dammit, i SWEAR there was a safe that needed advanced lockpicking skill somewhere around the gift shop or Walden Pond... now that i have the skill i can't find the safe anywhere and Dogmeat ain't helping me find it :(

anyone?

i think it was to the west of Walden Pond, maybe far enough beyond that other bigger body of water so that you almost reach the boundary of the world.. i dunno. i've spent 45min searching now and i'm tired of this area, random feral ghouls scaring me all the time :( the safe was half in the ground, kind of hard to spot.. up a hill somewhere.

This is why the map needs a feature to add legends. Adding a custom marker to different places that you think have something you want to pin.

Am i missing something or is caits quest bugged?
The elevator down closes, plays muzak but then stops and the door never opens.
Help?

It might be the elevator bug. I ran into it a few times. I always quicksave before I get into an elevator. Always works for me on a second try. Its happened 3 or 4 times now.

Ive reloaded a hard save 4 times now.
Now im trying an autosave.
Will report back.

What exactly is the elevator bug though.
Just what im describing?

There's insane, and then there's insane:

I am taking my sweet ass time and just completed all the first settle tasks and built a little hut and stuff........... That will take forever as clunky as it is on console if it's even possible.

The more I play and here about coming upgrades I am completely questioning my choice of PS4 for this game.

I need a map guide, feels like I'm running in circles. I wish it showed unmarked locations in the pip boy.

You can always set a custom marker to lead you to the direction you want to go.

The game would benefit from binoculars that you can use and mark places like MGSV.

For me yes. I get into an elevator and you see the lights on the wall like its going up or down then it just stops and you cant get out and have to quit.

I saw it from a distance yesterday, but ran into some trouble and had to run for my life, tried retracing my steps but I couldn't find it anymore.
Can anyone tell me where I can find this building?

Looks like
The Lonely Chapel. Head south from Sanctuary, past Abernathy Farm, past the dam and pond and you should find it just before the huge expressway.

After about 15 hours I think I'm gonna bail. Maybe I'm just not up for this type of game at the moment, but this is honestly one of the most boring games I've playing in a long, long time. The story, the gameplay, the locations, the characters, the dialogue...nothing has caught my interest in the slightest.

As clunky as it is on CONSOLE?! Oh man, you have no idea how horrible the base-building controls are on PC with M&KB.

Rotating with the triggers is SO much better than the left and right mouse buttons, because at least with the triggers you can control the speed!

Everything was going fine until i got hit with a BUG. I cant get my gun out and shoot neither can i throw grenades or even punch people so I'm basically screwed. This is on the ps4 btw and did anyone come across this bug and any way to solve it?

I was hit by the invisible gun/can't access pipboy bug/glitch earlier this morning. Loaded up an old save and all was fine. I have no idea what triggered it but fuck was I terrified until I realized I had about 30 old saves to choose from.

No more grenades during VATS? :(

Another thing i really did not want them to change are the dialogues. I always loved to just choose them all and read it all. It definitely did not need to be simplified.

Holy shit, and here I am spending hours and have a shitty shack with one bulb rofl

Also spend like 2 hours in Federal Ration Stockpile (interior). This world is dense man. 14 hours have flew by.

I was struggling to make a tiny little structure last night. This shit puts me to shame. Good lord.

What the hell? So Dogmeat can pretty much unlock doors? I was at
The Covenant and Dogmeat opened the locked house for me.
I couldn't get out when another NPC closed the door and he kept telling me to leave haha. I had to wait for Dogmeat to open the door again.

Yep. He can also get you the gun that is locked in the Vault where you start the game. Its a really nice gun.

Dogmeat! Fetch Item, will do the trick :)

Unfortunately he opens regular doors randomly as well. Why am I getting shot from the side? Oh thanks dogmeat.

Question for peeps that are far into the game:

How does the world map compare to other open world games? I'm 10 hours in and it feels like a lot of the world has the same type of feel without much variety in locale. I'm still loving the game but is there much to look forward to as far as different feeling areas?

