Will using cheats disable Steam achievements like it did in Fallout New Vegas?

I've gotten achievements after messing with the carryweight. Messed with console within the first 40 minutes of the game. Nine hours later I'm getting an achievement for getting a touchdown.

What color are you guys setting your pipboy display to? I'm talking specifically about the flashlight color. I thought the default green flashlight looked terrible. I looked up a YouTube video and it recommended orange. Orange made the the way the flashlight illuminated your environment look way better, but the actual pipboy display looked awful. Gonna have to keep messing with this to find an ideal setting.

So I played a couple hours earlier for the first time. Just got back to the Xbox, launched the game, and it's sitting at the launch montage of the garage on infinite loop. Been more than five solid minutes now... There's a little loading charm on the bottom-right of the screen but nothing is happening. The game is blocked before loading in any UI. I force-quit it and tried again and it's the same.

The fuck is this?

A light blue works for me.

So about the thing where the game can recognise some of the name that you can have for your character. If you pick one of these names then do the NPCs refer to you by name or do they still use lady/mum/dad/woman/man etc?

Because my character's name wasn't there so my ribot just called me mum.

Did I start the Brotherhood of Steel missions too early?
I'm hunting down distress signals, and I'm onto the third one which is a satellite park filled with super mutants. I'm only level 7 and barely step in the gate and get murdered from every direction.

Codsworth you robot little shit, I am trying to disarm a laser trap and he runs through it killing us. Just before he does that he makes the remark "I feel this place is a tad little unsafe".

Ahh do I pick this up? I'm being pulled in by launch hype. I only played 3 for half hour or so. Wasn't especially my thing but maybe I should give the series another chance.

Witcher 3 is like that too.

"I got to find my daughter! And the Wild Hunt threatens everything as we know it! Oh but uhh...anybody wanna play Gwent?" :P

Gwent is the maingame yo, the Wild Hunt is just an excuse to travel all over to play Gwent.

Nah, I mean putting points in *both* lockpicking and hacking. Aside from additional xp (since you can still hack terminals to open the gate even when the gate is already opened for instance) that are generally paltry anyways, and most of the time it seems like you can either lockpick *or* hack your way to get the same content, it seems better to just focus on one of them at the beginning and put points on other perks before putting points on the other.

Are you playing on a higher difficulty or something? I've been taking both lockpicking and hacking as they become available, but I also keep my pistol updated to deal as much damage as it can and haven't had any issues so far. There's no reason to grab multiple combat perks anyway early on simply because you don't have access to as much ammo for more specialized weapons, or you simply don't find a real, general use gun that replaces the pistol.

Early on it just seems like the pistol and shotgun are the "go-to" weapons, with the sniper or energy being extremely situational. Yeah, the XP isn't all that, but even though you can use one solution to open a door or safe, or whatever, you can still actually get the rewards from both skills. Unlock the door by picking it first, then hack the terminal. Stupid, but it works.

Finally got my laser rifle from the mission reward with danse.

I was fearful i'd be stuck using the institute rifles, because they take up like half the screen holy shit.

The first mod I want installed is one that reduced the weapon model size when in first person, that shit is actually outrageous.

First mod I want has changed from removing the compass to removing every enemy that charges at you to explode.

Never forget. Never forgive.

Speaking of Energy Weapons tho, why isn't there a perk in the perk tree? Are they just part of the rifles/automatics/pistols perks, or is there like a magazine you need to read?

could you imagine this guy just sitting on the couch gazing at the vista & suddenly a mushroom cloud in the horizon and the blast wave is coming to you

edit: pics arent working well on quotes anymore? they dont expand for some odd reason

"Oh my god I have got to find my son...but first I'll build a settlement, maybe explore for a bit...oooh just found this cool gun and a load of caps...now this stranger wants me to take on a dangerous mission and kill a load of people...this town I've just discovered is full of people needing stuff done...where was I again? Oh yeah, my kid...meh, whatever, he'll be fine."

Heh. This is how most RPGs work. "There's this urgent end of the world scenario but first let me level up, fight optional bosses, have party with my friends, etc"

I've never really played the series. I've played an hour of FO3 and like 20 minutes of Fallout 1, so I have no real attachment to the series.

To me the game is nothing special. I'm actually regretting my purchase because I'm losing interest in it quickly. I've put in 10 hours and I've found the writing bland. The sidequests are especially lacking in the writing department. The enemy encounters have been kinda sad too. Especially the higher level mobs who just have a ton of HP and regen their health. Nothing very challenging about them.

I'm also at this one location where I'm literally bombarded with about 10 ghouls. It's not very fun or challenging. It's just straight up unfair. It's not my level too because I can easily kill them. It's just the radiation damage ontop of the mob that makes it unenjoyable.

I'm going to definitely going to give it a fair chance though. I don't want to miss out on something I might seriously enjoy because of a few bad locations. Might just do other quests and level up, and might even take on a human companion. See if that helps.

