I absolutely despise the companion system in this game. I finally found my damn dog, and now I want to use Piper for a few missions and she's gone MIA at Red Rocket.

Ugh.

I don't use unmodded companions. All they do is get in the way. I'll give them a go when you can easily turn them into passive pack mules.

they do, but the legendary gear is randomized and most of it sucks

I literally got a wooden plank last night that does barely any damage, but it's perk is that it does 50% more damage to robots.

Codsworth flame and chainsaw attack is superior imo. And really good against Ghouls and swamp flyes so i always prefer him.

Got my first bugged quest.

I was supposed to rescue a kidnapped guy for a settlement, when I got there he was dead. Can't advance the quest in any way. Great.

Playing on PC by chance? If so pull up the console (` or the tilde key), click your mouse on dead guy's corpse and type 'resurrect' and it'll bring him back to life.

Got a question about Preston. You meet him right at the beginning so I'm assuming this isn't spoilerish. Is there something I need to do to make him talk to me? I did all the random stuff at Sanctuary for the other guy (don't remember his name), and when I do all the basic stuff, he tells me he doesn't need anything else and that Preston might need something. Every time I see him, I try to talk to him and he tells me something about keeping my gun clean and he keeps walking, never giving me any other options. Is he glitched or something? I remember when the old lady asked about getting some drugs, I told her I'd keep a lookout for some, and I got the message saying Preston didn't like that. I also didn't walk all the way back to Sanctuary with them when I met them, and just ran ahead. From what I've seen online, he should be my companion now?

Is it me or are companions not as reactive in this game during a fight?

I currently have Preston as a companion and during fights he fails to attack groups of ghouls attacking me. I'm able to command him to attack a ghoul but that's the only time he takes action unless they start attacking him.

Yep, you have to finish this quest. You actually already talked to him to get that quest. It's a bit confusing because Surges or whatever his name still says Preston wants to talk to you.

I can't kill the Mirelurk Queen. All the NPCs die along with other Mirelurks just chasing me constantly. I cant even seem to get away to leave it for now it just follows me.

I stole the Fat Man from the weapons shop in Goodneighbor and lit her up with it. There's only one mini nuke in the store but it basically takes half her health down.

I've never had issues leaving my power armor in racks,

Speaking of which....

This is really petty issue I have but, in the main menu you see Power Armor in a rack. It is attached with chains.

I get Power Armor back to my rack in Sanctuary early on and go to put it in the rack.. and it just magically appears in the stand... just standing there sans chains.

What is the point of having the rack if you don't need the rack to actually do anything? lol


Also- if you look at the Main Menu screen.. it looks like weapons are mounted on the wooden board in the back ground. I couldn't do that in the game. Is there a way to do this? I ended up crafting a cool looking box to put ammo in and laid the chain gun ontop of it and positioned it in a stylistic way.

Looked backed and I didnt see this mentioned but in hacking if you select a configuration enclosed in (),[],{} you either get a dud removed or your tries reset. For example [#:&!$] if you hover over it and it highlights in a block it should be good to go. Takes some stress out of hacking.

The dog doesn't count as a companion, so the Lone Wanderer's perks are still active with him by your side.

Well guess that's the next perk I'm taking. Has anyone given the dog a teddy bear yet?

She's wearing the BOS Officers Uniform. I found it off a glitched out dead Brotherhood Officer, he was just out in the world getting mauled by a savage death claw so I took his stuff and bolted. I'm not sure if you're supposed to get these under normal circumstances.

I've been playing on Hard and I'm like 30+ hours in now and around lvl 32 and I've been coming across Legendary enemies a long time now. Probably since level 12 or so. I must have almost two dozen legendary weapons and items now, if not more. There's pretty much a Legendary enemy in every major encounter I have. Surprised some people are struggling to find any.
