Oh my God that was the worst James Bond movie I've ever seen. Terrible action, nonsensical plot, pacing like an ant pushing a brick through a desert. Just awful.

Didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Lot of stuff felt like it was just going through the motions and one mid action bit, the part
with the plane
, could have been out of the later crappy Pierce Bronson flicks.

It's still a gorgeous movie in a lot of areas (such as when the
pair are waiting after the train fight)
and there was one or two decent action scenes.

I feel like I could sense Craig's fatigue. As a friend said to me after, he just didn't have that spark in him.

For me it's Casino, Skyfall, QOS and then Spectre.

I just watched Quantum again today to see if my hate was warranted....nah man. It's actually pretty decent. Even the much touted "quick cut action mess" is not so noticeable.

It's some nice closure to Bond's vesper arc and the opening was actually quite elegant. The way it slowly showed us glimpses of a car chase as it zoomed in on that ocean-side road and then threw us right in it, fuck that was very slick. Plus it continues Bond's cold detached Bourne-esque demeanor when he takes people out. He's ruthless in here when he goes for the kill, whereas in Skyfall he didn't seem so dangerous anymore to me. Like he was still racking up bodies but it just seemed like there was a lot less punch to it. And his movement and just the way he carries out his actions seem more efficient in this and casino royale than in skyfall. Plus these first two movies (probably due to Paul Haggis' output?) have Bond girls with some actual depth to them.

Gonna watch Skyfall tomorrow and see how I rank all 3 now that they're fresh in my mind. And then Spectre in a couple days.

so far it's obviously casino royale > quantum. though the latter is where Bond started to look fucking fresh outside of just the suits thanks to Tom Ford's valuable input. Plus it's shot much more beautifully too. Casino Royale looks a lot..blander in comparison.

Oh and I gotta say this basura Sam Smith song really makes another way to die's hate really over-exaggerated. That's a far better track.

Anyways regardless of what I think of the new film I don't think Craig is the problem. He's shown with these first two that he can balance suaveness with ice-cold blood in his veins. Better than any other imo.

How do these movies cost so effing much money? QoS, Skyfall, and Spectre all cost upwards of $200 mil, how?

I mean, yeah, Craig and Mendes get phat money, and the long production schedules ain't cheap. But I still don't get it exactly. Can somebody shed and light on this?

Saw it earlier tonight, enjoyed it a lot.

Movie looked beautiful, and I just liked the feel of it. Also the jokes here and there were pretty amusing, got a lot of laughs from my theater. Action was nice too.

Although some of the cons:
Ending was pretty anticlimactic. I mean shooting the helicopter with the pistol? Also Swan was pretty rad but whoa that relationship moved a bit fast, especially with that I love you line.

They travel the world and chose locations that aren't cheap at all. Here in Rome they payed a lot of money and on top of that cleaned the streets and restructured some walls, they even offered food to the homeless people.

yeah, that was really formulaic and boring. kinda disappointed.
first shot of the film, easily the best thing about the entire movie.

I liked it a lot while hating Quantum of Solace. The Silva stuff doesn't make any sense but I just treated it like I treated the Zelda timeline. The creators say it really is a thing, it obviously isn't, and I just enjoy the individual entries on their own anyways.

Just got back... And I fell asleep, no joke. First action movie that ever put me to sleep. I'll watch it again in Netflix...

Just got a PM from Solo; he hates Spectre so much that he removing his James Bond tattoos with laser treatment.

He won't be back.

Solo is rocking in a chair holding himself and watching James Bond Jr reruns.

And you're a duck, who's gonna believe you?

Movie was average. Enjoyed it but won't watch again. That first longshot though.

Also that Léa Seydoux. Just might be my perfect woman.

DAMN

I feel like some people here are just realising what these bond movies are. They are cheesy, long, and essentially commercials for watches, cars, and apparel. Skyfall was exactly like this. Casino Royale was the exception, not the rule.

This movie is too disappointing. The shootouts were cheap and short. The car chase didn't look like a chase but more of a race. The plot is nonsensical especially how they tried to
link the past movies with each other
. The intro.. fuck the intro!

Wow. This was bad. Like terribad. Almost fell asleep towards the middle of the movie. Granted, I had a VERY long day but I don't recall the last time I was that bored in a theatre. Hope this is Craig's last Bond movie.

I'd like to expand on my previous impressions.

The main song definetely grew on me with time. I find it to be very appropriate given
the romantic tone of the relationship between Bond and Swann
.

On the other hand, the movie feels like it's been patched together. Many times characters appear from nowhere
like Bond on the airplane or Batista on the train
.

To be honest I'm baffled to read that many people here didn't like it. It's a movie that knows what it is and doesn't try to look smarter, like SF did. I think it would have benefited from a different direction; I really think that Mendes is not the man for this job. But ultimately this may be one of the most human take on Bond. I think people expected it to be a rollercoaster, like MI or Bourne, while this is more of a journey, but Bond movies have always been like that.

