I have a bug were a Yao Guai with a skull by it's name spawns just outside Sanctuary. Funny thing is I had raiders try and get in my settlement only for the Yao to run up and one hit them.

Also I have found 3 bobble heads in about a 4hr play through.

I am still in the beginning sanctuary area but is there a place/person I can trade with and offload all the junk I collected? Some NPC's have the trade option but that seems to just put shit in their inventory and not actually sell the item.

Question about "joining groups/factions" from a Fallout series newb.

If I join the Brotherhood of Steel, will I lose access to the stuff I've set up for the Minutemen? And if so, will they be hostile towards me?

The Trophy-whore in me wants to join the Brotherhood, but I don't really wanna lose everything I've put into the Minutemen.

Literally have the same question and no one has responded to me yet.

Anyone been using Aquaboy/girl perk yet and explore the waters?

So far I have only encountered one quest, the Plug It In IIRC the name, where it is specifically required since you need to go underwater.

On the map IIRC there's a solitary island outside the mainland... curious what's in there....

Do it, its a bethesda game
(Dont know about raiders though)

In theory you should be able to do that. That's how the past games worked I believe. Of course nothing is 100% certain. I personally think safer bets are the settlements instead of just some random locker elsewhere. I would kinda check somewhat often to make sure items are still there. In FO3 I stuck to the house you get in Megaton and in New Vegas I kept things stored in the motel apartment you get. No where else just in case the game decided it didn't like that.

It should stay there.

But it's a Bethesda game. I've loaded a quick save before that had lootables missing (food to be harvested).

As far as I know yes you can store things anywhere and they'll stay there. I've played 18 hours so far and I put a trunk in Sanctuary early on in my game which is where I store all the shit I don't use but don't want to sell and nothing's disappeared yet.

Thanks!

Any of the crafting tables have a "Transfer" option. Square button on PS4.

Or you can scrap it in the other option.

I have. I haven't really found anything great under water yet though.

Anyone already restarted their game?

It's so difficult for me to pick a build. I was sneaking and it was working well so far. I also wanted to keep my dog with me because doggies are the best but I'm not sure if that'll fit well with my stealth build. Hmmm.

Someone just make the decision for me.

Having just a single point in stealth is helpful even with the dog around. It lets one approach an objective without being immediately seen, and even line up a headshot.

I'm just going full tilt charisma, lady killer, all that. It's turning out quite well. I have been able to coerce my way out of a lot of problems.

I actually asked this question like... A couple pages back. So far joining them has had no impact on the Minutemen quest line. In fact, I think I got too far ahead in both quest lines relative to my level cause they're REALLY far out in the higher level mob areas. Apparently one of the Minutemen quests (the one I'm at now I think) is fucking nuts.

In terms of the faction question. I guess this is a spoiler? Or not? Light spoiler it is then.
I'm 10 hours in and have yet to encounter any other major joinable faction. I have yet to encounter any sort 'Enclave' or 'Legion' kind of faction vying for control of the Commonwealth (I liked this power struggle story in NV). I'm convinced the Brotherhood of Steel might be like on of two major factions outside of the Minutemen. I'm gonna guess the other one is the Railroad

I never had a problem with threedog he wasn't memorable to me though..the jimmy fallon mixed with edgy sardonic hipster radio deejay is memorable in the worst way..what were they thinking?

The legendary enemies make Survival difficulty into a brutal affair. Every legendary fight I was running the gamut of kiting, VATs, switching between 4-6 weapons, throwing projectiles, etc.
Had to bump it down to Very Hard and I'm having a much better time lol, I can actually survive more than two hits now!

Sounds coo. I used similar strategies in Fallot 3 but that was due to enemies being damage sponges; I had to conserve ammo and armor parts.

I don't mind such difficulty as long as my character is a glass cannon. I would like to see a variety of balanced and viable builds that can deal with such enemies.

The weapons are so damn ugly. :) I miss the more realistic style ones, especially the pistols. NV had some real beauties.

I could say the same about a lot of assets in Fallout 4. The texture work and choice of colors just seems weird and rather cartoon-y instead of being retro-futuristic. A "realistic" or a "wasteland texture pack" would help a lot.

Impressions after a few hours:

Good
-Combat is much I improved. While still not on MachineGames or Id's level, it feels good
-AI is improved
-World design seems very strong
-Great art direction
-General upgrades (like opening containers for loot, sprinting, crosshairs, gun lowering when against wall) are welcome
-like the ambient music
-I like the power armor design
-Settlement building and modding both look like they'll be fun
-Stable framerate most of the time
-Leveling system doesn't seem so bad despite my initial apprehension
-World looks great in motion
-No bugs found yet outside of some dialog slips

Bad
-Framerate drops in big firefights
-Animations nowhere near where they need to be, especially during dialog cutscenes

Overall: excellent.

