Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

This game is starting to frustrate me because of how inconsistent I'm playing. In all of the other halo, I was pretty good and very rarely went negative, and if I went negative, it wasn't by a lot. In this game though I either go really positive or really negative... And it's really starting to get to me mentally and makes me do even worse.
More or less exactly like me as well, however i have a feeling it's multiple issues at work causing this.
 
I think because outside melee, this OV takes a lot of shots to take out, so a player could last like a minute with an OV.
Yeah, I've noticed that when I picked it up. Also you can pretty much sprint through the whole map looking for people without a care in the world.

I now just try to get the Overshield everytime I can, just to deny the enemy it.

I'm just now starting to get into the groove of the game. Last night, I felt like I started to get command of my pistol and BR like I had in all previous Halos. I finally started to get that old feeling of "you didn't 4/5 shot him? you're horrible at this." It was a good feeling.

Happened to me. My aiming is super inconstant at times. Some times I feel totally in control and do really well, other times I'm just flailing about and feel like I've never played before. I'm hoping if its something to do with the aiming sens curves people have been complaining about, that they get a patch out soon for it.
 
But the breakout maps are forge maps right?

They still had to spend time on the layout and design for them...


Also getting pretty sick of the spawns in this game. I've gotten my share of spawn kills because of this, but it's so frustrating getting destroyed because you spawned next to an enemy. Especially on SWAT.

The worst was when I spawned right in front of someone sprinting and they immediately spartan charged me :(

It probably wouldn't have seemed so bad if they hadn't inflated the numbers before launch. I still would have been disappointed but thinking were were going to have more really pours salt on the wound.

Yup. Counting Forge maps towards the total map count is just stupid. But hey, the MP portion of the game is fully released in June 2016, when all the DLC has released. Including modes that should have been there from the beginning, but aren't for ununderstandable reasons. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯


That's pretty laughable. I'd say that's the definition of false advertising.

My problem with the maps, besides the low numbers, is that it seems to me that they spent most of their design time on Breakout maps and were fine having all the arena maps be garbage.

Those are Forge maps, too.

I still feel like Breakout should have been released together with Forge. They could have used that time to make at least 2 more Arena maps and the 1 missing Arcadia esque Warzone map. Instead they gave us Pegasus and Orion...

Every dev made Forge just plays terrible. See: Foundry, Sandbox, The Cage, Uncaged, Pinnacle, Paradiso, Hemorrhage, Erosion/Ascent, Impact/Relay, Ravine/Settler and now Orion and Pegasus.

Have I forgotten anything? All these maps seem like low effort maps and community cartographers always came up with better maps. I don't know if the devs go in low effort mode when they do Forge maps, because they just play terrible compared to real maps. It's like they don't think about map flow and other important things.

A good friend, Gazzawa (he is in Australia), us forced to sell H5 because he is unable due to high latency to play with anyone.

Petty sad.

Wow, it's #RIPHalo all over again for him.

When it happens to me I just take it that Im not playing as well, and because Im not getting Kills, Im rushing more to my death, So, Im trying to play more calmly, aside from that, I think the quality of players playing is better than past Halo (Im in Diamond for TS and Platinum for Arena, So I assume those players are as good or better than me).

OV, Is definitely very strong in this game, maybe move it to a 3 minute timer.

i get that map variety is nice and more of a good thing is great, but i dont see a lack of a huge number of maps as nearly as bad as most of you seem to. one of the reasons halo is soooo good is because its gameplay systems lend to constantly evolving matches. virtually ever match on a halo map plays different from each other, despite the initial rush for power weapons/items/locations. its this reason that i could play the best halo maps forever and never tire of them. of course you could definitely make the argument that few, if any, of the halo 5 maps reach this status. IMO most halo maps fit into this, halo 5's included.

but not orion. that map sucks.
 
Anyone having Post-Match "Cannot Retrieve Data"?

I really wanna see the Carnage Report for every match and where I am in regards to Commendations and REQ...but the game always breaks at that point.

Yeah momentum is so important in Halo. That's why a social playlist is nice to relax or warm up.

Doubtful. It's either deal with it, or ditch what should be the best halo experience by a country mile for something else..

How could TTK be the same when AR is that much OP ? It's the most powerful AR to date and when two people praying at you , you are dead immediately even as fast as Cod ..

