I can't help but feel like this game tries to do too many things too at once in a short amount of time, which results in you being completely overwhelmed and frustrated by the information overload.

At least that's been my experience thus far. I wish they didn't throw so many new concepts at you so quickly. You don't even have time to digest the last concept before the next one comes flying your way.

Question

I left the power armor behind after the
Deathclaw fight
because it ran out of power. I have an icon on my map telling me it's in the freedom museum but I can't seem to find it. Looks like the icon is pointing to a part of the building I can't get to?

Its exactly where you left it.

Man, I just can't believe how familiar it all feels. I definitely needed more Fallout in my life. I spent 2 hours just exploring the first area of the game where your home used to be. I'm going to be playing this for a long time.

1) Is it safe to store items in a storage box I built in
Sanctuary
?
2) How do you dock the Power Armor?
3) Is Dogmeat the only companion who can't be levelled up?

I'm bottlenecking so hard on adhesive for all my gun upgrade plans. I've had it flagged for search looking for all the tape I can find and still not getting anywhere near enough for all the mods I can build.

Anybody happen to know of the location of a tape factory?

I could say the same about a lot of assets in Fallout 4. The texture work and choice of colors just seems weird and rather cartoon-y instead of being retro-futuristic. A "realistic" or a "wasteland texture pack" would help a lot.

I understand they wanted that look for the weapons to fit what they were going for, but they look like goofy steampunk guns now.

Textures...yeah, my first comment in here I think was about how everything looks like plastic and/or toys.

Haha holy crap I just hit that bottleneck right now as well. It's like 'welp there's my crafting'.

Progression-wise, is there any point to the settlement stuff? It just seems so clunky and I'm not sure where to go with it, although I'm progressing that questline here and there.

I love Diamond City. As someone who has spent countless hours in Fenway it's really cool.

Nah, it's optional. It's for people who like to build their own things and manage stuff like that.

...I dunno how to get more settlers to my shit. Things need scavenging, people! Fuck it I'll kill all the bastards who dare make residence into my Red Rocket.

The base building stuff is a perfect example of a feature the game throws at you with a half-assed explanation before lobbing something else at you.

You have to build a
commuication tower and give it power. Then turn it on and depending on your base stats they will turn up. I have 12 people so far.

Ha I saw someone sleeping in my house where you start the game - woke his ass up. Very rude.

Doesn't that only effect that one zone though? I didn't seem to have it unlocked for other settlements yet.

Who binded the grenade and weapon melee together?!?...ended up accidentally throwing a grenade and killed myself when my intention was to melee...

Huh, so like Dark Souls? Instead of increasing the framerate they're just doubling the speed things happen at, huh?

I'll make a
murder tower then.
People will die. I will create a grinder that will mash them to bits as they enter.

Oh hell naw, that's sacrilegious right there. I hope you stabbed him.

Do items scale in this game?

Like if I find a special item early on, will I be "gimping" that item in terms of its damage/protection or what?

Look in Misc.

In Sanctuary, is the bridge towards Concord the only entry point for enemies that attack your settlement? A couple of sentry guns facing the bridge enough to have a safe settlement?

This took me like twenty minutes to find too, I felt pretty dumb. It's right underneath the catwalk Jared was standing on; there's a piece of wood against the wall that says "KEEP OUT" which is covering the safe.

THANK YOU. I would have never found that.

I haven't a clue. So I built a wall right around Sanctuary with a gate at the bridge. I then have two turret guns just outside the gate and a sentry post just inside the gate.

Sounds 100% secure, but annoying to build I guess. Anyone else who only built sentry guns at the bridge and have found that to be enough?

Man... I've played most of the day since the game came out & I'm pretty enamored with it.

I will say that this is definitely more like FO3 than FNV, which is to be expected, I suppose. There is definitely more emphasis on battling and definitely less emphasis on plot.

This isnt' really a bad thing, exactly, since these games have so much narrative tied up in exploration and the emergent story that occurs as you make decisions while playing, but I could imagine people hoping for something like FNV being disappointed by the relatively extreme amount of combat in comparison.

I don't mind it, really, but I am curious how viable non-combat builds are. There were a few major battles so far (12 hours in?) that you'd be unlikely to finish without having some combat focus.

Does combat feel slower in this game compared to 3/NV to anyone else? Not sure I like it so far. Need to get used to it.

What the heck is wrong with Valve? They added a new store region, changed currency AND started charging 82$ for Fallout 4--it was 60$ yesterday you corporate ****s. There are decent sales (baits) for ancient games, but new releases are 60$+.

I recently got a voucher from GmG for Fallout 4 where I can get it for 48$, so I will probably start redeeming games from now on.

I did a mission (a really awesome one, by the way) that resulted in me
being offered to join the brotherhood of steel.
I wasn't sure, I hadn't thought about it, but I just said yes for fear of not getting another chance.

Yes you can join Minutemen and BOS, I'm currently in both.

Found the holy grail of Power Armors last night, T-51 and got the T60 earlier lol, currently have 2 full sets of T-45, 1 T-51 and 1 T-60.

Now where is that XA-01 lol.
