloved.

maybe it's not HIM who runs away, but a rebel who kidnaps him. And since he becomes cooperative, the empire sends his captain to hunt him and the rebel. The rebel must be a pilot.

He's alone in the pic a few posts up.

I imagine Finn is a standard stormtrooper unit, but when he defects he needs to get out of there right away and since he's on a star destroyer his options are limited. So he's not a TIE Pilot, but that doesn't mean he doesn't at least have the basic knowledge to crash land one on the planet below. And then, as mentioned, he quickly dumps the armor. Not seeing any consistency errors in the trailers.

Problem is, when they stay to the previous established Lore, he cant were a standard uniform because there is/was almost no life support in a Tie-Fighter.

Finn being a Stormtrooper who jumps ship really answers some questions in the Star Wars universe that haven't been covered in the Star Wars films since the Stormtroopers are never given any sort of character outside of the handful of Clone Troopers in II & III.

I mean, come to think of it...the Empire really wouldn't let you just leave, would they? I would imagine there would be a bounty put on your head if you bailed and you'd probably be executed for attempting to leave formally.

And the technology could have changed in 30 years.
Why then the need for extra Tie Fighter pilot suits with a extra tube?

Looks like a tube for oxygen to me.

The Empire/First Order's tech is more advanced than the Rebel/Resistance's and X-Wing pilots don't use breathing apparatus. It's probably for the off chance they end up outside the fighter for whatever reason.

He only needs a few minutes of air. The oxygen trapped in the cabin when he closes himself inside is more than fine, massive overkill really.

The Stormtrooper armor is a sealed environment, so that's no problem for a few minutes of air.

Its EU Lore, but Tie-Fighter were made as cheap as possible to gain power through their masses of fighters. They had no hyperdrive, no shieldgenerator and no torpedo launcher, all these extras were introduced in Tie-Advanceds

Still, can be changed in the 30 years that have passed, but I can see them still hold on this idea.

In the rebels show, I think I remember in one Episodes they steal a Tie Fighter without the need of Oxygen tubes and that's set before a new hope and it's Cannon

"Lore" has nothing to do with this.

We see a TIE fighter blowing hell out of stormtroopers
We see a TIE fighter getting shot
We see a TIE fighter crashed on the surface
We see a guy in Stormtrooper armor
We see that same guy out of Stormtrooper armor

There doesn't need to be an examination of "Lore" to determine what happened and how it happened, besides which, any other questions as to how it went down is, I'm fairly certain, going to be pointed out in explicit detail when we watch the movie. It's not like we caught some sort of movie mistake in the trailer or anything.

TIEs do not come equipped with hyperdrives or life support systems, because they are designed to be carrier launched expendable short range fighters, unlike rebel starships that usually travel the hyperspace by themselves for surgical strikes. It's not about technology, it's about utility. That's why TIE pilots wear vacuum-proof life support uniforms while rebel pilots just put on jumpsuits and padding. The whole TIE escape scene in Rebels makes no sense from several standpoints but one can simply accept it as a plot-device copout, i.e. the air in the cockpit lasted for the 10 minutes it took for them to escape. More amazing to me is the fact that they managed to squeeze in 3 people into a single TIE/ln and managed to actually dogfight with it.

Cartoons, man. Deal with it.

Except the First Order TIEs (at least the one Finn apparently crashes) are clearly different -- there are thick vaned cylindrical structures on the sides of the fuselage from which the panel supports project, and we've seen rear-facing guns in the first trailer.

I'm not sure we can extrapolate that the vehicles have the same capabilities or limitations since there are such obvious physical differences.

Edit ah, you were talking about Rebels. I forget, did they go into space? I thought they just flew to another place on Lothal.

I've gotten to the point where I'm randomly saying Star Wars lines

Shut down all the garbage mashers on the detention level!

I've been re-watching the films (just finished Empire) and it's kinda incredible how much dialogue I remember (Empire in particular) even though it's been years since I last saw them.

Empire I feel is such a step up from the first. Vader in this film is absolutely imperious. Left a much bigger impression than in the first. Any time Chewie speaks is like nails on a chalkboard though and C3PO dialogue as comic relief is way too frequent.

I'm just rewatching them for the first time in a while too and Empire really makes the first feel small. Not to say it isn't a great movie too, but the scope of Empire is that much bigger. You can tell they actually had a big budget for that one.

Yeah I felt the same way which is odd considering there are no planets or moon sized stations being destroyed here and yet it feels grander.

Thank goodness the imperials haven't found them. Where could they be?
*R2-D2 beeping*
Use the comm-link? Oh my! I forgot, I turned it off.
*cut to heroes slowly being crushed to death with increasingly desperate John Williams music plays*
