so ill ask this one more time... for anyone the preloaded on PS4 and downloaded all of the 32gbs of the game... did you also download the day one patch or does that not start until you open/start the game for the first time???

Mine downloaded with the patch already installed, wasn't a separate file.

By hitting options then information I can see my version is 1.01

Did the intro parts. I have to admit I kinda got chills when shit just got real.

Textures look worse than I imaged. Everything looks like it's made of plastic or a toy. Oh well, it has a certain style, so whatever.

Intro was a steady 60fps on a GTX970 @1080p with ultra settings. May have to turn some things down when I actually get into combat.

Pretty excited to jump into the world when I get a chance.

I hate this stupid, arbitrary rollout by time zone crap. There's over 10K people playing on Steam now but I have to sit here and twiddle my thumbs.

I could try they New Zealand VPN trick, but that shouldn't have to happen.

Ok so im trying to build something too add to my house and have the materials but it won't let me build anything... What am i missing?

Holy shit. I just had my first radiation storm as soon as I found Dogmeat. Fuck me they are spooky and frighteening.

This game man, this game. Why can't it be weekend

When you highlight something you are able to build (have the materials), you should see a red item come up, if you move your joystick to a spot that you are able to place/build it, it will change from red to green and then you can build it.

Does anyone else who has the game know how to break junk down into the components before crafting, or if that's even possible at all? I hate how all my storage areas are filled with just random junk, would rather have the components so it'd be easier to see when crafting.

Thanks for the help!

Just store everything in your workshops and they'll automatically be broken down for components.

Screwing around with the character build tool.

Oh why, oh why does Fallout always give me such fits and problems creating my character.

Every stat can be very critical in how you play so I keep freaking out about all the stats I have to make lower to fill out my character. All 4's is boring but I can't bring myself to cut any part of the character off.

I always feel like I'm building out my characters weaknesses and not their strengths.

It breaks things down as you craft items, unless you dismantle objects in your base area that were already placed there. There is a "component view" though that switches the names out for the components, which sounds exactly like what you want

- Enemies have infinite ammo and grenades. And grenades. Grenade spam. Oh, hi random guy. You wanna throw grenades? infinite grenades? ok then. Look out. Grenade indicator. Like 2 seconds ago.

This has been a massive issue for me on Very Hard. Many raiders have molotovs, which kill me in one hit (my HP and armor are both decent) and impeccable aim with them.

I thought our hope for next gen was that enemy inventory nuances would become more complex, but here it's still "they have unlimited everything."

How much random junk can you store at your base?

Me: I preordered Fallout 4 (video game) a long time ago. Finally this weekend it was going to ship but my payment was declined. I'm wondering if I still have a chance to fix the payment and get release date delivery or not
Les: Thank you so much for that information and I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. Nothing to worry, I'll be happy to check on this for you and see what I can do to help. Please allow me few moments to check on this for you.
Les: Please bear with me, thank you.
Les: Thank you so much for waiting.
Me: no prob. did you find out anything?
Les: I have a good news for you
I've rerun the payment for you and it went through however please be advised that the delivery date has moved since the payment has been updated.
Me: no wait

EDIT for fairness: Amazon rep came back and bumped to overnight shipping so I'm good with them again yay. (still might order digital just in case?)

Haha the customer just got served.

can people confirm if the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. book is real? And where it's at (in spoilers)? Thanks.

edit: also can someone confirm if you can hide helmets? Either over-all or in conversations?

Oh man that's why I love Fallout so much: I play on survival and I'm level 3 and just outside
the first city
, I stumbled upon a real tough (skull legendary?) enemy. After hitting him with everything I have from stealth and a crit to the head, I noticed that I did like 10% damage before I died. Reloaded and tried to cripple him with a crit to the legs, but that didn't work, so I sprinted away and onto a car wreck. I was able to jump from one side to the other on the car (so he couldn't reach me when he was in front of me), so I abused that I pumped like 40 double barrel shotgun shells into him before he finally died. The location he protected had an armor on a corpse that yields 24 defense and 27 energy defense. I'm level 3 and had armor scraps on me which resulted in 7 armor and 2 energy defense. What an upgrade. lol

Really reminded me about NV, where I used like 200 bottle mines in the Deathclaw pit, way before I should have been able to actually kill any of them.

Quoting again.
That's a good build if you don't want to emphasize anything in particular up front, yes. You get access to a bunch of key perks and can decide where to go from there. Perception would be the outlier based on how you described your playstyle, it seems like you'd need a fair bit more to get the most out of it.

Any word yet on safe containers? Are the pre-existing lockers etc. in the settlements safe, or should those be scrapped and rebuilt?

Guy at my work is excited. I am too. Tomorrow I'm gonna check Target for the Jones Soda. Got both preloaded ready to go for tonight. I wonder how packed stores are going to be.
