Do we expect Twilight Princess HD will get any gameplay improvements? Speculation?

Much like Wind Waker HD had some nice improvements outside of just a graphical update, do we expect any gameplay improvements for TPHD?

The biggest complaint is the ridiculous long intro/tutorial. Which is such a shame since I know some who gave up on it because of that, missing some of the best dungeons in the series.

Others could me populating the huge, sparse overworld.

Side quests?

Hero Mode?

What are your predictions?

What can Nintendo do to make this more attractive since we know it won't be a under 50 dollars?

I don't know. Wind Waker had a lot of opportunity to improve the overworld and add "missing" dungeons, but that's not what they decided to go for.

I don't think Twilight Princess will be any different. After all, they're enhanced remasters, not remakes. I think keeping it as close to the original game as possible is part of the mission plan.

Most important thing is fixing the pacing of the opening hours (as in, it shouldn't be hours).

Also, completely taking out the tears of light would make the game better but I can't see that happening.

Hero mode which starts after Link becomes human again, optional left-handed mode, optional Wii aiming/controls compatibility, no repeated rupee message and maybe no loading times in Hyrule Field.

Look at this:

That's pretty substantial! Sucks about the dungeons, but I didn't expect that much.

They're gonna put in Gyro Aiming with the Gamepad and it's going to suck. I want my Superior Original Wiimote Pointer system!

we've already had this thread but I'll repost

duh obviously
  • 1080p
  • 30 fps
  • Updated lighting
  • Malo

Hopes
  • Remove useless tutorials at the beginning of the game
  • Just put the fishing rod in various shops so the player can buy it when it's needed
  • Compress the three tutorial days into one (wake up -> herd(optional) -> slingshot/sword(tutorials optional) -> monkey(shortened) -> Ilia kidnapped -> rest as usual)
  • Compressed tear hunting segments
  • No rupee messages
  • Updated textures
  • Overhaul certain bosses a la MM3D to make them more fun to fight against
  • Get Epona whistle real early
  • Choose GC/Wii controls
  • Same equip-fast system as WWHD
  • Enforce Gold Wolf encounters - TP has the most advanced combat moves of any Zelda game but the game only expects you to learn one? Fuck. That.
  • Related: Better enemy spread, more agressive and tougher enemies that require you to use moves other than SWORD SMASH
  • Lock away warping outside of the Twilight until Zelda heals Midna (fuck the Kakariko bridge segment; warm Zora's Domain by defeating some ice monster or whatever)
  • More Bulblin outposts tucked away for your entertainment
  • Compress the alphabet hunt
  • Rearranged Music
  • Don't fuck up Midna's Lament

Dreams
  • Updated models
  • Grass tech from Zelda U (EVERYWHERE)
  • Seamless world
  • Overhaul Hyrule Castle Dungeon (personal wish - you literally storm the castle and fight your way up to Ganondorf together with the resistance. Lock them out of the actual Ganondorf battle with a barrier or have him possess them as well)
  • King Bulblin joins in on your side during Ganondorf phase 3
  • Link's Crossbow Training HD at no extra charge

I'd like the option to use either gamepad or Wii Remote. It was the first full game I played with them and I remember enjoying them (pushing the nunchuck forward to shield bash, pointer aiming with the arrows, etc.), but it would be nice to be able to play the game with the gamepad and have my inventory on the screen.

Is this really a given? I thought it was just a rumor.

Also, I guess yeah, the intro is painfully slow.

Make rupees worth something.

No more waggle?

Faster Epona?

Give me left handed Link or riot ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ

I really need to replay the game, as all I can remember is that dungeon items were useless outside their dungeon.

The only exception were the Bow and Clawshot.

Allow me to skip the beginning where I'm forced to play
as a wolf
. I absolutely loved the game after that point.

The game suffered from pacing issues more than anything. They need to fix that stuff....

This game has a host of disappointments, but considering the alteration to Wind Waker, I don't think them cutting pointless tedium is unrealistic.

Most important thing is fixing the pacing of the opening hours (as in, it shouldn't be hours).

Also, completely taking out the tears of light would make the game better but I can't see that happening.

