I guess maybe the way I'm planning to play this game is the wrong one.

I will not worry myself about "builds", just do whatever that strikes my fancy at any particular point and work on that, hahaha. I will also not look for any bobbleheads' location and build my character in anticipation that I will find bobblehead if I go here or if I go there... Just gonna do whatever, lol.

Yeah, I can't take these games seriously enough to worry about stats. I play most of these solely for the sake of poking my nose into places it doesn't belong and trying to get into trouble while enjoying the sights. If I manage to get 30 or 40 hours out of it before it gets boring and repetitious, I figure I did good.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying there's a wrong way to play, I'm just agreeing here.

Maybe the guide will give insight as to how many points you want to have minimum in each stat to not hinder yourself in the game. I know I don't care much for the Luck area, but I'm putting in 3 points in case it means getting crit all the time or something.

I was set to ignore LUCK but I love VATS so I don't know how I can.

This is how I like to play these games.

For people who have seen streams/footage, I read some posts earlier saying the dialogue isn't as good as previous games or something? That it's more linear and you have less options/choice? Is this true or no?

Having a voiced character and cutscenes is a little interesting. I wouldn't say the dialogue is horrible but it's somewhat bland. It's vanilla. The male voice seems a little dull and I haven't seen a female voice stream but yeah, that's my take.

Not enough of us have the game for you to get an honest answer. Most of the people here are going to tell you that the dialogue is perfectly fine because there can be nothing wrong with this game, while some others feel let down from a small sample of footage they've seen.

Just gonna have to wait and see I guess.

But can you imagine the complains of the folks who just want to play as busty, blemish-free supermodels?

They will have to pay for surgical treatment, just like jet addicts have to pay for rehab. Post-apocalyptic facial surgery will lead to +5 DR and -1 CHA btw ...

Anyone figured out if the wait/pass time thing that was in fallout 3 and skyrim is in here? I'm pressing every button and can't find it.

That scars+bruises pic looks fantastic. Was expecting it to be even more graphic from the responses here, though.

Want to see that on a female character now. Not sure if it'd look bad ass or disturbing.

Is there going to be a "show you soul survivor" thread?

That pic of the main character with the jacked up face got me pumped and curious on what everyone else's main character would look like.

Eh. Id argue most people will tell you that the dialog wheel sucks because this game is an abomination, while some others will tell you we haven't seen enough. But I agree with the wait and see approach.

no its not, it limits the dialogue and practically every rpg has a voiced protag so I don't see how its interesting.

It worked fine in DA:I.

I loved DA:Origins but it always seemed strange when your character was silent and every single other person had a voice.

There's always going to be a trade off, but I think DA/Mass Effect showed you can still have great strong rpg elements with voiced protags vs games that have silent ones.

This stream is pretty good right now. He's finally just running around fighting random stuff.

He went idle for a few and got attacked by a legendary enemy because he didn't pause the game. Was pretty hilarious.

I hope so.
That PC streamer's character is such a genius one. I wanna see more.

I kinda feel bad for Bethesda. They withheld much about Fallout 4 only to be leaked by streamers and reviewers who couldn't give a shit about the embargo/NDA. Is it even possible to release a game and have some surprises left nowadays? Datamining is another hit against anything hidden. Of course people will tell me you don't have to read, but come on, this is getting ridiculous. I haven't played Fallout 4 yet and it seems like I know way too much about it already. I hate digital-only games, but having discs exposes you to early leaks and spoilers. Complete games have been streamed online before release. This is out of hand.

Eh, most people won't ever see any of the leaked streams. Sure it ruins the experience for some, but it's mostly avoidable.

Personally I have a weakness in the days running up to the release of a game im looking forward to, where I tirelessly search out streams to keep me from going insane.

It has become rather annoying. What can be done though?

At midnight Tues morning when this unlocks, I fully expect I'll end up in the character creator for an hour. It always happens. I even spent like 45 minutes on it in Bloodborne.

I do the same thing and every time I hate my character after im just too far in to want to go back and make a new one.

Just plan now instead. All per level perks are known. Available S.P.E.C.I.A.L points are known, including +1 for each stat via bobbleheads. Just use this and decide what character you want. Come tuesday morning, you can be actually playing the game instead of hanging out in character generation!

Good news on the Red Box front! Just got back from the one near me just after midnight and COD Black Ops 3 was already in there. So there's a good chance I'll be able to pick up Fallout 4 at midnight and not have to wait for mine to be delivered. YMMV.

Ending spoilers have been leaked in the steam discussions forum.
Beware.

You are a saint for braving that battlefield. Or at least passing on the info. Thanks for that.

I feel like I always do that and end up with a monstrosities of a character regardless and then randomize and tweak a bit.

Talking about appearance, especially face.

I do feel really sorry for them, especially with plot spoilers. That being said, I still have to hypocritically admit that it's nice to see the game in action, as we'd seen so little previously. I'm still quite iffy on the new dialogue system, but the gunplay looks great. I'm still not sure if I'll buy it Day 1 or not, though. Eh, I'll probably cave.

Whatever you know or don't know is pretty much entirely your own fault.

Anyone who ordered the pip boy from Best Buy have it shipped yet?

Does best buy usually ship pre orders before release day like Amazon and others or do they wait and ship it on release day?

Thursday they started charging people and changing the order status to preparing for shipment. I'd guess they will actually start going out today.
