You can't loot the frames off of corpses, if they die in there it's practically useless. You can only loot the armor pieces and slap them on another frame, plenty of those scattered around the wasteland. I just acquired my fifth. :p

Yeah, killing someone in armor isn't enough to just put it on. You can loot the pieces and then swap them out on a chassis that you can enter (including the one you get in the first hour, plus others scattered around).

Thanks guys, time to visit a submerged vertibird.

Has the game crashing during certain missions repeatedly been mentioned. The story mission
Hunter/Hunted
keeps crashing and I can not go any further. I am at the part
where you get the courser radio frequency and am supposed to follow it.

First proper crash on ps4 right as a boss appears. Other than that i have noticed fps lagg on maybe 3-4 locations. This all happening up to lvl 15. Not as bad as I expected:-)

Still spending too much time doing pointless things in Sanctuary, it's like I don't want to leave the comfort and safety of there right now. Staying spoiler free, not sure how it's going to pan out just leaving them alone for a while with a couple turrets. I built a rudimentary fence around a two house area with a gate and some turrets, I can see myself spending a lot of time rebuilding these settlements but I must push on.

I'm not going to bother with the settlements, feels to much like fallout shelter and I wasted enough time on that.

Grenades are super strong in this game. I love using them to clear out rooms. I don't think I ever used them in 3 or NV.

On the other hand, fuck the enemy grenade and moltov spam. It's like I'm playing CoD WaW on Veteran sometimes.

The only times I've died so far are when I get hit by a grenade/molotov from an enemy I don't see and just die on the spot, even at full health. Well, except for the time I rounded a corner, got spooked by a ghoul and unloaded a shotgun blast into the explosive barrel two feet away from me. Still, it was an explosion?

Is there a way to rotate held objects? Trying to make a bar for my town and balancing bottles on shelves is making me wanna do horrible things to doge.

Also, framerate on Xbox One when you get into the downtown boston area east of Diamond City is pretty bad. Especially if you are running from 3 supermutants and a pack of raiders

I love this game.

This is very important to me, as I'm avoiding videos:

Can you change the HUD color from green to white/blue/orange like you could in previous games?

Not a spoiler but what the hell. Early in the game.

Will doing a couple of quests for the Brotherhood of Steel prevent me from joining some other faction?

Regarding Settlements; it's been bothering me all day at work that my dorm I built for Sanctuary isn't very good.

I'll get home, move the beds into the existing houses and rip it down.

Then I'm going to build a treehouse.

Has anyone successfully built a wall around the whole of sanctuary? Did you use walls, or fences? It'll be a killer for resources I would imagine. I really, really want to make a post apocalyptic castle.

That appears to be in the settings yeah. Looked like RGB sliders. Can do opacity too.

Yes. They give you RGB sliders, so you can have any color you want.

Yeah, it's janky as hell because of the uneven terrain.

so I have 6 people in Sanctuary. I built a bunch more resources and I have two radio towers yet........ I still have 6 people. How do I increase?

Also I made the mistake of trying to stick up one of them and now all she does is call me a would-be robber and has no other dialog. Says I would have to kill her...... I might. She's annoying.

Idk why GAF seems so outraged by the game, I've been having a blast. It has run much smoother than any other BGS game on console has for me.

I've only done a few quests, it definitely seems like they're pushing the player to get a glimpse of everything right off the bat. I wish I had to search a little harder for the BoS, but that's a minor grievance.

Dialog cutscenes continue to be the worst thing about the game from my limited playtime. Early impressions have me putting the FO4 over all three of their last-gen games.

Yeah, it's janky as hell because of the uneven terrain.

This is my biggest issue with the settlement system. Just build a small fenced in area is hard enough due to the weird controls, but the fact that the terrain is rarely ever even you get sections that are hovering way above the ground and others that are practically submerged.

They really needed a smart snap grid of some kind and a way for objects to orientate with the general slope of terrain.