Don't hate me but Reach DMR is the most balanced DMR imo. Halo 4 DMR is OP which ı think everybody agree with me , Halo 5 DMR is not as good as Halo 4 DMR in close range but longe in longer ranges , it's OP because it has no bloom. In Reach , you can't spam the DMR in long ranges.In 5 , every open area turns into sit back and camp with DMR situation like Halo 4. This is not Halo..Kills and deaths feel cheap.

Maps are small and chaotic with infinite sprint.Useless radar makes it more chaotic.. You are always in a situation to get kill or get killed by someone. Gameplay is ultra fast.

I love Halo and i want it to be the most successfull game , it's my favorite FPS game by far but this game doesn't feel like Halo..I hope MCC holds it's community and ı hope people also play Reach when it launches with BC..

The TTK is the same because mobility adds to survivability...

The boost is stregnth and range to the AR is no doubt to counterbalance the thrust and sprint abilities.

Truly baffled that you think this game doesn't feel "like halo" but think Reach does... I have to keep reminding myself that Halo is different things to different people.
 
In reading a lot of this thread over the past few days, it basically seems that the vast majority of people don't like Halo 5 because of a variety of issues, all of which basically ends up being "it's different than a previous Halo I loved". If you want the same exact Halo you played before, why don't you go back to that one?

I'd actually argue some of the differences and changes are the issue.

Things that could improve it.


  • Completely re-work the entire spawn system (make it less unfair, chaotic and unbalanced)
  • Reduce the nade count
  • Extend the time it takes for power weapons to spawn
  • Re-balance a few of the weapons, eg give the AR a tiny bit more range, or increase the weapon switch speed so you can get the pistol out quicker
  • If someone drops out, replace that person, and give the person who comes in late full match bonuses, and make it so a loss does not negatively affect their rank
  • Add non party options for game modes (going solo against parties can be frustrating)
  • Improve the aiming acceleration
  • Reduce the aiming deadzone (though I fear this may be a controller issue, as other shooters also have this issue on the XO)
  • Improve some of the map layouts to be more balanced (eg Warzone Assault for attackers)
  • Increase back dash distance so you can better avoid shoulder barge and covenant sword
  • Re-work bosses in Warzone so kills cannot be stolen in the last second
Personally I don't like the REQ system at all, and would do away with it altogether for a more traditional unlock system, with only cosmetic microtransaction purchases, but I know that will never happen.

*Nope on that please, AR is already a bit powerful as a close range weapon need to have pretty much a perfect pistol kill to out damage it.
*Something like that beta would be nice, but im not really that bothered with how it is right now.
*Agreed feels bad when enemy camper jumps in with power weapon to steal the kill, divide points with damaged dealt by team would be more fair.

Lol I do the same thing.. I was also naive enough to believe what Josh wrote on slaent. (they consider 100ms ping to be the max). Even though 100ms is too much. We've been had again.

  • Extend the time it takes for power weapons to spawn **2 minutes is already pretty lengthy
  • Re-balance a few of the weapons, eg give the AR a tiny bit more range, and/or increase the weapon switch speed **Give the AR more range? Wat?
  • If someone drops out, replace that person, and give the person who comes in late full match bonuses **No. Arena is only based on wins/losses, I would be furious if I got tossed into a losing match halfway through to eventually lose and de-rank
  • Add non party options for game modes (going solo against parties can be frustrating)
  • Improve the aiming acceleration
  • Reduce the aiming deadzone (though I fear this may be a controller issue, as other shooters also have this issue on the XO)

the spawn system is fine in Team Arena and Slayer. FFA needs work.

Power weapon spawns are fine

AR is powerful enough as it is... Some would say it's too powerful.

JiP is a horrible idea for a ranked mode.

I read through your posts and it's like you actually want Halo to be COD or Battlefield.

I have to say, my opinion of the campaign has improved dramatically since I started replaying it. I didn't realize the levels were so dense with alternate paths and secrets.

I have to say, my opinion of the campaign has improved dramatically since I started replaying it. I didn't realize the levels were so dense with alternate paths and secrets.

Still pondering whether to do a easy 100% collectible run or a legendary run as a second play through.
My preference right now is doing a legendary run first then a collectible or combine the two :p
