Mini nukes lobbed at me from a block away is frickin BS.

Also Codsworth is a murder machine. He keeps the enemies off me and cuts them to pieces.

Btw I am playing on Hard and not seen any legendary stuff, what gives?
Is it near the Super Duper Mart? I keep trying to snipe that guy but every time I've tried I hear the whistle and then die.

I need to stay off the forums.

It's like "hmm, what can I come up with that I don't like and create a new thread about"... then a bunch of people who haven't even played the game chime in with "holy shit, you're right, it sucks!!!!!!".

Meanwhile, millions of us are actually.. you know.. playing and enjoying the game.

I know it is hard for people but sometimes you have to... you know... use your imagination. It's like if the game doesn't spoon feed it to you directly, then it suddenly is shit.

I feel like I should complain because when I go to loot a box, I don' see the animation of the character reaching in and pulling those items out. How dare Bethesda not include this. Ghost Looting totally ruining my immersion.

It absolutely has its problems. But it isn't unplayable or "awful". It will get cleaned up.

Omg THANK YOU.

People need to read the damn manual in the game and do the crafting tutorial missions. Among the other many helpful hints in the help menu.

It's all there minus a couple of things really.

I took the one on the opposite side to it in my game. You know it's the right one when you get on a turret instead of a loading screen.

Yeah I thought that should happen, but just looked again and there's only one of them there and it doesn't take me to the mission.

quick edit: Just as I keep going back and forth, another one just docked just after I loaded where you said it should be! But now I can't get in it at all... no prompt or anything ;_;

edit2: Had to reload my save to get the button prompt to appear

Btw how don't assign someone to a guard post?

And when say I store a turret I just made how do I unstore it?

I.e. I made a turret at the gas station but want to use it in Sanctuary, is this possible?

Walking allows for random stuff to happen on the way, kinda like the old wandering monster encounter tables. Especially in Bethesda games where you can have quests start while walking along. I don't do it all the time but I do like taking the long way from time to time.
For me this was one of those holdovers from old D&D that I was never a fan of. Though maybe Baldur's Gate 2 soured me on the experience and just made it feel generic.

I don't think it's bad to do every now and then but I'm just talking about always doing it, especially in cases where convenience would dictate doing something else, particularly as it relates to carrying junk. And Fallout 4 has A LOT of junk.

Anyone use the Pacify stuff yet? I feel putting 10 in CHA might of been a big waste unless there's a lot of dialogue to take advantage of.

To be fair this is the first this kind thing has been an issue in a Bethesda game since at least Oblivion. In the past they tutorialized really well, but here not so much.

I agree with that for sure. Def an oversight. Someone will release a comprehensive youtube guide in a couple days that will clear it up.

But it doesn't mean the game is now unplayable and awful.

I just think there is a lot of unnecessary overreaction to other things. I.e, the large thread about the backstory that "is thrust upon you and ruins any role playing elements". Don't like it? RP it didn't happen. RP seeing your wife/husband killing infront of you makes you go crazy and ________.

We are going to really get all up in arms because the tutorial isn't what we wanted it to be? 30 mins of a metric-shit-ton of content?

What difficulty is everyone playing at?

I started at Very Hard... and I am really enjoying it actually. It doesn't feel like it is just a complete stat stick boost. The AI feels challenging.

Just curious what your experiences are.

At the start I was having a lot of trouble! A lot!
I changed to easy and got killed again and again by raiders and a ton of molotv they were throwing at me... so I changed to very easy.

I'm much more used to the game mechanics now, and progressively increased to easy and than normal again. Just did a quite hard mission where I had to kill a legendary
glowing ghoul
that was oeverleved. It was hard by I managed using some mines! =D

God I love the way this mine just blew out this guys legs and so he sat up and started shooting at me with no legs.