I have to agree. Played on PS4 for over 20 hours and really don't get the appeal, aside from the technical issues that I don't mind, I really don't enjoy the gameplay. Gunfights feel tedious, extremely low carry weight ruins looting & exploration for me and some gamedesign decisions are really stupid (map icon for power armor but not for companions?!).
I will continue playing simply because I hope that getting more perks will make the game more enjoyable for me, but so far I'm not impressed...

LOL THAT'S AMAZING! I could feel your rage and confusing.

Also I thought it was mega weird, but they seem to benefit from the pistol / rifle perks, there is also that nuclear physicist perk that boosts radiation damage but that pertains to plasma weapons I think, not energy weps.

Really strange there is no energy weapon perk.

I love changing clothes before heading to an important conversation. It has this feel of roleplaying and it's actually useful as you get extra charisma for suits and a nice hat.

Especially those times you put on a dress (as a male) simply because it offers the best charisma bonus...which I find hilarious.

I asked a similar question earlier. If the pistol, automatic and rifle perks are all encompassing, I guess that's good. I never really understood why they were seperated between ballistic and energy in the first place other than as an RPG reward for specializing. Sure, you would have to know how to actually load them and potentially do upkeep on them, but I'm not sure knowing how to aim a ballistic pistol is going to be so vastly different than holding an energy pistol and hitting your target sans any kickback.

You found anything better than +2 CHA yet? I'm just using some crappy slacks because they weigh the least (and a wig for +1 too which was lighter than a hat).

How big is the world in comparison to say GTA 5 and Witcher 3?

I don't think they were lying when they said it's similar in size to Skyrim, because that's what it feels like, so far. Since you're on foot all the time, it changes your perspective a lot.

I initially got this on PC, but after not being able to go 15 minutes without the game crashing and various other issues (framerate, screen tearing, couldn't go full screen unless i changed my desktop to 1920 x 1080 (i'm at 2560 x 1080), etc.) I got my refund from steam and I went ahead and picked it up on PS4.

I hate doing shooters on consoles (i'm very imprecise with controllers) but I'm having a pleasant time so far. I've been trying to do as much weapons crafting as I can, and right now I'm just kind of exploring with the dog.

Is there a reason some raider groups have 10000000 mollies?

Any enemy with consumables on them has infinite consumables of that type. Just wait till you find a dude with plasma grenades. Holy fuck.

Doesn't help that their AI is set to 'run as fast they can at the player to get within throwing range, then spam grenades'.

I just had a super mutant chase me half-way across the map, tossing molotovs the entire way. "Did I lose him yet? Boom, woosh, nope." rinse and repeat 30 times.

do you overclock the PC?

changing him to a human NPC is better in every way
They are more useful in combat too

I've had
Piper
do it a lot too, a couple of times she's also just decided to run in front of me as I'm in VATS so from the second shot onwards they're all hitting her so I have to cancel out of it line up again.

I found a +2 checkered shirt/slacks suit and a +2 dress. The only reason I keep the dress is because it doesn't cover the arms, while the suit does. I don't know if there are actually any charisma arms or sleeves, but that's why I don't use the suit (even though it's more appropriate). Also found a hat and glasses. I started with 1 charisma, but used the book early to raise it to 2. With all of the gear I've found so far, it's 6.

Charisma still seems to suck, even in this game. Other than up to level 3, the rest are just garbage, filler skills. Sure, I guess if you're serious about "roleplaying" you could take them just for the odd situations where they become useful, but for conversations and such, it's not hard to reach 8-9 starting from 1. Plus, it seems like it would get ridiculously tedious trying to charm or intimidate enemies that you can just kill with a few shots anyway.

found my first vault, wonder how many there are. Also, this zone continues to be building / "dungeon" center, the vault was the third in close proximity I found, and I just found a fourth one I can go in. Damn son

edit: and now a radio signal too that lead to another quest lol.

Been finally playing this a bit tonight, and so far it's kinda been reminding me of the good times I had in Fallout 3...so far so good, but on Xbox One, the framerate hitches do suck. Plus there has been some general buggy-ness that hasn't been too cool.

Then there are bugs like this that happen, that still make me laugh and I'm perfectly okay with lol

Can followers be equipped by certain weapons/armour? Excluding Power Armor

Check the button prompts when you have the trade window open - on PC at least, it's T to equip stuff.

@Sanctuary: yeah all the clothes seem to have +2 at most - maybe there's naughty sleepwear again that'll give you a higher CHA bonus. Can't wait to run around in pyjamas again just for a slightly higher discount at stores (which are fucking expensive now, goddamn).

My melee character is such a fucking juicer, man. I can't wait until I get high enough level to get the second rank of Chem Resistant.

Drugs are the best. In the wasteland, winners do drugs.

It definitely happens with all the AI characters... but the dog is designed to run in front of you

So he is much more probable to be in the way
It was a relief to switch him out

What does the little green progress bar represent in the top right corner of the settlement building HUD? Max number of objects you can place or something like that?