So disapointing and so much wasted potencial. :( I mean, yeah it's an ok action movie I guess, but coming from Casino Royale and Skyfall feels like all the positive things those films brought to the table were wasted in this. The return to the tired 007 formula was baffling to me :(

It was all so soulless and heartless, like everyone looked so bored on almost every scene, especially Daniel and Christophe.

Daniel Craig looked renewed with energy and fresh to me, especially compared to the dry Skyfall.

Guys, should we make an official OT for all things James Bond? We still don't have one.

Thought it was worse than Quantum too. Slight let down after the stella CR and Skyfall. Felt uninspired and too contemporary (those tight suits, eww). I bet this one will age badly, like one of thos 70s bell-bottom bonds.

Still enjoyable to some degree though.

I've come to the conclusion that I just dislike James Bond movies. Nothing about this was interesting in any way. At least it only cost $5 to see. Christoph Waltz's inability to be killed was like the Will Ferrell Austin Powers gag, which was strange to see.

hahahahaha, I knew it - none of the recent bond films are good. royale was decent but still had some issues. not sure if I'll still go see this on tues, was hoping it'd be decent but 2.5 hrs is a lot to waste.

I said earlier how awful I thought spectre was, here's why.

The whole film feels like a rehash of an old cheesy bond, minus the charm.

The intro was lame, which ironically was probably one of the best 'action pieces' in the entire film. So much hype built up around this film because we would see spectre and blowfield, bonds apparent ultimate foe, especially with a great actor such as Waltz starring. Unfortunately Waltz is wasted in this role, we barely see him and when we do, he just rambles on with boring monologues and retcons.

Yes this film had more retcons than a MGS game, all for the sake of linking everything together. They gave us Quantum organisation which was clearly a shoe in for Spectre, yet that wasn't good enough so lets just do a film with Spectre.

Batista was hilarious in this film, as soon as they showed him kill that eye with the thumps in the eye and said nothing, I knew he would have no lines in the film, he became a poormans fat oddjob.

Monica was in the film for 5 seconds yet was all the promo etc, felt like a pointless waste of 20 minutes for a film that was already too long, although it was good to see her being sexy I guess. The case chase after the Batista introduction was easily one of the worse car chases in film history; it is bond driving down an alleyway for five minutes before jumping out of the car. This car chase highlights how shit the action in the entire film is, the plane chase was pretty good but ultimately is bond going forward in a plane and crashing it. Which brings up the point why the fuck does he let Oddjob live? He shoots Oddjobs team mate, yet a so called train assassin would have finished the guy who is clearly uncontentious was just trying to kill me.

Girl who gets captured very easily in her office, insists on coming with bond even thought she will more likely get in the way. Insert travelling and being romantic with one another for yet another pointless filler, our young doctor falls for the OAP bond who will be soon swapping his Walther for a zimmer. Enter batistaaaaaaa mother fucker, comically steps in and kicks bond in the back when he could have easily just shot him. So after spectre just trying to kill bond, they send him a fucking taxi after he gets off the train lol.

So here comes the convulsion, Our blowfield guy, blows all, revealing how he killed all the women bond loved. Fact check, vesper killed herself and could have been kept safe if she didn't kill herself. M was killed by the crazy hacker as revenge. Even this wasn't intentionally, she took a stray bullet in the house gun fight. A better case would have been to say bond gets all the people around him killed, but no, lets just insert some awful writing.

So after all the lies, blowfield tells bond he's his brother, and he killed his adopted father LOL. Ok so since bond already knew blowfield was an pseudo and he was that other person with the German name, bond would have know instantly that he used to have a step brother called that, yet he never mentions it or makes no connection, even when blowfield is telling him... Then comes the hiliarious torture device; lets make bond lose his memory by drilling into his check and neck, maybe there is a science to it, but it looked dumb as hell, especially since the last three bonds were more grounded in current times, instead of silly technology such as space lasers (moonraker) etc.

Then there is the secret base in the middle of nowhere, that Waltz decides to blow up and kill everyone and his network because bond escaped.

The traitor was all to obvious and so stupid, almost as stupid as the merger of Mi5 and Mi6 into some new building that looked like shit, even if that were to happen, I doubt they would just bulldozer the old building the next day lol.

then the ending, hide and fucking seek, just for blowfield to talk some more smack and run off, followed by the hand gun shooting down a helicopter from at least 300 to 500 metres away, a handgun is what, accurate up to 50 metres? Plus he was firing into the sky and wind...

the whole film felt lazy, maybe Craig told the producers he's too old and didn't want to do much action, that reminds me, the escape from the secret base, all bond does is pick up a gun off the floor and casually fires it with one arm behind him as he runs off, it is like one of two shoot outs in the film LOL.

I was laughing and shaking my head throughout at how bad it was, QoS was better than this shit.

Forgot to mention the awful song and title sequence to just to add to the shitness, I probably missed something, but there was just so much to choose from.

do you do any film studies? cause you sound just like me lol (I study screenwriting). Hollywood has awful writers and worse action choreographers. the dumb directors shoot action close up with 500 cuts and shots and then douse it with shaky cam and think they have an amazing action setpiece...

How on earth, after over 50 years of him existing as a character, do people still manage to misspell
Blofeld
?
