Man, I really, really like this game so far.

First off, whoever it was that tried to say the
Corvega Plant
is a small place... LOL
Do you mind spoilering details of encounters please? I'll jump back out of this thread soon to avoid spoilers, but I'd love to discover things like that myself. :)

Ahh, ok, so you don't select it before starting?, weird.

What options are there?, any info on what each difficulty level does?

Very easy, easy, normal, hard, very hard and survival

Harder difficulties just boost enemies' stats. Survival also makes healing items weaker.

Sucks having to go to sleep by now. Luckily, I have tomorrow off.

Spent a lot of time after the prologue in the post-war neighborhood scavenging for scrap and modified my pistol.
Then a radiated storm came along.

Some areas look great, others look bad. Overall I think it looks quite good, so I am also very happy with it on PC.

The barren areas with burned (?) foliage look terrible even on ultra.

Had to actually re-check that it had changed the settings from medium back to ultra when I was hanging around in one such area... Game has its moments, though

Thanks, hard is probably the one to go for then.

Yeah, it seems pretty good

So what's the threshold on equipping multiple apparel items? Certain outfits you can't have any other items over it? Some apparel can't be modded?

>_<

All I want is to upgrade my Drifters outfit..

Im dying a lot on hard heh. after the mirelurks, now Im getting owned by these lunging feral ghouls >_< I would say Im not supposed to be here but this is so early on and its where they sent me :p

also, fuck the shotgun, takes ages to reload

I'm actually really enjoying the way this game looks and runs on PC. So much so that I'm worried once I encounter my first large building and watch the framerate tank.

This game really *really* wants you to play it with a controller doesn't it?

Yeah, I feel that way too, but I love my mouse aiming. I hate having to reach for the Enter key so much.

My Steam controller arrives today though, so I will be giving that a try.

Jesus, I get stuck on the first terminal (in the intro), character is unable to move. First bug in not even 5minutes of gameplay.

Great QA there.

I tried to do a bit of a "fish out of water" Character.

Mine is a typical 50's style housewife who was dropped into the wasteland, she has high perception, charisma and luck, but not much strength or endurance, her agility is OK.

I wonder how this is going to pan out!!!

You by chance getting high FPS in the game? If so this seems to be the issue.

I watched a guy on twitch play it for like 12 hours no bugs. He limits the FPS to 60 though.

I have a question guys (1h30 in).

I have
cleaned the first city after the rocket station, I have told the sheriff maybe to moving with them and I got the clues about diamond city. I've returned the power armor to the rocket fuel station and now I wonder what path should I continue on to go "the standar" route.

How do I create a settlement and how does it work? I kinda feel if I take the wrong step here I would "abandon" the tutorial and I wouldnt like that cause I feel understanding al the underlying mechanics of the game aint easy...

Welp

It would be nice if the power armor had its own little inventory for weapons? I want to keep the minigun on the power armor and not particularly in my character's inventory for example. Anyone know if it's possible?

Go listen to the Sheriff's advice. You'll get some quests and some of the info you want there.

Heh, sounds very similar to mine.

I die a lot. :(

Do whatever you want. I helped out Preston for a while, then buggered off into the wilderness instead.

This game looks and plays great on Xbox One so far. I swapped over from PC on Ultra, it holds up really well. About 5 hours in.

Some XB1 screenies.

Didn't check it yet but will do right now I'm going through the ini and the interval thingy but why would I limit my FPS to 60 when I'm on a 144hz Gsync monitor? Didn't they work closely with Nvidia to support their tech?

Seriously it's such a joke. I'll be fucking asking for a refund if I still had my SLI cards too.

Lol, I did wonder if that was going to be the case!

for some reason though, she was quite happy handling a 10mm pistol straight off the bat, wonder why........she may have a chequered past!

I'm going to stick at it for now, I'm liking the perks in perception and luck, so I'll see how it goes. Hopefully it'll be one of those builds that starts weak and gets more fun as I progress.

Well maybe you want to see if it works. If it still locks up than you can go back. Than troubleshoot some more. Who knows if they were working closely with each other. I don't know. You need to calm down son! I am not attacking you but your comment seem kinda angry.

that does not cause the bug. i get around 45 fps most of the time and i got the same issue, had to create a new file.

its interesting... all these places you run into with workstations that you can then scrap or build on, you can (and should?) simply use it to scrap for materials. Like, im sure theres a crazy person out there that will spend 1000 hours in the game and build settlements in ALL these places, but I need to start looking at them as just material caches and scrap everything in places ill never build. Like this drive-in diner for example, or even the red rocket at the start

if I do 1 proper settlement, like say Sanctuary, Ill be happy lol

speaking of, these pictures that austin Walker (from Giantbomb) posted yesterday of the stuff he built are rad, makes me want to delve into it)

Basketball court and pool bar

No worries, I'm not angry at you, just a tad miffed that this shit isn't working properly.
We build our rigs and get expensive hardware in hopes that it will be put to decent use...

Games used to not function cause the pc specs weren't enough, now it's the opposite.
Bizarro world we live in :/

Luckily I only got as far as leaving the vault but I might start over as not liking the look of my character.

Did anyone else loot everything possible in the vault?
apart from the gun in the locked cabinet

Most of it,
even managed to play the Donkey Kong game on the terminal!, and nicked the tape :-P, there's actually quite a bit of background on the various terminals in the vault

Just do whatever you want. The sanctuary settlement is meant to be the "tutorial" to settlements and the quest cant be "abandoned" by doing other stuff. Im playing it this way and return to the settlement whenever I feel like I want to work on my settlements.

This conversation system is horrid. Fuck one of my most favorite things of the old games. I'm still early on so hopefully it'll be better (I somehow doubt the choices will be longer than a few words)

Mostly everything else is great though. Enjoying the way it feels and the graphics are a lot better than the older ones (as to be expected) but the character models are still bad except for my character. VA also ruins a lot of shit.

I've found concrete once, which I had to buy. Can't find where to get it for free from picking it up etc, even though there's blocks that I can't pick up everywhere... anyone know where I can? Assuming I can of course.

Ah okay. Cause most of what I seen is with people way over 60.

So are SPECIAL stats are really important or can I just do w/e I want?

Also is does your characters name have to be a common English name for NPCs to voice it out or does it try to sound it out?

I am screwed either way cause my wife's name is YaChen >.>

Perfect, thing is I WANT to deal with settlements and management, I made the question specifically because I didnt want to miss on that.

Thanks guys.

Sunk about 4 hours in so far. Runs pretty good on my rig. Seems like you could spend quite a bit of time building out all the settlements but I suspect I'll build out Sanctuary and that'll be it. Mostly because of just how time consuming getting resources will be. I've had my fill for tonight. Can't wait to dig in again tomorrow.

So far the game just feels like a modestly upgraded version of the old games. Can't believe we still have maybe 10 NPCs on screen at any time max.

This engine is just archaic no matter how much they try to keep layering stuff on top of it.
