His daughter was missing and clearly in danger. Killing monsters for 200 coins shouldn't really be his priority.
It's nitpicky but I just hate urgency in open world games.

Oh you meant in terms of the main plot. Yea that's understandable. However, Ciri can handle herself and Geralt is already used to her being missing. Him taking time out to do a few jobs isn't out of reach for him to do. But if you're doing all those jobs in the third act of the game then it could be very off putting. That's why I think CDPR sort of did the whole "Save now because you are reaching the point of no return" at the end of the first act because they sort of wanted you to do all that side stuff in the first act. That's how I see it anyways.

18 hours in and I still haven't entered Diamond City.
I keep getting sidetracked with quests. Spent too much time doing that quest (Im playing on hard) of finding the Paladins for Danse.

By the way, those Radiant quests that are given by the other BoS members, they keep on repeating right?

Am I just shitty at this game? I am level 20 and still struggling. Unless I am around diamond city or Sanctuary most enemies kick my ass. It also doesn't help I can't find good energy weapons.

It happens automatically when you build.

Wait, what? Then what is the point of dropping a bunch of trash on the ground to dissasemble it?

Relatively early on (of course it depends on whether or not you took just a tiny detour during one of the earliest quests) you get one of the better (best?) energy weapons in the game. Plus, if you took the gun modding and science perk, you can make it pretty powerful for the first half of the game. What difficutly are you playing on? Normal was too easy, so I started playing on Hard. The main issue with that isn't my damage, but enemy damage and my armor is only sitting at 35/35.

Lol. I get excited every time I see one of those blue bottles.

I'm about 20 hours in now, and I love this game. I haven't even started Tomb Raider once.

I really like the changes to the special/perk system.

There's no point as far as I can tell.

Man, Idiot Savant proccing when you turn in a quest is amazing (guessing it will get nerfed). Got almost 2 levels from having rank 2 proc when turning in a quest.

I think they did alright with it, but it's something that feels unavoidable. They placed a ton of stock into finding Ciri, and given the power of the Wild Hunt it was actually REALLY urgent to figure out what was happening.

Still became a gwent master instead.

Anywhere to find decent weapons and stimpacks early on? Level 8 and just got to Diamond City after finishing Corverga factory.

wow. have you tried modding weapons and armor?

I'm confused on modding shit. How do you do that? I see all taht like steel, and shit but, where do i find it?

Man, Blitz is such a gamechanger. Get that ASAP if you are playing any kind of melee, it is basically shadowstep. Rank 2 of this shit is going to be bananas.

You get
a great laser rifle
from a quest that starts right around Corvega.
You need to simply
walk around the overpass until you pickup a radio signal (listen to it) and go from there.
About 30 minutes later you get a fairy strong weapon.

wow. have you tried modding weapons and armor?

I have tried but my Energy weapon mods perk is only level 2 and no armor mod perk (I guess I should look into changing that). It doesn't help I have 4 settlements to defend and my resources keep draining. I am probably just going to spend a chunk of today just clearing out my resources. I am also about to get Scrapping level 2 son which helps a TON.

I'm trying to stay out of this thread due to spoilers. If someone could answer this question in a PM that would be greatly appreciated.

I am 25 hours in and aligned with both
the railroad
and
the brotherhood
. Obviously their mindsets don't match up but I want XP from both. Will this screw me over down the road?

Which quest is this? I have done Corvega. Is it the
Cambridge Police Station?

Just got the Armorer perk, and realized that I don't have an armor workbench in Sanctuary which I was kind of making my "home base" with all my materials. Now it seems I have to dump a whole bunch of points into some perk in order to build one.

Any way around this? Or is there a spot you guys recommend as the best home base?

Go to a weapons/armor workbench at a settlement like Sanctuary or Red Rocket. You can use materials to add damage/range/etc and personalize your weapons.

It's interesting to me how many different paths you can take in this game. Literally all but two of my perks have been for modding/creating and I'm basically turning my character into a mad inventor who just customizes all her shit. It's made the game really fun to me.

Of course I've named all my favorite weapons. There's Old Reliable (pistol), The Interrogator (sawed off shotgun), Long Distance Caller (sniper rifle), Ratatat (armor piercing sub machine gun), and Steve (laser rifle). I just got my first legendary weapon which is a rifle that does radiation damage on top of the usual, can't wait to mod it and kick ass with it, although I need a name for it...

To get modding stuff you can disassemble weapons, armor, or junk items. It's best to go to a settlement that has weapon and armor stands, dump all your junk at a workbench. Then when you go to a crafting bench it will automatically disassemble what you need. You'll have to disassemble weapons and armor manually at their respective benches though. You can also go into building mode in a settlement and scrap a ton of shit around there. It's a good source of steel and wood.

