Trying not too read too many posts since I am early n the game, but I did want to ask. Am I being paranoid by not wanting to spend my perk points because I'm afraid that I will spend them on the wrong points? I figure if i wait a while I will get a better idea of what my play style is and then will spend them then.

Don't worry about them too too much, most perks are good enough that they're not wasted, though there was a perk rating guide, if someone can link that you should take a look

Agreed, game world was amazing... I was worried it wasn't going to be as dark or jam packed with hidden secrets / stories like Fallout 3, glad to see I was VERY wrong.

And creating settlements is sooooo damn addicting, best Fallout by far IMO.
When you sit there and tell me how amazing the game world is, and then immediately after tell me how addicting the settlements thing is, I gotta take your first statement with a huge grain of salt. Different tastes I guess.

I'll ask again:

Has anyone got stuck in an elevator that doesn't move when trying to get to the top of Trinity Tower? I've found one that doesn't move for me.

confused on something... At sanctuary, there is this guy who's like "hey, lets trade". I give him stuff but I don't get caps in return. Is he literally just there for me to offload items to, like a bank?

Is there anyone in the game you sell items to, to get caps?

Never played a Fallout game and picked this up in the Target sale. Ive been jonesing for a single player experience game. I was excited at first but now I am not so sure to open it. lol

Seems like there is a LOT to do. More than the usual open world game.

Yes, there's many in Diamond City.

To sell items you need to barter, not trade.

Anyone who's apart of your settlement gives you their items and isnt a proper merchant.

head south of sanctuary, there's a farm and the farmers wife will trade

AW man I see Bethesda still hasn't given up on the combat design of spamming enemies after enemies with little supplies available.

I know you become more powerful later on but the earlier encounters should be designed in a way that you are not battling the system most of the time. I have shit weapons, little to nothing to recover health and it's been ages since I last saw a stimpack which would help me get rid of the health penalty.

The health penalty idea, what do people think of it? I think it's shit and has no place in any game.
I like the health penalty. It's kinda like being hollow in Dark Souls.

im not into settlements at all, game world is still amazing

Just a heads up, if you don't like the camera view during conversations press the touchpad (or whatever button switches view for you) to go back to the normal in-game camera.

I cant for the life of me defeat the Mirelurk queen ... I'm playing normal, should I just come back when I'm stronger?

I'm level 14 now and the game has gotten a lot tougher for me, I think my weapons aren't doing enough damage or my armor isnt that good ... Any help? tips?

I'm the same level and keep getting destroyed. When it came to kill the Queen I also had a legendary mirelurk glowing one show up. I gave up.

I wish it gave you some indication whether you are the right level for some of these missions.

just want to make sure i understand this. i can throw all junk into storage at my settlement and the materials needed will be pulled when building anything in my settlement, same with materials needed for weapon upgrades. however if im NOT in my settlement and come across a weapons workbench the materials i have available is strictly what i have on me in my inventory at that time, right?

Who has the official strategy guide? I was thinking "Hey I've got the internet, fuck that thing" but this early there is no good place with accumulated information yet. Is it worth it? Should I go grab one? The gamestops near me all have the hardcover version as well....

Damn, amazon has them cheaper too. Should I get one? Or is there a good site out there that I don't know about? I mainly want info on the following things:

-Effective use of resources for base building
-Info on frequency of attacks or pending danger to bases
-Locations of top-tier weapons/armor/resources

Need to do unimportant things like shower, eat and get my hair cut.

THEN, I can start to build Sanctuary into a settlement worthy of its name.

I want it to be like a castle. I will take screenshots when it's done. See you next week GAF!

Oh yeah, on the subject of HP...

If you increase your endurance later in the game, do you gain relative HP for every level you earned before that point, or are low endurance levels "wasted" in terms of HP, and the only way to get max HP is to start with endurance at 10?

Does anyone else think the order of the first two Minutemen quests is odd?

Mission 1: Infiltrate a heavily guarded raider compound with multiple turrets and kill all the raiders

Mission 2: Kill five mole rats

Is it always the second and fifth letter?
Not always. It's more of a real strategy. I used to just go all day guessing but lately I've been really thinking about. Look for words that have common letters like -ing and if there's no match or less than 3, you can pretty much eliminate those words that have them in it.

Man, I need ammo and I dunno where to look. I'm in
Lexington en route to that Minutemen quest
and I've really used a lot on these foes. Playing on Hard.

If you're going to use a companion, is there any reason to not use Dogmeat? AFAIK, he's the only one that scouts out items for you. Other than that, they all seem to get in the way and aren't actually very useful if you care at all about combat XP other than as being a personal stash. You don't get any XP when they steal kill. Plus, the perk that causes you to take less damage and increases your carrying weight seems like a win/win other than being alone the entire time.

Does the riffleman perk affect shotguns?

Save the game, grab the perk and see if your shotgun's listed damage raised.

Congrats on the release and sales Bethesda cannot wait to return to the wasteland tonight.

Equipping companions with missle launchers or a Fat Man can be hilarious and awesome. Also, the companion specific perks are pretty neat.

I've been rolling with Curie since I unlocked her, and that has gone some places.

is there a zoom button (PS4) or not? i need my fucking zoom. i'm angry because i'm pretty sure there isn't. huge mistake in a detailed open world game..

"Taking Independence" quest

I just finished it, and I'm level 11...it was really fucking hard. Should i even be doing these quests this early? I haven't done anything else but the Minutemen questline.

I've been trying it at level 8, but I gave up. I was doing fine and then the
Queen shows up and one shot me
lol. But yeah I definitely need to level and come back.

I'm literally on my way to buy it now. The collectors one or whatever.

Also this game, maaan this game hits every gaming endorphin possible. It's pretty insane.

And oh god don't even get me started on when I get a new PC hopefully next year...THE MODS.

I know I've been riding this game's dick hard but it's probably the best thing I've played in YEARS.

I feel a spark I haven't felt in a long time.

Are there any non-human NPC's in this game that aren't hostile?

What happened to the "hey smoothskin" Gouls and the like? The game even directly references that not all Gouls are hostile but I'm yet to see any.

I got the Collectors edition. It's really great. Didn't get it until yesterday, have had the game for a week at that point, and have been using it to make sure I don't miss magazines and such.
