I am dying over here. You sir, are a comedic genius.

/salute

I fail to see what is so funny. People tend to exaggerate so much. Nobody uses the word broken correctly. Just because it has bugs doesn't mean it is broken and unplayable. On the other hand some other companies games which are buggy as well get a free pass. I encountered far more bugs in the Witcher 3 than Skyrim.

What makes you believe that? Which was the last broken PC version Bethesda made?

Skyrim works like shit and its a fucking bugfest that can decide to broken the whole game at random becuase it did some stupid variable wrong, same with the CTD. And I have a new computer with a 970 that moves the witcher 3 perfectly at super high settings.
But its not about the game having or not 60fps (because I dont think my skyrim goes below that), its all the other problems the game has.

Why it wasnt shouted through the seven seas at the time like games in our days are after what happened with Watchdogs. Basically because the game was released on at a time before the watchdogs debacle existed. And because it seems, at least with their older games (lets see what happens with FO4, and who knows, maybe is a much less buggy game), that bethesda always has a pass with bugs, becuase its normal with them.
But of course, Skyrim on PS3 was even more broken, so its not about a parity thing here, just that bethesda does buggy games in general. Im pretty sure they made the PC version inhouse, if that is what some people are wondering.

There were bugs breaking some unimportant missions in the Witcher 3, not bugs that broke the whole game like Skyrim, or fucked up npcs, or animations, or missions, or dissapearing scenery, or multiple CTD at random just because, or infinite loading...
TW3 was super polished for a world so big, please, do not lie about the bugs. Its not opinions, there are fucking lists of the bugs everygame has, and the two are incomparable with each other.
And im playing with the unofficial patch that fixes lots of bugs Bethesda decided to leave when they finished updating.
CDPR is still fixing all the bugs people are encountering, even when they work with dlcs at the same time.

It's really bad. Once you answered, all other options are gone and you move to the next question/answer.

Really disappointing step back in the dialogue system.

Only if you're in Japan or NZ.

It's on the 9th, don't have the exact time in my head right now.

How is this even posible. Boggles my mind.

They're expecting bad reviews because of dialogue, simple as that.

Witcher and MGS opened up reviews early af because they knew it would help launch their game since it was bulletproof on the review front. AC Unity and Fallout... haven't.

Also the release date is the 9th at 5AM PST, which is when the game unlocks in New Zealand more or less

I am sorry but I don't consider a broken mission okey because the mission is unimportant as you say. If Skyrim was broken then so was the Witcher 3. But this debate has nothing to do with the thread so I wouldn't want to continue it.

I'm commenting on those PC shots and all i can say is...this looks very similar to what the footage showed and i don't know...were people here complaining during E3 too? I thought that looked good enough, and let's not forget you are dealing with streams here. Of course it won't magically add shadows and more detail, but neither did we see that in the footage, certainly not in the interiors.

I'm not gonna lie, when they put the reveal trailer online before E3 this year i was shocked too. I had expected a bigger leap in graphics, but then E3 started and i thought it looked pretty nice. It's either the streams, the quality of it...or the game is highly inconsistent with the graphics where in some places it will look really nice and in others not so much.

To be honest, the only thing i am slightly bummed out about is the map. Too much uncertainty about that.

This is bollocks. Skyrim NDA was the day before release - the same time as Fallout 4 - and Skyrim still has one of the best Metacritic scores of all time and shipped 30m units.

As an unemployed bum the days usually seem to go really really fast. Like six months just passes me by and shit and I feel like I have nothing to show for it. Then comes fallout 4 and time just halts to a crawl. The five days before unlocking the game on steam is gonna feel like three weeks. Einstein was right.

Haha, expecting bad reviews? Breh.

All Bethesda games are embargoed like this.

It is Bethesda, so this means the game should be first played around june 2016, when all the necessary patches are out...

I don't worry, will play Xenoblade X until then.

Oh I also made a SPECIAL Calculator that helps you plan your character. It shows the available perks and derived statistics based on your SPECIAL choices. You can also save or share your build with a simple link. More features are planned for the calculator. Also works best on a none mobile device. Mouse over perk names for details.

Thanks for this, everything I wanted on one clean page. I do have a suggestion, hovering over the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. words at the top of each column should give you a details of what they do.

I've decided on:

S - 4
P - 5
E - 2
C - 6
I - 6
A - 3
L - 2

I basically went with being able to grab perks that add new things for me to do in the game as early as possible rather than just making me "better". Hopefully that low endurance doesn't end up being my downfall lol. I may switch things around before release, I really like some of those endurance perks...is it the 10th yet?

I guess it'll be the 10th at the earliest for console comparisons from DF if reviews are embargo'd until then, correct? Got some Xbox credit expiring on the 17th and want the most equal multiplat game compared to PS4 on it. COD will be 900p vs 1080p on PS4 and earlier maps, Battlefront 720p vs 900p, and not interested in Tomb Raider.

The reviews surely will be interesting. It all depends on what things have been improved in the game and there will surely be some reviews that will talk about the graphics, animations etc..and compare it to today's games and maybe take that into account for the overall rating too.

We'll see. But no review will stop me from enjoying it.

I'm assuming that you can only unlock perks up to the level of your s.p.e.c.i.a.l.
Does this mean if you have the "Night Person" perk (+2-3 to Intelligence and Perception between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.) you'll be able to unlock extra perks?