Oh my god

So, how exactly do you dismiss or just leave Dogmeat in Sanctuary so you can use the Lone Wanderer perk? I'm really not sure I like having companions at all.
Lone Wanderer is so much better. At least a bit into the game. Early Dogmeat can be decent enough to distract fire, but even then he doesn't hold up more than a few seconds. Lone Wanderer has saved me countless time and the increased carry weight is just a blessing. Speaking about playing on Survial.

SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS.

I'm going out of town on a business trip all next week and planned on holing myself up in the hotel playing FO4 each night. Wifi is going to suck so I didnt even plan on using it.

I just went offline and loaded my game fine.

Has anyone actually been able to build a house in this game... A normal looking one? The tools and materials are so lackluster im wondering why they even made them.

Is there a quick way to build a wall around Sanctuary? Or do I have to really make it piece by piece?

Not sure if I'm just being dumb and missing an option somewhere, but trying to line up each and every piece is the most tedious thing ever.

I heard that you can safeguard against your Power Armor being stolen by removing the Fusion Core from it when you "park" and get out, so I'm going to make that standard practice.
I'm just quoting myself because I want this tip to be shared. Do your part to prevent Grand Theft Armor.

I just had a thought: I wonder if you can build a large building, get all of your settlers inside it, and then remove the door. That way they can't accidentally be killed by Raiders.

Accidentally worked out how to turn my torch/flashlight on and I did't even know that I had one.

For anybody who does't know yet, on the PS4 you just hold circle. For people on other platforms, it's the same button to open your Pip Boy.

Heard the familiar beeping of mines about to go off, ran away and the sound kept following me. Turns out it was a mole rat that had 2 strapped to it that was chasing me. Poor guy went out in a blaze of glory, he took dog meat (temporarily) with him.

Love all the Dogmeat love.

As a dog owner for life, he was captured so well. Audio, movement..everything.
Totally agree.

I also loved this reddit post I saw that was like. "Whenever the AI naturally does something derpy it's like, 'well yeah, he's a dog.' well-played." That's exactly how I feel. My dog does ridiculously ungraceful stuff and makes inexplicable noises quite frequently. When I read people complaining about Dogmeat being in the way or annoying them my brain is like "guys leave him alone he's a dog."

I don't think I should be but damn, I'm having a harder time with this game than Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Some of these enemies are hard lol.

Could someone tell me at what point you have to dedicate yourself to one facti
Code:
on, assuming that's what happens ala new vegas. I've reached the end of the family story and am moving onto the whole
institute
situation.

I had a freaking supermutant with a football bomb chase me and kill me, it was scary and funny at the same time.

My second day impressions are a lot better than the first, it's still just Fallout 3, but I just built a generator and a light and it made me really happy.

All right guys, made a thread to dedicate to mods/crafting and all kinds of things in Fallout that need an explanation or reocurring here.

Feel free to requote stuff from here in there. or ask questions. It'll be easier to filter them and keep track of them there.

I lost Dogmeat.

After getting Cogsworth as a companion, I told Dogmeat to wait in Sanctuary. He stayed by the Doghouse, and after leaving and coming back, he was nowhere in sight. He wasn't even at the Rocket Gas Station!

Classic Hawkian.

Where's the newbie tour of the wasteland signup?

lol, sadly, I can only provide tips from a distance in this one.

A part of me feels like Bethesda has had the technologies to implement stable, persistent massively multiplayer versions of their games for years already- but have decided to lock them in an impenetrable vault as they are too dangerous to ever release, knowing they would cause the downfall of modern society.
Power armor can be stolen??
Multiple people have complained about it on the past few pages! Beware!

Click him and choose "Talk". The option is there.

Talk to him and "dismiss." It'll give you areas to send him to. I sent his ass to the garage as soon as I could. My real-life dog whines all the time too and I only tolerate it because I love the bastard. No way I'm listening to a virtual pet do that.

Thanks, I guess I missed that you could talk to him up close.

I'll probably give Codsworth a spin later on, but going it solo is simply my preference in all games.
