So I encountered my first big bug , fairly early into the game near the robotics disposal center.

It seems if you save and/or load a game when you're near this place it can "break" you being able to get the robot, I did a quick save before I activated it and it simply would not work if I loaded that quicksave, it kept saying it couldn't establish a connection.

I loaded an earlier save not near the area and then went there and activated it just fine.

Then I encountered yet ANOTHER bug with the robot, when I issued it a "defend" command it simply would not move at all.

I found out if you bring up the console, click on the robot and then type disable, then type enable, it "reloads" the robot and then it will move to where it's meant to go.

Now my question is, will using the console to fix this mess up the steam achievements?

Hmm so I came across this now, I have a save game a few meters before the "discovered" notification pops up. I haven't done any quick saves after discovering it and
I activated it by the terminal and it starts up but still stays sitting down. Every time I try talk to it it says "Do not interfere with security operations" but remains in same sitting position the whole time. Something is telling me that due to its prototype nature and its unknown functionality and that it's seemingly broken, it may not work all the time by design? I have no idea lol. I can't even get it to get up. Just keeps on telling me not to interfere so I can't even issue commands or anything. Do I have to dismiss my companion or something?

Edit:
Oh wait, I was supposed to go back to the terminal, I can give it a defensive command there or self destruct. Hmm.

Edit 2:
Holy shit I can use this thing to help me attack/defend a nearby area? Amazing

Edit 3:
Can't issue commands. Hmm this thing seems very bugged, I didn't do the save things you did and still having similar problems.

Edit 4:
Yeah after doing the console stuff seems to fix it but will rather avoid that for now, hoping for a bug fix or something. Thanks for help.

Someone answered my first question repeating my second.

AHHHHH this game is so awesome. My goty so far.

Second, when I find weapons with mods I like, such as a pipe pistols with comfort grip but... I already have a better one I just want the grip is there a way to scrap for just the mod, or is that a perk later on maybe?

Thanks for answering in advance, at work just wanted to know for when I get home. Such a cool game!

I believe once you scrap a weapon with a mod, the mod automatically goes into the mod section of your pipboy.

Doesn't seem that way to me or maybe I'm getting a bug. I'll look into it more though when I'm off since I assumed that is how it would work and it isn't for me.

Question about early in the game settlement:

i got to the point in sanctuary where I've built them beds, planted food, put in water pumps, built defense, etc. The quest description now says to talk to Sturges. Every time I talk to him the only dialogue option is to barter with him, which seems to do nothing. What am I supposed to do?

You may have to wait for a patch, for that quest.

You can also try fast traveling out the cell (go somewhere far away), then sleep for a day or so, they fast travel back - it will reset the NPC.

I don't know then, there is a lot about the crafting that isn't explained, we could probably do with a crafting / building OT to collate tips and tricks.

Maybe try replacing the mod with a standard part then scraping the weapon?

I've got about 9hrs through remote play with my PsVita and things have been smooth. The buttons placement is good too. Will be playing the whole game this way. So far the only annoying thing is Npc sometimes have their sentences cut short which ruins the moment.

I must try this. Need to find my Vita first though....

Haven't looked into the character charts before hand and now I am here with 1 INT and 7 CHA and I would love to flip that shit around. The CHA perks seem all over the place. Bummer, but will continue. Hate restarting (5,5 hrs in).

I find the "legendary" enemies pretty cheap desigend. Expected something else than just a simple hp regen and more dmg mob.

Yeeah, I was hoping for something more unique. If not completely unique models, at least unique attributes like.. Being particularly fast or aggressive or something. Anything. Legendaries are literally just stat-boosted regular enemies.

At least if the legendary item they have is a weapon, its bonuses will apply to the enemy too. A legendary raider had a wounding revolver that inflicted bleeding on me when I was hit. Died a LOT.

That reminds me, why can't they just have it so there's no collision with you and your companion?

That'd be a useful mod. Not like it'd break immersion. I take an elevator without Dogmeat hopping on, but he's waiting for me below.

Was planning on getting this for Christmas soon, but those user reviews on Steam and elsewhere are sending alarm bells. Are those user reviews just hardcore backlash, similar to the FO 1&2 community backlash against FO3? What's the general consensus on the game ?

"Oh my god I have got to find my son...but first I'll build a settlement, maybe explore for a bit...oooh just found this cool gun and a load of caps...now this stranger wants me to take on a dangerous mission and kill a load of people...this town I've just discovered is full of people needing stuff done...where was I again? Oh yeah, my kid...meh, whatever, he'll be fine."

It's great, personally and as a consensus in this thread.

Welcome to every open ended game ever.

It's a massive RPG that been out for a day. Most of those user reviews are worthless.

Did you enjoy Fallout 3 or New Vegas? Do you want to play another one of those? If the answer's yes then you'll like this.

that's how every Fallout is
this is like F3, but reversed

Essentially your agility and yes, there are perks under the agility tree to improve AP / bullet

I hate it that you can't respec in this game. It's my first Fallout game and when I started I thought I wouldn't enjoy VATS. I only put 1 point in AGL.
I know I can level up SPECIALS but still it's going to take a long time.

I've never really played the series. I've played an hour of FO3 and like 20 minutes of Fallout 1, so I have no real attachment to the series.

To me the game is nothing special. I'm actually regretting my purchase because I'm losing interest in it quickly. I've put in 10 hours and I've found the writing bland. The sidequests are especially lacking in the writing department. The enemy encounters have been kinda sad too. Especially the higher level mobs who just have a ton of HP and regen their health. Nothing very challenging about them.

I'm also at this one location where I'm literally bombarded with about 10 ghouls. It's not very fun or challenging. It's just straight up unfair. It's not my level too because I can easily kill them. It's just the radiation damage ontop of the mob that makes it unenjoyable.

I'm going to definitely give it a fair chance though. I don't want to miss out on something I might seriously enjoy because of a few bad locations. Might just do other quests and level up, and might even take on a human companion. See if that helps.

I love changing clothes before heading to an important conversation. It has this feel of roleplaying and it's actually useful as you get extra charisma for suits and a nice hat.

I think I'm just gonna use the console to give me unlimited carry weight. What's the console command? I don't care if it's cheating, with every item being sort of necessary now it just hurts my enjoyment. Plus, even less reason to bring a companion along.

(character spoiler)
Holy shit nick valentine you're a useless piece of shit.

Is anyone else annoyed that reloading is the same button as the transfer menu? I cant count the number of times i wanted to reload while ducking behind cover only to open a container of some sort.

If you're on PC, you could just use console commands to respec

I think that difficulty wise they need to patch the frequency enemies throws granades and molotv at you! That's is what gets me killed most of time.

player.setav carryweight ###

I set it to like 20k since I like hoarding stuff in games.

I do somethings similar in The Witcher 3 actually. I always jump into a river to take a bath after some time, or after fighting. Makes me feel fresh.

That's kind of like every RPG ever.

The world is in peril, yet let's spend 2 hours herding goats.

Sitting in the office all day waiting for the time that you're able to go home is gonna be my life for the next month or so, right?
