Congrats! You got a team you are playing with?

I'm starting to get depressed with the amount of time I spend trying to find good teammates to play with. Most people already have their cliques and I wish I could find a group that has as much time as I do at the moment. I'm afraid of playing alone and getting terrible rankings K/D because it seems like people stat whore and won't play with you if your stats are bad even though it could be due to not having a team to play with or just teammates who aren't as serious or dedicated as you. :[
 
how early are we expecting new war zone maps. The snow 1 is terrible. The other 2 are good. 1 more map would be appreciated not like 3 or anything

Have you joined the HaloGAF discord group? It's really helpful for finding teams. I'm always up for teaming up if you send an invite; GT is same as username.

So many missed opportunities! A team of 12 trying to fighting off massive hordes of progressively stronger covenant and Promethean enemies...shit would get too real when bosses started storming the bases...

I bet people would be throwing money at req packs! It would be pure mayhem!

The entire Arena mode puts me on edge - an anxiety feeling. Its go hard or go home. This game is not for the weak. I have casual Halo friends who I have been playing the series with for over a decade and this game (Arena at least) is just way too much for them to handle. Competitive as hell. The lack of aim assist and the need for razor sharp instincts/reaction are the culprits I think.

When you get going - you REALLY go though. That zen-like multiplayer flow that only a handful of mp shooters have had over the years. Ive racked up 2 killing frenzies on The Rig of all maps - no room to operate just 100% madness for the entire match trying to survive.
 
I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a PvE Warzone coming eventually, so I don't know if I'd call it a "missed opportunity" yet. Let's be hopeful.

No I haven't joined the discord group. Was hoping Spartan companies/friends list would be all that was needed. I can try that I guess.

Now THIS would be interesting.

Not interested in Warzone because of RNG+PVP, and not interested in Arena because it doesn't seem friendly for solo play, and when people quit, which they do, it ruins the match. Both modes are awesome besides.

So its just campaign for me for now, which makes me wish there was at least some scoring or customization elements to it. But a Warzone PvE could also be amazing if done right.

I call it a missed opportunity because of the general lack of content at launch.

In a crowded holiday season, this game could have used something like this to fight the inevitable migration.

They COULD add it, but it could be too late... And considering we still don't have odd ball, Assault, KoTH etc I can't help but call every missing mode a missed opportunity.

I've been trying to be hopeful, but when the multiplayer update I've been anticipating ended up being the revelation that 343i finally made the existing playlists how they should have been at launch, and added a temporary slayer variant, it's getting tough to remain hopeful.

Luckily I don't even get to play enough to get bored with the current offerings. But I know many people are.
 
If you win a few arena matches in a row the game rewards you stacked teams to attempt to balance it out, it's stupid.

This is not how ranking and matchmaking should work, you should be climbing ranks until naturally you get matches of skill where you win and lose fairly, what halo 5 tries to do is throw you against uneven teams to try and give you a loss which is not how it should be at all.

Isn't that feeling just because you're used to having the ranked/social split? But this is a new game, a new generation. It's now Warzone and the REQ system and Arena which is equal starts and ranks.

I get what you're saying, but what I'm saying is, as we move forward, the mindset should be you play Arena to win AND to play casually. Just play it. Don't be afraid that you rank and go down or that other teammates are playing bad. I mean if every playlist is ranked, are you just going to stop playing Halo because you don't want a metallic badge next to the playlist?

We use the chat feature. Basically someone will write "looking for 2 for arena" or whatever and people who are on say, "inv me!" and then post their GT

It's worked out really well every time I've used it, very easy way to get full Arena teams or even full/mostly full fireteams for Warzone.

The problem is that I DO want to play to win and people stat whore. If I have bad stats because I am playing casually better players are going to stay away from me. It's already happening. I feel like I can't just go play arena solo because of this.

I get what you're saying, but some of the guys I play with aren't that great and they won't play with me because they are afraid we will lose and it will hurt my rank. I tell them it's not that big of a deal, but they still feel bad. A social playlist would fix this issue.

343i seems to have fixed the issue that prevented players from around to world to joining Warzone matches!

Here's what they said:

We have pushed out an update that we believe should improve Warzone matchmaking in the listed regions. If you had been previously unable to consistently find Warzone matches, please enter matchmaking and let us now if the issue is resolved.

All I ask of teammates is that they are at least competitive. If you're constantly going say, 5-12-15 and communicating with callouts and what now I'm much more forgiving of that than say teammates going 5-4-15 and not talking at all. However, if you go like, 2-8-19 3,4 games in a row, that is where you will catch my ire.

I moan a lot but yes this game is really good, I bough it for MP and enjoy it mostly, warzone needs tweaks but that mode is a great relax and to mess about with vehicles in.

That's exactly how I play it. I like breakout too. But warzone is my go to. I need I check out team arena too though.
 
Not that I want to get into a discussion on spawns again, but here is a variant on that theme. (even the sky is not a safe place). Luckily I always assume I'm in danger and just hold down the trigger when I spawn regardless of game.

I think I'm about to switch back to Bumper Jumper. I hate losing the quick scope, but the ground pound is so much easier. I originally went the other way because I figured I would be scoping more often than using ground pound, but I like it not for its offensive benefit but for another movement option.

I hope to have get in a huge group to play Warzone in at some point. I've had a few matches were there are some people actually talking and working together and it is so much more fun (and more effective).

.....no? Who said anything about "going to stop playing Halo"?

New game/generation is irrelevant, so I'm not sure why you brought that up. I'm not going to engage in a lengthy debate over the merits of ranking, only to point out that after enough outcry it was brought back to Halo. That should tell you something about the allure of rank and the purpose it serves in this game. For reasons I've already touched on, playing ranked arena is not always my preferred Halo experience. Warzone is not the answer, in any way shape or form. I'll settle for big team, because I don't find it competitive in nearly the same way I do 4v4, and thus don't care if it is ranked or not. That said, I still believe social 4v4 (or 5v5, whatever) has a place in every Halo game.

This is the way that it should be. I always tell any group that I join that If I can't keep up then feel free to kick me if you want. I will have no hard feelings at all. I'm trying to get better but I don't want to be a thorn in the teams foot if they don't want to deal with it.

I never look at stats when people want to join me either. If they can't keep up when I'm trying to be serious or if they are just goofing around then I just won't play with them until they sober up. Unless I'm also just playing around. I like to help others get better though so I'm pretty lenient.
 
Halo 5 really needs to take some cues from MCC. I should be able to see what maps are in each playlist and the game types they support in game. There should be campaign scoring and campaign time, with leaderboards for each. There should be leaderboards for MM in general. It's the little thing that matter and Halo 5 doesn't have them.
 
When the highlight of your REQ pack is a DMR for Warzone and not the fucking Ultra Rare Wetwork helmet, there's something wrong with you.

Either you'll continue with it, because you don't want to miss out playing team snipers, team doubles, grifball or you'll leave Halo behind and move to another shooter.

It's not a bad thing if you want to screw around, or that you got silver and not diamond.

Edit: Maybe I'll be wrong and 343 would rather bring social back. I just think having social variants of the ranked arena playlists would just kill the investment they've done.

You ignored my other points about premade parties going in against solo and people quitting all the time. Overall, social will be a great playlist for the people that don't care about going pro (majority) and the ones that just want to play Halo. Bungie managed to have a pro scene and still keep everyone happy to a degree.
