Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Sorry if it has been asked but I just started the game.

When you get these reqs with reskinned weapons do they actually have different attributes or are they just cosmetic? I got a req for a battle rifle with this same skin and it just seems like a regular battle rifle

Anything that has a special name is a legendary weapon and has special attributes. Fires 3 shots, no recoil, no descope, no charge up, one hit kill etc. It varies. Anything that has 3 stars as a legendary weapon is a mythic weapon and super rare.

You could have just gotten a BR skin and not a legendary battle rifle. I don't think there are any battle rifles that are legendary. Just normal, sentinel and Longshot, and each has different things like silencer, bayonet, kinetic damage etc.

KSI was the running joke even during Halo 2 lol.

Heh

I remember seeing them often in the Halo 2 clan playlist. I don't remember them being that much of a problem, but they obviously outlasted our Penny Arcade clan so good on them.

Yup. The first time I was invited was when I played against a full team of KSI guys in Halo 3 BTB and our team won. They are always trying to grab the best players for their needs, but I'm not a fan of these mass clans, but they also don't bother me. I just find it funny, that they are still going.

It states as such, but I dunno, it feels 'stronger' somehow.

Well it's immensely satisfying to straight-up disintegrate someone when you kill them, too. I end up just sticking with my lvl4 BR with those rounds even though there are higher req options later on because I can't really feel much of a difference with the longer effective range/better ADS scope/less recoil ones.

Speaking of which, I really want my Recon AR with kinetic bolts, because my Longshot variant probably just gets me killed more than it helps me.

Yes, these weapons are variants and have special features. For instance, a battle rifle might come with kinetic bolts that cause headshots to disintegrate opponents like a Forerunner weapon would. The weapons description should tell you about it's specific features.

Cool thanks. Ill turn on my system and read the description. Don't know how I didn't notice it right away.

Ugh, go to play my usual Warzone with the rules that if I lose three times I turn off game for the day because I get annoyed easily in loss-streaks...2 losses in a row so far.

Now the fun begins!

I think the holy grail of matchmaking is an algorithm to manage loss streaks.

Like if you lose two or three in a row it gives you a cakewalk to get your confidence up.

Also, I'm not sure if this is already done, but would love to see them prioritize randos vs randos and groups vs groups.

The reality is that organized teams demolish random groups, so it can get pretty frustrating to play for an hour and just get wrecked math after match.

Haha man, you need a better way to determine how long you play... Typically winning in Warzone has nothing to do with how you perform individually...

How about basing it on your KDA or something?

Yeah if I'm on a bad streak I usually just give up. It itches me the same way when I lost in SCII or now with DotA... far better to walk it off and do something else rather than get discouraged. Also I keep my headset off because if there's not a party to joke around with I'd probably be more likely to just be a dick to teammates for no reason, and you never wanna' be that guy.

Any word on a Social playlist yet? I want to play Halo, but I'm not stepping foot into the arena by myself.

343 haven't said anything officially about it, but I'm sure they know we want one. The problem stems from the fact they want to funnel people into Warzon because that's where they make money.

I noticed this too. You can easily tell when you're playing against an organized Fireteam in Slayer -- the Spartans stick closely together and absolutely wreck non-teamed players.

343 should really, really change the matchmaking algorithm to compensate for this, because it makes the game far less enjoyable to play for people who like to jump into a game without a Fireteam.

If you don't care about ranks why not? I have found Halo 5's ranking has produced some of the most fun games in recent memory. They'll always be a few stinkers here and there but on the whole it's been a blast. I play 99% solo.

question: am I the only one who is completely irritated by the size of the radar now?

Troll?

Agreed. Last night I finally played solo and my matches were incredible close (I'm talking losing by 1 kill) two games in a row, with different teams. Ranks work, people. They balance teams out. So good job Frankie.

I do care about my rank though. And I'm in at least diamond for most playlists, so I'm generally matched against good people. Also, I don't want to bring a team down in the arena when I just want to fuck around. I don't enjoy getting teammates that go 3-12 when I'm playing seriously, so I don't want to potentially ruin somebody else's experience because I'm fucking around and they are trying very hard to improve their rank.

Do we actually know if Forge will allow us to place some of the Legendary weapons or any of the REQ weapons at all?

I'd love to see maps where the SPNKR or the Nornfang is the power weapon on the map, but even simple things like placing a Sentinel BR on the map.

IIRC, no REQ weapons in Forge.

I'm okay with that, mostly, but I would like to see any weapon that has a unique model incorporated. Prophet's Bane, SPNKR, etc.

no not troll, i'm just genuinely curious as to why you think its good now?

I'll be honest, it's probably just still a period of adjustment for me

Ah I see. I was under the impression you held off on going into Arena entirely. You just want a social playlist. Carry on. :)

Such a stupid oversight. Can you imagine what kind of custom games you could make with the REQ weapons and vehicles? Snow maps using tundra vehicles, gametypes where people are given the special legendary variants of weapons. Imagine their blood gulch map where everyone is starting off with the CE legendary magnum?

Apparently Karl mentioned that you can't even turn off secondary weapons in custom games? So no snipers only etc. Or magnum only starts.

Financially, it wouldn't be a good move for 343 - they need people playing Warzone.

Yeah, but my KDA is like 1 always anyway haha.

The 3-In-A-Row Limit lets me feel like i've only spent 1 Hour on a losing team.

Also...losing 3 times in a row is a real Performance-Killer for me.

sigh, one step forward and two steps back always with forge.

Yeah, seems that way. SWAT is a thing, tho, so it's clearly possible, just not visible atm.

And it's pretty clear that the reason they don't allow them in Customs (and eventually Forge) is so that people have to get them through the REQ system. If you can play with Whiplash to your heart's content, why grind out packs for it? Allowing unique models is a good compromise, IMO.

Them's the breaks.

sigh, one step forward and two steps back always with forge.

From what we've seen of it, and what Nokyard's described, it's more like 10 steps forward 2 steps back.

There's a lot of forward movement going on, is what I'm saying.

I've never seen a team capture the spire in warzone assault...

I keep giving this game mode a chance but I always come away feeling that it's extremely unbalanced. Almost always an easy win if I defend... Almost always a loss when I'm on the assaulting team.

Disappointing... Just because these are REQ weapons, doesn't mean that they have to be locked away from Forge.

Speaking of the Prophets Bane. Why was it aactually removed from Truth? It was in the Beta and now it's replaced by the normal Energy Sword. Why not use the new designed weapons?

Also everything in this post... Especially the bolded part.

How would that even hurt them? It's not like people will stop playing Warzone, because 1 Forge maps contains a coupple of REQ weapons/vehicles.

Really? I think that Spire is one of the tougher ones to hold. Get somebody up top, get a team around the back to cut off reinforcements, set up a few people pinging exposed peeps at range, rush. Done.

Yea, I think I've won more as the assaulting team than defending.

wtf really?

How could this not be in the game

Every game I've played whether attacking or defending the defending team just holds the top of the spire with ease. Getting someone up top from the attacking team never works in the games I've played because they're at such a disadvantage fighting from the low ground to begin with.

Prophet's bane isn't the same as it was in the beta.

According to the description for Prophet's Bane, ADS using it triggers active camo and also makes the swords swipes wider and able to hit multiple people at once.

While this sounds amazing to me, I can imagine the outrage of it being on Truth in default arena matches would be staggering.