What does it take to get ''cleared'' at various locations except to kill all enemies who are in it? I've got cleared at some of the locations, but at some other locations I do not get cleared on although I have killed all enemies there.

between the quest I cant hand in even tho my companion has the quest marker over his head, and the missing companions even tho I sent them to sanctuary, we are now in actual game breaking bugs and those I cant make any excuses for

its really bumming me out, because otherwise Im loving the game (even with all the non game-breaking jank, that im fine with).

And I cant even open the console, wtf? its supposed to be the ~ key

I need some kind of step by step guide to build a decent looking house. I can't make anything worth a damn. My 'house' is just 4 walls.

And when using prefab structures, I can't seem to select furniture or decorations while inside of it because the whole building is still highlighted and asks me if I want to stash the structure instead of letting me choose other items. Is there something I'm supposed to do to "lock" a structure down?

I would love to know how to do treehouses and such, too!

i am absolutely in love with this game, the world is outstanding - the music, the immersion, the dense urban areas, the expanses

i need to be home and playing this

i loved witcher 3 so much, one of my favorite RPGs ever, but nothing touches the bethesda exploration and immersion for me

I need some kind of step by step guide to build a decent looking house. I can't make anything worth a damn. My 'house' is just 4 walls.

I start by building the floor - I use the one on sticks or the one with a concrete base so I don't have to worry about floating, then I build a doorway wall and some steps up to it

Then connect walls to the outside, add the roof, stairs if you want another level, then repeat with more floor, walls, roof, then internal bit and finally decorate

once you get a bit more confident with it, you can start using prefab bits so you have more parts to play with and don't run out, but I found it easier to get to grips by doing it all myself

I'm spending way too much time building my settlement... lol

I have a general question about the game since I haven't done many quests yet. Are there quests/stories similar to Tenpenny Tower in this game? Like where the decisions you make can really change the outcome? All of that cool stuff is still in here right? (no spoilers please, just general answers)

I can't confirm this, but quest-related stuff you haven't encountered might prevent a location from being cleared. I killed everything in Fort Hagen pretty early in the game, but it didn't show up as "cleared" until I'd done the story mission that took place there (which opened up a different area of the base).

Also, I think there might be some kind of trigger related to killing the "boss" of a location as I've had locations show up as cleared even when there were still baddies running around.

So I've found an exploit to technically get two party members, and though it isn't very helpful (I have not been a fan of said party member) I still like traveling around in a group, and both party members react to my dialogue choices, which is nice.

During the mission,
Taking Independence, when you retake back the Castle with Preston Carvey, if you fast travel away in the lull before the game spawns the Mirelurk Queen you can take him and whatever other party member with you and he'll follow you forever until you finish the mission.

The only thing I don't like about the Settlements is the people wont help themselves.

We need more beds!! Well make some then geez. Don't need to wait for me to do it for you.

Loving the game but I stole something on accident while going up to barter with one of the vendors and now 2 of my companions hate me, I can't go back to that town without getting shot at and if I go back to my home base I get attacked by the companions..

I didn't want to kill them so I had to go back 3 hours to an old save from the night before and I had done a lot in the meantime in game.. all because I took a pencil on accident hitting buttons too fast..

Aside from the loss of time I am enjoying exploring in this game have found some interesting things.

Also I need building lessons.. I am awful at making settlements.

Not a spoiler but what the hell. Early in the game.

Will doing a couple of quests for the Brotherhood of Steel prevent me from joining some other faction?

Nope it shouldn't, you can do faction quests until a certain point in the main quest, I believe you get prompted when you actually are one sided with a faction. You can do quests from multiple factions are the same time

for fuck sake I cant finish this quest, even rolling back.

because I have the quest that starts going up to the
brotherhood airship
, Dance just triggers that part, runs off to the roof of the police station and I cant talk to him about the other quest

seriously Bathesda, I love you but fuck man...

Try getting on the Vertibird? You should be able to once you get to the Prydwen

nope didnt work, everyone gathered around and no nick or dogmeat so they are definately not in sanctuary sigh

do you know the exact command?

Hey guy, I'm not sure what part of the main story you're on, but if you're at the part where you're supposed to go to Goodneighbor to meet
Amari
then he might be waiting for you there. I just spent an hour looking for him and there he is.