If you are on anything but mobile it should load a description and image to the right when you mouse over the special words. I took that off for small screens as it was too much info to display nicely.

Lmao Bad Reviews. Bethesda game.ok ok

Between F4, CoD and BF, F4 will be the one with the smallest difference. It's 1080p30 on both, so the only unknown now is framerate and slight graphical differences.

Anyone ordered from Base.com know when they're going to ship them. They usually ship on thursdays for tuesday releases but nothing changing on my order yet.

Like give them some fucking credit. The comparisons to Batman are pretty unwarranted. This is literally Bethesda, who've delivered 4 PC focused AAA games in a row without a major technical hitch, and many people would call them the best single player developer in gaming.

At the end of the day, yes the graphics aren't Witcher 3, yes the dialogue system is some mutant frankenstein that makes the Bioware dialogue wheel look fleshed out. But yes the settlement system is pretty much nerd viagra, yes the sound design looks phenomenal, no the number of cubic centimetres in the world map doesn't particularly matter that much in the scheme of things.

Despite all your various concerns, this is going to be a solid game, enough with the pointless nitpicking. Comparing it to actual literal BATMAN of all things.

I'd say they have a pretry solid pedigree when it comes to PC gaming.

Daggerfall console port was shit

I see, that's good to hear then.
Yeah, the streamer is kinda.. weird, apparently.

Seems like early players are always weird.

Either that, or it's just the old adage that few things are more infuriating than watching other people play RPGs "wrong" (where wrong is not playing how you would).

It doesn't, to be clear I mean the words Strength, Perception, Endurance, etc, not the perks. I'm using Chrome on my Win 10 desktop PC.

Seems like the perfect starting setup for my playstyle, gets me early in the door for advanced weapon mods and allows me to sneak/hack past difficult encounters.

Strength 4
Perception 3
Endurance 3
Charisma 3
Intelligence 6
Agility 6
Luck 3

Updated a ton of stuff on my Fallout site tonight. In terms of spoilers I don't have any quest story line stuff up yet.

This character creator, so good. It's fast to use, no scrolling back and forth required and everything relevant [SPECIAL + Perks] are on single page. TL:DR; Good CC with relevant information available with mouse overs. Great job!

Anyone have an answer for this?

Will the "Night Person" perk (+2-3 to Intelligence and Perception between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.) mean ill be able to access and unlock extra perks?

Probably not since their not permanent upgrades. That's how it has worked in previous games at least.

Rise and shine guys. I see a few bad apples came our way but thanks for keeping it positive :)

Keep the hype train going.

5 days!

Nope it only gives a temporary stat increase. But it would help you pass something that had an intelligence check.

Weird. I can't think of why... maybe something Windows 10 related? Will look into it either way.
Ah, I see what you mean, I had my browser snapped to half of my screen so it didn't show up, maximizing my browser made it show up. Not exactly what I was suggesting...actually better :P

Well, everything is great then, thanks again :)

Great character editor!

There are some really tough choices ahead due to the decreased number of S.P.E.C.I.A.L points to distribute. Even if you want to build a balanced character, I found that one primary stat has to be sacrificed (and gained back through perk choices). That statistic is LCK imo, because while "Better Criticals" is presumably one of the better perks in the game, the perks below that level seem quite meaningless.

This is my build:
screenshot2015-11-05aequ3g.png

STR 5 (+1 with bobblehead), because carrying capacity and "strong back" are too convenient to pass up
PER 7 (+1), because "sniper" seems awesome and increased VATS accuracy is always a good thing
END 1 (+1), because most END perks seem useless. It would possibly be worth it to go END 2 to get intrinsic health regen with "life giver", so maybe use one perk choice to boost END down the line
CHA 5 (+1), because no "local leader" seems to lock you out of some high level gear. May be less useful for people who don't intend to build bases, but you still want at least CHA 3 for the "attack dog" perk imo.
INT 5 (+1), because no high tech mods without "SCIENCE!". Below that perk, "gun nut" and "hacker" seem pretty much essential as well.
AGI 4 (+1), because action boy seems pretty essential for VATS play. Maybe start to increase further with perk choices late game, but the perks only fit some specialized playing styles imo. "Ninja" is cool if you are stealth warrior, "blitz" seems essential for melee specialists. "Gun fu" seems generally useful, but it does not seem worth it early in the game.
LCK 1 (+1), because the early perks are so awful. Will be raised to LCK 5 at least to get "better criticals", but that can be done later in the game imo. The other high level perks sound really fun as well

The big unknown with these choices is stat requirements in conversations. It may be important to go even higher with INT or CHA to get maximum rewards in some quests, but we don't know much about that. I think I will pick the "Man Eater" perk early to offset my balanced stat distribution in conversations.

Guys, what if we have gone about this all wrong?

What if this isn't Fallout 4 at all?

What if it is

Skyrim with guns?

:D

So there isn't a separate category for laser/energy weapons anymore, right? If I take perks that aid pistols, and have a pistol that does energy or radiation damage, I could benefit from the low level AGI perk and the high level INT one at the same time?

Seems to be that way. The only thing I could find that interacts with energy weapons is the Tesla Science Magazine which gives +5% critical for energy weapons. Other than that there is nothing specific to energy weapons, so I imagine a pistol perk aids energy pistols.