I think the bigger issue is not making the game piss-easy. Late-game enemies have no business hitting for 1/4th of a heart and showering the player with hearts for killing cannon fodder enemies (as I noticed many did way back when I played).

Opening hours sucks for sure, though. Making you do the horse riding tutorial twice for no reason? Making you run around the village in the most mind-numbingly convoluted string of fetch quests just to get a damn slingshot? Making every single tutorial unskippable and long-winded? All of these have to go.

Higher difficulty, and fix the pacing of the first half.

Keep the infinite bomb and arrow glitch.

These are the major flaws TP has in my opinion, none of which will be fixed in the HD port, of course:

- The overworld is empty.
- There are very few side quests and they are very boring.
- Most items become useless/impractical after completing the dungeon where you get them.
- Most hidden chests only contain rupees, which in most cases we can't collect since our wallet is already full.
- It's the easiest game. Bosses are ridiculously easy, and dying is almost impossible.
- The story is kinda broken, we get almost no background on that twilight world Midna comes from, and the sequences that explain it are really weird and confusing.

And yes, the starting section is really long, but cut it and you'll be getting rid of a good chunk of the game's length.

If they're taking advantage of new hardware, I would've loved to see a more dangerous and lively overworld map. Give me some roaming squads of enemies that I either have to take a wide berth around or tackle head-on as I go from town to town. There are some parts that are....decent in that regard, but not many.

The "boss battle" with the squad of boar-riders was excellent. Too bad it was pretty much the first and last field battle that was memorable.

I think Nintendo's already demonstrated that they will not, under any circumstances, actually change the content of a remastered game. So assuming TPHD is a thing - and that is already a tenuous assumption in my opinion - the only things to be expected are the new HD coat of paint, and gameplay improvements.

Personally, my problem with a TP remaster is actually that, unlike WW, there aren't any sweeping and logical gameplay improvements that I feel would significantly improve the game as a whole (other than Hero Mode). TP didn't have clunky systems that GREATLY benefited from being moved onto the GamePad, like mapping. It didn't have significant time wasters like sailing. And it didn't have progression gated off by easily modifiable padding like Tingle's deciphering-service costs. Most of the "padding" in TP is much more content-based and won't easily be changed without changing the core content underneath.

I suspect, if TPHD ends up being a thing, a fresh coat of HD paint, Hero Mode, and possibly some kind of Miiverse integration will be the main features. I personally can't think of any other significant gameplay improvements Nintendo would make, because most other significant improvements would change the core content. Which Nintendo won't do.

But we'll see. Hopefully in a few days from now with the Direct.

Edit: Would also like to point out - if Nintendo remasters TP and it comes out soon, then they'll have remastered two full HD Zeldas in a row without releasing a new Zelda console game. Even OoT3D and MM3D had ALBW between them. Just another reason why I seriously doubt TPHD is in the cards for the near future.

Wait, there's a Twilight Princess HD?

Hackers looking at eShop data found a WiiU icon for Twilight Princess. This was assumed to be for a VC release until the words Twilight Princess HD were also found on the eShop. It's expected to be announced tomorrow, but who knows.

Would just like to see some basic usability improvements thanks to the handy WiiU gamepad. Minimap/Inventory on the touch screen would be nice.

I played TP on the Wii, so I am just excited to play w/o waggle.

Compress the alphabet hunt

Good points all around but I'd add that the battle system in this game is really underused.
If you try a 3hearts run you really have to use the advanced moves and overall the game is really way more entertaining.

I'd love if there were a few more cutscenes with Zelda in them. Midna seemed to really care for her, but the story didn't really give us much of a chance to connect with Zelda. Like in the final cut scene, I didn't even care Zelda was there. A waste of such an awesome design.

I didn't mind the start of the game in general at all. What I didn't like was collecting a million sodding insects!

Skyward Sword showed how to do it right, with the tears of light or whatever they were called.

Maybe it could work if finding them were easier, and there's like three less per area. Edit: Or hey, what if they'd show up on a map on the gamepad when they're within a certain radius? That could work.

But I'm not expecting any changes to the games content. I'll be satisfied with improved graphics, controls and audio.