So, JoeBoy's Pro & Con for today:

Pro - Settlement Building

First off, its completely optional so people can ignore it. Always a plus. But should you decide to use it...

And what makes it even more brilliant than simple construction is how all the junk and vendor fodder suddenly has maddening purpose (more adhesive anyone?). People's time is being annihilated by this feature of the game, and they haven't even gotten going on the main quest.

And this lightly touching the management side of assigning tasks to settlers, growing crops, working power networks, etc. I doubt this feature could translate well to Elder Scrolls, with the exception of building a player's home piece-by-piece. Which they BETTER do. The settlement feature suits the world of Fallout perfectly and I hope they expand on it more.

Con - UI

3-4 years of SkyUI and this is the best Bethesda can do? Granted, now you get some sorting options, but it is still clunky, obtrusive, unresponsive, and difficult to get to the items you want to use. Same goes for other gameplay mechanics too like trading, but a bad one in particular is for that settlement building. No clipping allowed at all, no way to manage settlers' assignments well, a map that is too small and can't take custom waypoints. Its just a mess as it is. Some of it is the artificial PipBoy requirements they put on themselves, but Bethesda really needs to start making some strides in improving the interface.

Say what now? This actually works? I can just go back to vault 111 and get Dogmeat to open that master lock gun case?

Yup. If he doesn't go down the elevator. just try a few times. he'll eventually go there. Pont him to go kinda inside the cage, ask him to fetch an item and he'll get the gun. ALSO! make sure you ask him to trade as he holds 200 ammo for the gun.

Epic gun!

I can! It's a church on the upper-left side of the map (below the Sanctuary area), that has an hatch door entrance into a Federal Ration Stockpile that's full of Raiders that I handily slaughtered.
Edit: Image found.

I hope they patch in some kind of locator for companions. Shouldn't have to sprint around some bigass settlement searching high and low for something that may or may not be there.

So will I ever eventually get more choices of the different kind of walls/furniture etc to build as I progress through the game?

I see people with some big concrete looking buildings but I don't seem to have that kinda choice for my game yet.

Stupid corvega factory been wondering around for like an hour trying to finish
the first step
, also it must have had a 100 or so raiders outside an in.

Sweet. Ill try that when I get home, thanks.

Anyone been to Federal Ration Stockpile Interior?

Guide says there are two
mini nukes
there but I only can find one. If you've been there how many did you find?

Is it the quest where you have to
heal her
? (Companion quest spoiler)

I got the same bug. She just lies on the floor, right? Try quick travel before entering the elevator. That worked for me.

Thats the one.
I cant even enter the vault.
the elevator down wont work.
It closes.
Lights flicker.
Muzak playes.
then muzak stops and doors never opened and im trapped inside it and forced to reload.
Ill still try the travel.
God this sucks

Agreed. To me, the base building is a great concept with piss poor execution. It just feels like it didn't get nearly enough time and love during development. It feels about halfway done, both in terms of features and polish.

Woah that never happenend in my game, sorry. Did you try reloading an old save (auto save or quick save)?

between settlement building and the sheer amount of shit there is to see and do in this game...

it's not the greatest game I've ever played, but it's one of the most consistently engaging and fun experiences I've ever had with a game, and it'll probably be my most played single player game ever before the end of this year even hits.

This game man

I think a a questline is broken for me.

Qurtermastery
I've gone to recover the Reflex Capcotor at Rocky Narrows Park about five times now. Get the same reward every time and she just assigns the same mission again. Is it broken?

Melee is hilarious. The only thing that's annoying are those damn turrets and enemies that shoot from a place that's not easily accessible, like a tower.

How the fuck do you use a critical in VATS with the keyboard? It says space bar but that just makes me jump.

You have to press the space bar during the actual execution.

Uuuh, how am I supposed to complete the mission
The lost patrol
if I have
Danse
as a companion? There's no dialogue option for talking to him at the end???

Also, will I ever get some decent looking armor if I don't use power armor? Or will will I keep looking like I did after meeting my first group of raiders for the entire game?