I have. I haven't really found anything great under water yet though.

Just random junk so far? No secret locations/items/enemies that kind of thing?

...that's disappointing :(

IIRC on the map there's an island separated from the mainline by large body of water. Have you checked it out?

Hey guys, could anyone help me out with a few questions? I can't play until I finish building my PC, which will hopefully be tomorrow, just waiting for the RAM to arrive.

1. Does difficulty affect XP gained like FO3?

2. Do certain armor types restrict movement speed, besides power armor? Like is leather faster to move in than metal?

3. I'm torn between a Str/End/Int melee/big guns build, and a a more balanced 'sniper' build. Is one much more viable for Survival difficulty? I usually love going melee but it always feels very boring in the Fallout games.

4. Any shotgun perks? Do they count as Rifles for rifleman, or do they not benefit from neither Rifleman nor Commando?

Did anyone else notice that if you step on a mine and then reload, the mine won't be there any more?

I wonder if it's a bug or by design to prevent save scumming mine retrieval.

I haven't really played a lot to be fair.

Spoiler:
I have the map from the survival guide. Further down near the higher level enimes (I mean 25+). There are loads of points of interests on the map very far out in the sea to the right.

Almost 8 hours in, and I just realized you can store all your junk at the work benches...

Really enjoying the game and haven't experienced any negative issues as of yet with the xbox one version. The crafting systems are super addictive, glad I went with a build that includes those.

I was disappointed by the intro (mostly because I really wanted to explore the vault and get attached to characters in there, I wanted to see how the organization of the vault was), but so far the technical side of things is perfectly fine on PS4. I like some of the little additions like not having to open drawers to see what's in them, and the aiming is improved but lacks any autoaim, seemingly, making me really terrible at it for now.

Can't wait to play more, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Power armor collection so far

Okay, what are the best ways to handle the radiation storms?

I'd recommend either keeping a set of apparel with better radiation resistance (gas mask variants, hazmat suit, etc), popping Rad-X as soon as it rolls in, or finding indoor zone shelter for a while and waiting it out. I've only had decent head piece for the most part and I don't have too much trouble staying outside during a storm.

Hmm Codsworth doesn't address me by name even though my character has a pretty common name (Catherine). Anyone else having that issue?

Bethesda Bug #1!

Only found Katherine on the list.

Katrina isn't either nor is my wife's Chinese name. It had Chinese names but not hers.

Also sex, lamb, nipple, markiepoo are voiced.

Yep, I can already tell stealth is pretty helpful.

That's great charisma is working out well! Probably going to try and make a stealthy, charismatic, dog whisperer.

These new ghouls are some 28 days later shit. I don't know if my tire iron can handle like 10+ right out of starterville

Is it possible to run out of resources for base building? Like, use up all the availble steel or wood or whatever in the whole map? Or do they respawn in certain places?

Yeah, my fucking console has unique parts that cause videogames to run worse than everyone else. Sure.

Played like 20 hours of FO3 on the 360 to prep myself for console bethesda again and FO4 on ps4 is demonstrably worse than that port.

I've put 6 hours in on my PS4 version, been pretty clean sailing for me: everyone's going to have different experiences it seems: mine's been fine on console. The odd dip, but nothing that bad with ~30fps most of the way.

Had my share of problems on the PC version to begin with (stuttering on a 980), but fixed that with a few tweaks: if anyone's getting stuttering first thing you should do is Windowed/Borderless - fixed it right up for me (but hasn't worked for everyone) :)

Oh my. The sound of lightning in the radiation storms. Like some type of bouncy electric noise, too fucking cool.

I know right? Man.... the music/sound in this game is phenomenal, sound design when exploring is truly amazing: best in class.

if you fail a speech attempt, will you always fail it or is it a percentage chance? If I quicksave can I keep trying and eventually get it or is it predestined?

edit: got my answer. You can eventually pass it.

I think the attention to detail is pretty cool. Just exploring some random sewers and finding cool loot tucked away in some hidden corner under a rock is the best feeling ever.

Question

I left the power armor behind after the
Deathclaw fight
because it ran out of power. I have an icon on my map telling me it's in the freedom museum but I can't seem to find it. Looks like the icon is pointing to a part of the building I can't get to?
