Nintendo Direct coming November 12 [Over]

I mean, weren't there Kingdom Hearts fans that bought a PS3 specifically just to play the next installment in the series, and that never happened. Are those fans happy KH3 skipped an entire generation just to be on better hardware.

In all fairness, anyone that buys a console for a game that was for all intents and purposes non-existent at the time has no one to blame but themselves.

Banjo-Kazooie has forever been my dream character for Smash Bros. since the series started. Getting a Microsoft character in the game only for it to be Steve would just wreck me. lol

Because the deal is that Banjo-Kazooie's IP was acquired by Nintendo.
:P

If only... :(

I'm actually surprised by how many people want the next Zelda installment to be entirely removed from WiiU and brought over to NX.

I guess the main difference is the low Wii U install base compared to that of the PS3. Less people will feel the burn if it takes the leap??

EDIT: I wouldn't mind the game being on NX at all, but also wouldn't be dissapointed at all if it only came to Wii U, so I'm just trying to figure out how others feel about this

The difference is that the PS3 was a powerful and capable console for it's time. It had sales struggles early on but eventually sold very well. This isn't the case with the Wii U. It's under-powered and has an extremely small audience that realistically can only increase so much at this point. There are good games for the Wii U, and personally I bought the system with the hope for Zelda after E3 2014, but I'm over it. I just want the game to be as good as it can possibly be and I don't want them to be limited by hardware around a decade old tech-wise. Imagine if the next Zelda game is really what everyone is dreaming it will be. What better way to start fresh and move new consoles? I'm a big Nintendo fan and I'm done with the Wii U. If the NX starts out right then we won't have to worry about games being developed for it in the future.

Even if I'm far from a minecraft fan (lol played 2 hours and quit) adding Steve to Smash would be BIG. Doubt it would happen, but there are enough updates that I'm sure figuring out a creative move set wouldn't be a problem and he could easily adopt the Mii Costume thing as well.

They weren't happy. I certainly was not happy at the lack of KH3 on PS3, neither was my cousin or my uncle. It's why I hold some pessimistic views of Square and their delays going on forever and still don't expect KH3 any time soon.
I think that was his point (that they weren't) but I'll follow up on that by saying companies really shouldn't dick around with stuff like this. Something like KH3 would have been way more anticipated by me about five years ago when all my free time was spent hacking off and playing video games. I'm still excited but I don't have all eternity to sit here and wait for the next Zelda.

I really hope Minecraft doesn't take up the bulk of the direct tomorrow. Nintendo, your target audience knows all about the game, they don't need explanations.

Oh God, I just realized, Nintendo will probably shoehorn in amiibo support X_X

I expect at least 10 minutes devoted to minecraft.

Direct-Feed Nintendo Direct! Mario Tennis & Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival!

I like Mario Tennis and Mario Party like games, just not enough to make them a holiday purchase. I'd be excited if these games were released in like July or August when no one is releasing anything.

The thing is zelda u blew everyone away when it was revealed, graphic is not what people are complaining about when it comes to zelda U

Graphics aren't the only thing that can be held back because of low spec hardware. I think he just wants a feature rich Zelda. Especially since this is nintendo's first take on a "modern" open world game.

This is one thing that I definitely agree with.

What if...what if Minecraft was the main surprise...? I hope not. It might even get referred to as a Nindie given its history....

The WiiU is powerful enough for whatever they are cooking for Zelda. Aunoma himself said it.

The power fallacy hides the real fear the so-called 'core' gamers can't hide: the gamepad. If it sticks, Sony and Microsoft may adopt it. In their world it can't happen. It would be unbearable. Just take a look at the Steam controller thread.

Yeah its unfinished. Nintendo havent released an "ugly" game on Wii U yet really. Unless you one of those guys that dont like xenoblade face or somethin.

Xenoblade probably has some rough textures here and there. I'm on blackout so I haven't seen footage in a good while lol. A lot of Nintendo's releases have an artstyle that can get around the Wii U's limitations, but a big open world game with realistic looking textures? Even given more time in the oven I expect some rough edges in Zelda thanks to weak hardware.

Also unless the delay works a miracle Starfox is gonna be pretty ehhhh looking.

Ooh, I saw in Nate's Ultra Smash playthrough that you can buy a Sand Court and an Ice Court at least, and the different floors seen are marked as such.

Edit: Misread, checked again, they might just be floor types after all. :(

Is there going to be a Spoiler Free thread for the people who can't catch it live?

Dumb question: Does anyone know a good way to watch it spoiler free after the fact? I would just go to Nintendo's YouTube channel but they usually post trailers as it's being played live, so I'd likely spoil things just trying to find the direct.

Eh looked pretty rough at the Game Awards.

No, the footage looked rough because the footage was dog shit. It was captured off-screen with small screen real-estate, then blown up so that everyone could make out the details. It was a hot mess.

Ridiculous. Wii U's hardware has nothing to do with that. Xenoblade Chronicles X is supposedly bigger than Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Witcher 3 combined, despite being feature rich. Zelda Wii U's graphics are significantly more advanced than XCX's.

Whatever features are lacking, it would be due to the developers not putting them in, not because the hardware wouldn't allow it.

Zelda Wii U isn't going to have realistic looking textures. It's stylized, which is why some of the textures didn't look right in the off-screen footage from last year.

What else are you expecting him to say? Of course it is powerful enough for whatever they are cooking, because they are cooking it for that console. That's a trivial necessity. The Wii was also powerful enough for Skyward Sword, because they have been making Skyward Sword specifically for the Wii. That doesn't mean that the specs are not an issue. Just as the specs of the Wii very obviously limited the scale of Skyward Sword, one gigabyte of memory available to the application and a potato CPU are restrictions for any open world game design. The Wii U's specs are underpowered compared to the state of the art, and low specs limit game design.
