Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

Gotta mention that the framerate dips frequently as soon as you enter the city - depending on the enemies on screen. What makes this game go into like 15-20 fps, are close combat fights with any gun.
If an enemy gets too close, while firing at him, the framrate tanks really hard. It can be quite jarring and wasn't obvious at the beginning, because you start in a rural area. That's at least my experience so far.
I wonder what causes that? Physics? Level of detail? I have noticed that in other games too when an explosion goes off and there's particle effects close to you. Let's see how many patches the games requires over the next month or two.

No longer hyped after hearing multiple issues regarding performance on PS4 - keeps getting worse and worse. Going to grab Divinity instead for Black Friday and hopefully FO4 is steady by the time I finish it.

I find it a little silly that some people have such knee jerk reactions and are able to be so easily influenced by second hand reports of an unreleased game.

If you read one of the many reports which indicate performance has been great on PS4, will you suddenly rush out and grab two preorders?

Some assholes spoiled the game on the Twitch chat.

Can you tell me if it's the legit ending?
the wife dies and the villain is the protagonist's son

It's hardly game breaking or a reason to avoid Fallout, because the game smashed my other expectations everywhere else so far - but that's something which shouldn't take long to patch. Again I feel like it's an engine issue or anomaly.

VATS-related maybe?

It had a tendency to fuck things up in Fallout 3 and NV.

Maybe the RPG-elements of the combat is affecting performance?

Lefantome; bring that shit to the spoiler thread and please delete your post. You might make someone accidentaly spoil the game.

What do you guys think, can it top Skyrim's Metascore? I just checked and was surprised that it's at 94. I don't care that much for reviews, but it's interesting to see how it will stack up to the other Bethesda RPGs.

No way this will score 95+ unless every outlet agrees to ignore writing, plot, performance, bugs and visual fidelity.

You beat me to it. Posts like that blow my mind.

Holy over reaction. Even went so far as the avatar. Some people, man.

I had to erase what you said but thats what happens when you watch twitch people absolutely love typing endings in the chat or via donations the best thing to do is not even go and watch them, I don't understand how people wanting the game for themselves watch streamers playing it lol

(it's why i stay away from dansgaming chat and the other dude ..big streamers have a plague of that)

but yeah thats like just asking to be spoiled

Looks like I will soon have to abandon this thread....

Please avoid potential spoilers people. (Characters, events, locations, factions)
Dont ask questions about the story or choices.

Just replace the lines you don't want spoken with empty sound files.

Most likely won't be that easy, assuming Bethesda is doing what every other dev is doing now days. Meaning whole game is packed into few files that are several GB's in size, taking stuff out of them is next to impossible.

Doubt it. Mid to high 80s is my guess. I think the new dialog system will turn some people off.

I'm expecting a lot lower scores then Skyrim and maybe even Fallout 3, but I doubt many of the professional reviews will care much about the dialog changes.

That's no problem at all.

Tons of games are like that. Modders unpack the files and pack them again.
I remember modding Half Life, I had to constantly unpack, replace files then repack.

No clue what im going to put points into. Im thinking charisma and luck. I usually neglect intelligence. Am I stupid for doing so?

Im not an rpg player usually but I always jack up my strength in fallout games and never use melee. Im assuming that's pointless correct to do that correct?

Think I'm gonna start off with low strength and build it up as I level so I can increase my carrying weight. Definitely putting the most focus in luck from the start this time around.

A lot of us wouldn't worry if Bethesda didn't had a precedent of treating the sony console like an afterthought, i.e. Skyrim, new vegas

Personally, I agree my hype has been draining these last few days. I really fucking hope this performs ok, if it's unstable I will be really pissed because Bethesda has zero excuses left now.

Hmm true only a 4 in perception is really needed. High luck has some awesome perks, but level 4 and 5 seem sub par. Might have to rethink this, but stuff like endurance does add hitpoints although the perks are very weak. I'd like to get at least 6 in luck eventually, might start it at 5 or so instead.

You can raise a stat each level or choose a perk, right? And are bobble heads in the game that add to special like prior games?

You can raise a special every level. You also get one free from the special book right outside of starting area.

And yup there are bobbleheads that add special and ones that do other effects too.

Well there's no lvl cap in this game. Intelligence helps with exp. so I would recommend putting a couple into it. Just to give you a boost.

But def put some in luck. Seems like it the way to go.

My starting build will be:

S P E C I A L
2 4 2 2 7 6 5

I intend to get all bobbleheads and not waste any points on special stats.

At start I will be able to put points into hack, lockpick, gun nut(craft weapons), science(craft high tech weapons), sneak, rifleman and commando perks.

I will have high enough Int to level up faster and once I get all bubbleheads, I will have access to armorer(craft armors), demolition expert, life giver, lone wonderer(no companions), robotics expert, ninja and better criticals.

It's a pretty good build, where you can play as a sneaky sniper or even mid to close range with most weapons, that can hack, lockpick, craft weapons/armors and carry stuff.

This is not a melee or heavy weapons build and is not good at dialogue checks or building settlements or have companions. Though it can be fixed by putting points into your special stats.

Perks I would have liked is Aqua boy (End 5) and Sniper(Per 8). But it costs too much, maybe will get aqua boy as I will only need 2 more stat increase.

You only need 3 in strength (armor mods) unless you want it higher to either melee (doesn't sound like it) or carry more stuff. For charisma, levels 3 and 4 have interesting perks, although I'd want companions around at least long enough to do their personal quests so I dunno about lone wanderer.

I'm going 4 perception then bobbleheading to 5 for demolitions perk, since I plan to use demolitions a lot, as with my first characters FO3/NV. Minor bobblehead spoiler
someone told me there's a perception bobblehead really early in the game if you look around.

I agree that higher perception seems less good but that's also based on an incomplete understanding of the game's systems.

Yea I haven't even looked at the perks list yet. I really want to but I also don't because of hype. Im fighting myself right now deciding if I should. I might wait till tomorrow:)

I don't think you get enough points to make everything 4's.

If this guide is correct then yeah you can.

100/100/240 seems like a good jumping off point.

Bethesda has always done that with their BSA's. You just need to know what the files are called, and activate archive invalidation. Then whatever you put in will overwrite their archives.

People who have the PS4 version,

Some games seem to cause the consoles fan to get really loud and then go quiet again after a few moments. Does Fallout 4 do the same thing?

Well, one or two reports are enough to prove that at least some people are having problems - whether or not those are the game's or their console's fault doesn't matter. There being many reports on great performance does not, conversely, mean that everyone's copy will run perfectly.

If they were, say, on the edge anyway, or just want to avoid taking risks as much as possible, I think it's understandable that some people want to wait a bit after negative impressions concerning the performance.

The guy said he's posting the OT tomorrow morning after he gets up, and he said the OT title won't be anything posted here including "graphics never change".

I wouldn't expect him to decide to post it early because some people will be able to do shenanigans to unlock early. That's silly.

He did say someone here guessed what he was going to post, not sure if graphic related

My plan is to explore every location and do every quest.Let's see what level I will have gotten to by then. But unlike most of the people here I'm going to max out my SPECIALS first. I don't really care for perks.
