Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

I feel bad for all you DMR-less folks.

I've got the base one and a promethean version with a skin :3

Got my DMR fairly early. Like sub level 10.

I barely use it though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Look, right. You can just clear off!

And you!

If you have a Longshot BR, you basically have a DMR.

It unlocks so late in the game usually, I barely get to use it lol.

My Sentinel BR unlocks at Level 5 and is a delight!

I just want the DMR to complete the challenges with it.

Learn where the DMRs and BRs spawn because the low amount of auto-aim on the pistol makes it hard to use.

this is terrible advice lol

Anyone got any tips for a lowly noob?

Last Halo I played was 2 way back in the day. Any general tips for multiplayer? I find the horizontal turning to be really slow even on higher sensitivities. Is this intentional?

Thanks!

While you should make yourself familiar with the weapons on map, be sure to get good with the magnum. dont just toss it aside for a br or dmr constantly since the pistol is good and its the main utility weapon of halo 5. If you are good with it you will be several steps above the average AR spammers & people that can only use map pickups.

Other tips, i suggest learning bumper jumper & if your hyper competitive get a scuf or elite controller. with one of those you never have to take your thumbs off the sticks to do crazy things. Or you can just claw(using your index finger on right hand to hit abxy instead of thumbs).

other tips, learn call outs. pay attention to the radar as it tells you what areas of the map are labeled as. in matchmaking especially ranked if you are higher ranked you will find more people in game chat with mics communicating. you want to be able to understand their call outs so you can contribute properly.

I unlock my Longshot BR at REQ 3, it's up within the first few minutes usually. Now if I could have a DMR with that timing in Warzone I'd be a happy man.

I don't consider them the same at all, I play far far better with a DMR at mid and long ranges.

I meant the DMR, it's a 6, and I have a long barreled version at 8. If I'm with a party, shit's over before it starts, lol.

Ah got ya, I misread it mate. Hopefully the DMR can be moved up a level or 2, REQ 6 is too late. Player weapon choice, match timing or spawn wise, is a bit out the window in Warzone.

Funny I miss the base loadouts of Halo 4 now (not the random ordnance drops though).

Req 6 for dmr seems fine to me? the couple games I've had the dmr I used it for half the game if not more.

As long as youre playing the objectives you get exp rather quickly

I get the Sentinel BR at Level 5, which I find very fair.

Always happens eventually in a game.

6 might be too long though...

I agree with what your saying on the pistol being important and to practice with it.

For halo 5, I can definitely feel the difference in auto-aim and so instead of focusing all my time with the utility weapon (which in some games can feel a bit masochistic), I am sure to pick up those weapons which are easier to use when I get the chance.

What? I'm on default controls, left trigger is my ADS/single zoom. You know what, let me get home and I'll confirm.

"I think the stick still double zooms when you are scoped."

Are we talking about different things? with the Recon setup, clicking the right stick scopes in. Two clicks double scopes.

Climbed from gold 1 to plat 1 through Team Arena. It was frustrating sometimes, but overall a pretty nice climb.

The only change I'd like in the game right now is a decrease from 8 seconds to spawn to 4-6 in Capture the Flag. The mode can get extremely frustrating with 8 second spawns on smaller maps like Truth.

I think a better solution would be to divide Permanent REQ's into two categories. Game play affecting and cosmetic only.

So this way, they could also change Gold, Silver to reflect this. One guaranteed game play affecting permanent REQ and one guaranteed cosmetic permanent REQ.

The last thing you want is someone who wants armors and helmets getting another SMG they don't want/can't use, or likewise, someone going for DMR getting stuck with another emblem or visor color.

I have the extra light grenade upgrade and it's amazing, my fave nade and great for blocking doorways because people are scared of the glowing dots of death.

How do they determine rank after 10 matches, exactly? My friend and I did the exact same matches 10 but got different ranks. He did better than me in KDR in almost every game yet I got a better rank than him (Slayer)

dice roll

Dice roll between all ranks?

Your matchmaking in Arena will be determined by your Competitive Skill Rating (CSR). This rating will be assigned after 10 placement matches. Depending on your performance in these matches, you'll be lumped into one of seven ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Onyx, and Champion. Then, it's time to start climbing the ladder:

When you equip, does that mean you always start with one of them?
Once you hit the required REQ level you can equip it and it sticks with you even if you spend REQ on other things, but if you use the nade and die I think it will not refresh that extra grenade until you hit the REQ level again for the match.

Example, hit 5, equip extra nade, use it and die, respawn with nade, call in warthog, use nade, die, no grenade until REQ refills and you respawn.

Dice roll between all ranks?

was joking, but it feels like RNG with the ranking.

Just curious, for the people lamenting not yet having unlocked DMR: have you been buying golds / silvers / some strategic combination of all three?

e: Im SR19 and don't have it either.

Lol, entire team on Apex raining fire down on Warden Eternal from the Spire and from the ground, strafing around to target the weak side.

Blue dude with a BR gets last shot from their one base, earns kill, Blue wins.

What borderline catatonic fuckwit thought this scoring system encouraged team-play? You know what encourages team-play? Not nullifying the efforts of an entire team with garbage random BS!

Yup! Clearly blood.

Did they stealth added this or something?
So I claimed there was hardly any blood the first time I played, but having played some more now, I think I get it. Halo 5 seems to actually take caliber and armor into account. IE shooting an elite in an armored spot with small arms produces nothing, while shooting exposed flesh, soft suit areas will stain the walls and ground. Sorry Frankie, you were right.

Breakout is great imo. Really tense and precise, but I do hope they take out the invisibility power.

Also, please stop matching me up against far higher ranked people when the rest of my team isn't even ranked yet! Saw a guy try and kill someone across the map with an AR....

Just thought Id mention here that I have started to make a habit of assassinating the warden when he has about 1/3 of his health left still. ;)

Increasing rank being tied to just winning is fucking retarded. I go 21-14 on SWAT lose because my 3 teammates quit 60 seconds in and I drop from platinum 2 to 1. Fuck that. So fucking stupid.

That still doesn't guarantee it though. It's almost pot luck whoever gets that last shot.

Side note, having lots of connection issues today, plus my stats won't show :(

Thought I would hop over to Team Arena for a bit, and got Slayer on Empire.... which isn't in the Team Slayer playlist.

How the hell does this make any sense at all?

Wow, this is some shit right here. What the hell.

How much rank do you lose for quitting vs. losing?

These quitters are so damn annoying. 60% of my Arena games are uneven.

Only thing I can think of is people are quitting to lose less rank then losing.

It needs work badly.
