Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Can we get some of the simple looking Halo 3 armor and helmets for Halo 5? I was always rocking the Rogue helmet in Halo 3 and would love to see it for Halo 5. The Halo 4 Rogue helmet was really ugly...

just finished the campaign. i quite enjoyed it overall and i can't wait to see how it resolves in Halo 6. i know they said Cortana is effectively immortal and i hope she is but i want her to return to Master Chief as his partner and not some insanely powerful AI god or whatever she has become.

maybe there will be a clone Cortana to accompany Master Chief as he tries to take down the original. I just played through 1-5 and feel lost now. it's gonna be a long wait for Halo 6 now. Looks like I'll try get into Halo 5 MP and start ODST/Reach and maybe read the books
.

This is not the spoiler thread.

For halo 5 the soundtrack was great and did justice to Martys original themes but I honestly can't think back to a track that was really memorable

It was far better than halo 4's soundtrack but I wouldn't call 5's the best in the series

Odst and believe it or not halo wars are my favourites after halo 1

Just listen to blue team.

To me, you contradict yourself. You think he shouldn't be punished for losing a game? Because he did so well, and his team mates did poorly? That is the opposite of team. Think of any other sport. In football the QB can throw for 5000 yards, but the team can suck and they win 6 games. They don't get to go to the playoffs. They get ranked where the team is ranked. Not where the QB is ranked. That is the same idea here.

Sorry for thinking you shouldn't be punished for not being matched correctly. I've had too many swat games with 20+ kills and a handful of deaths only to end up losing with someone on my team with the opposite kills and deaths. You can only do so much if your teammates don't know what they're doing.

I've died a lot to the AI enemies as well given that I'm usually ignoring the pvp conflicts and trying to kill every miniboss and legendary boss haha

Where the heck can you see your Warzone deaths? Just checking halo waypoint and that stat is missing in action. Can you view it ingame? Can't check atm.

Made some decent progress this weekend. I'm up to the end of Chapter 12 (although to be fair,
a couple of those chapters feature zero combat.
) The back half of this game has been much more enjoyable than the front and I chalk nearly all of that up to the fact that you spend much of it matched against Covenant enemies. Fighting them is so much more fun than fighting Prometheans.

Played one game of Slayer just to check it out and got absolutely murdered. Usually takes me a couple of days to get into a groove in MP and do all right but I'm not sure if I'll have the time to get into this one, especially with Fallout 4 out this week.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I have a question for anyone who's finished Chapter 12 (keeping in mind that this is on Legendary):
Is the Arbiter invincible? Should I be hanging back and letting him deal with everything?

Servers seem to have changed compared to a few days ago, a lot more smooth. Still some off matches, but not all the time at least.

Got some BR variants from the bronze packs, been using the standard one since launch. What the.. the one with zero recoil is plain nasty!

Opened one premium pack for this week, nothing special. Bloodthirst skin for the BR, which looks nice but was a preorder bonus for tons of people. Eh will trade anything for Buck/Fred armor or a whiplash cert.

Got a blaze of glory from a gray random weapon, no idea that was possible.

I agree. People have made good points here about why ranks should be dependent on wins, but at the end of the day a rank should be at least partially based on your performance, I mean it is an individual rank, and your teammates are constantly changing. You can compare it to sports, but sports teams don't swap out your teammates every game with people that may or may not completely suck. Ranking should be about matching you up with people of similar skill level, and team wins has very little to do with that when some people are always playing with teams and some people never are, and then some people are sometimes.

Say you play with a good team 90 percent of the time and end up working your way to Diamond. Then you decide you want to go solo; you're going to do shitty as hell because you're ranked too high for solo play, consequently hurting your random team members. It throws everything off. If you're ranked based (at least partially) on individual performance, this wouldn't happen near as much. Ranking should be about fair matchmaking, instead it's the definition of a boosted rank system, entirely dependent on the people playing with you.

I didn't like it at first, but the more I play it the more it grows on me. Absolutely love the spire and the multiple ways to try to conquer it. I also really like the home bases: I was just playing Spartan assault yesterday, and the vehicle battle that took place on the beach outside the base was a thing of beauty.

I loved it at first but now I'm just getting tired of it. Maybe it's just the frequency I play it and not the actual map I'm sick of.

i dont have a problem ranking up or down based on wins and loses only.

i just think the amount you rank up or down should be performance based.

best player on a team that lost? rank down a little.

worst player on a team that won? only rank up a little.

Well they need to actually have you rank down though. Once you get placed, you can't go lower. Kinda dumb imo. If they implement that alone I think will help with quitters in Arena.

The better rocket launcher is crazy too. Fires three shots in a V pattern. Greater splash damage and can be used for lock on, if using ads.

So what's everyone's take on the Promethean weapons? I pretty much ignore them all except for the light rifle? Am I making a mistake?

Do any of them have special functions when using smart-link? How does their TTKs differ from their UNSC counter parts? Is there any reason I should stop selling Surpressors and Boltshots when I get them?

Do you get alerted when someone spectates on you? I would hate to be playing casually and it turns out someone was watching haha
I'm not sure. I was watching Phil Spencer play last night just to try it out. It didn't say I was asking permission or requesting anything.

Suppressors are good at taking care of Knights and surprise attacks, Boltshots are good at headshots.

They are pretty good imo. they are just as viable as the UNSC equivalents.

Finally finished the campaign on Heroic yesterday. Definitely better than Halo 4 but not as good as it could have been.

Surprisingly, the Blue Team levels might have been my least favorite. Though I wasn't really a fan of the Meridian levels in the first half of the game.

The Sanghelios levels were among the best in the series however. Level design was amazing. Game really shines visually there and in the snow environments. The last level was also a blast to play but I am disappointed that
there was no vehicle chase

As for the story, it was probably the worst in the series. They really need to stop relying so much on outside media to tell their stories. Plus there were so many plot holes and poorly fleshed out plot points.

And the Warden fights? Would probably be my least favorite boss fights of all time if it wasn't for Destiny. But holy shit who thought that was a good idea?

Overall, in terms of gameplay, levels, and encounters, my ranking at the moment goes:

Halo 3>Halo CE>Halo 5>Halo 2>Halo ODST>Halo Reach>Halo 4

Got a rare stance and an Oni Warthog certification from my packs. Got one randomly before, took two hits from a scorpion and could still keep going.

Do agree its bizarre your weapon skins don't transfer to Arena properly. Arena players who don't play Warzone have a lot less loot-wise to be interested in, and even less when the only skins you can use are pistol and AR ones.

Oni Warthog is a beast. I love it when I get a competent gunner especially on Arc.

I too finished the game on heroic yesterday. Honestly, I hate what they did to
cortana. Just completely kills my interest in anything related to her. 343 changed her from one of the best characters in the game outside of the master chief to one of the least memorable.
ah well.
Story was really weak as you and everyone else have mentioned. I didn't like the unbalanced amount of play time with Red Team and I find forerunner weapons to be pretty meh.
I'd rank the campaigns as such CE>4>3>5>ODST>2>Reach

I have just two more levels left for my Legendary solo run. This game has been awesome! I just finished the level where
Osiris jumps from the back of the Guardian.
That's what I'm talking about! Also, I don't find the Warden to be particularly tough enemies. You can cheese them big time using your teammates (
or Arbi)
to draw his fire. I took one down with just a light rifle.

Yeah, The process of the matchmaking is a whole other animal. The only thing I can say is use your mic? idk