The red rocket nearby has every type of work bench I believe.

can someone confirm that there are vaults in this game that we can explore other than 111?

and im talking about vaults that the story might not lead you into, random, non story related explorable vaults

a simple spoiler tagged yes or no will do - dont need to know how many or details or whatever, just really loved exploring them in the others and havent seen any yet

yeah. careful though, the beginning of that mission can be a pain in the ass!

there's an armor workbench next to the Power Armor rack in the house with the workshop station and weapon workbench in Sanctuary. it's just to the side on the actual ground (not on the house foundation itself) so you might be missing it. if you scrapped it or it's bugged, just build another armor workbench.

my question: stealth is supposed to be much harder in this game right? you no longer actively see pips on your radar/compass for creatures/enemies anymore. in FO3 if you just kept pumping Perception, you'd be able to know someone was nearby from a pretty sizeable distance. i realize that's kind of a balance issue, but being a stealthy player, it's kind of annoying rounding a corner and being blindsided by something horrific. or am i missing something?

yeah. careful though, the beginning of that mission can be a pain in the ass!
that's probably been one of my favorite quests so far.
when you're fighting in the factory against the synths and it's just this chaos of red and blue lasers, it felt like G.I. Joe or something. really fun mission.

Is it possible to take a mod from one weapon to another at the workbench? If so I can't figure out how to do it! I want to move a night vision scope from a sniper I picked up to the sniper I crafted.

I don't think it's a spoiler to say a major feature of the series is in this game also. Of course there are other vaults.

I love the different kinds of chems you can make. Me wish I'd put more points into endurance so I'd have a shot at getting the perk that makes you immune to addiction. There really isn't a dump stat in this game.

That I do not know. I believe there must be some way to remove mods as I've had a bunch of mods just sitting in my inventory but I'm not sure how they got there. Maybe disassembling the weapon saved the mod? I'm just not sure.

Man, Blitz is such a gamechanger. Get that ASAP if you are playing any kind of melee, it is basically shadowstep. Rank 2 of this shit is going to be bananas.

I actually feel like Melee would be pretty fun in this game looking at some of the perks and unique weapons I've picked up. Never even considered it in previous Fallout games.

After complaining about not seeing any Legendary mobs I run into 3 while playing last night! I think it may be level based when they start to show up. Also, them "mutating" just seems to refill their HP

none of them dropped anything truly amazing, though a chest piece I got was nice.

So, I'm busing building walls around Sanctuary when I get a message that a turret has been damaged. We are under attack!

I don;t see any action at the bridge so I run to my house (where I also put turrets) and almost immediatly get gang banged by raiders. Reload!

No attack comes but a Settler tells me that they are being harrassed by Raiders! I track them down and kill them all. 2 Legendary Raiders where in this group!

After building up the walls at Sanctuary, I decide to try to take on the Super Mutant infested Water Plant again, this time in Power Armor!

The last mob to kill outside the plant turns out to be a Legendary Super Mutant. Uh oh! Luckily he gets stuck in some bridge due to bad patching and he cant really attack me. So I plink away at him till he died.

Oh and while I was heading to the plant I found a body with a note that activated a quest. Something like "Find the hidden cap stash" or something like that. Unfortunatly a suicide bomber got me and when I reloaded the body/quest wasn't there.

I've found far more grognak the barbarian comics than any other type. I'd have been hyped as hell for them if I used melee. Maybe next time.

How do I get the damn dog to stop following me? I have the alone Warrior perk, but the dog won't leave me alone!

Talk to him and tell him.

Thank god for noclip. Would have missed a super special weapon without it!
I was in the city and it sounded like a ship flew overhead, but the high buildings prevented me from seeing it at all. So I reloaded the checkpoint and flew directly up to see its trajectory. :p

This has probably beend asked a thousand times but, where can I find a ton of aluminum? Adhesive hasn't been too bad as every one of those red toolboxes seems to contain Duct Tape or Wonderglue.

Yeah, I maxed out Chem Resistance so I could slam needles with impunity. My melee juicer is at level 24 and even on Survival is tearing up the wasteland.

I think it takes you out of stealth though

Negative, I use it to land sneak attacks on dudes out in the open from angles they can't see. Also sometimes to straight up teleport to a higher floor, which is such a boon for melee. Getting longer distance and bonus damage for distance traveled at rank 2 is going to be amazing.

Have you been picking up the TV Dinner Trays and Surgical Trays? They have a lot of aluminum per.
