If I want to put a suppressor on my pistol but my INT isn't high enough for the gun nut perk, is there anywhere to buy mods or specifically modded weapons? Or am I gonna have to use a perk point to boost my INT and then get gun nut?

You can find suppressor on guns. Just take them off at the work bench and put it on another. The stats requirement are for the crafting.

What are you guys using as your main settlement? Sanctuary seems a bit too big and open for my tastes. Looking for something that's already contained.

Hangman's alley is the smallest one so far and it's already between two gates.

The very first thing I did in the game was build a wall around Sanctuary. I felt it was too big so I cut off about half the houses with walls. The community is much more contained now.

I may choose another location as my main if I find a settlement I like later in the game.

fuck I didn't know I needed Local Leader to share resources, and I only have 1 point in charisma. it's so fucking annoying that you need to carry the resources from one settlement to the other if you don't have that perk.

As soon as I figured that out, I got it as soon as I could, lol. It makes it so much easier to do multiple settlements.

So this happened:

How do I turn in the quest now? Please don't say this is my only answer:

I'm just about 20 hours in and it occurred to me that I've not used my power armor at all since I first got it and then came back to Sanctuary and got out of it. The whole idea of having to manage power cores is keeping me from using it. I feel like I'm doing that thing where you get a cool weapon in a game but you want to save it until you need it, but then never end up using it. What happens if I get caught out with a dead power core in the wasteland? Are people using them all the time or just for harder fights or what?

I admit I've been spending way too much time building/ decorating my shack.
Anyone else having a big problem with stuff falling through what they were left on, shifting axes and then not resetting and becoming worthless as decoration?

I'm still super early but I like how flat and open the starlight diner area is yet still has two cool landmarks (the other being the giant wall). I'm going to at least experiment with building at this place if not shift it as my main settlement for a while.

Is there actually a way to make a place your main settlement in options? Does it do anything?

Nooo

Or build a bed instead. Gotcha, though I wish mine somehow survived the apocalypse and 200 years of sitting around.

Either that or find a chair to sit in and wait for an hour, yeah. There may already be chairs that you can sit in somewhere, I don't remember.

Ok might as well tell everyone this since it screwed me over, but the mission Kidnapping at Abernathy Farm IS TIME SENSITIVE. If you don't do it, she will die.

How do I know? Because after doing fun missions, I went back to where that farm place is and was told that i failed the quest.

So DO THE QUEST IMMEDIATELY!!

My god. Uh, so
the Castle quest... HOLY CRAP. BRING YOUR POWER SUIT!! or an insane weapon
. Thank god I brought the former.

Have to admit, definitely the most epic thing in the whole game so far.

Did that same quest an hour ago and as luck would have it
I shot at the boss in VATS did 2% of it's health and The Mysterious Stranger ONE SHOTS her. Felt SO GOOD.

Well shit, bought the game digitally tonight. I never played a fallout game before, only watched my younger brother play the shit out of 3 back in the day. My wife insisted I buy it, so who am I to argue?

Hahaha. I'm playing on Survival mode with a decidedly shitty build, and I had to walk the fuck away from that quest halfway through the battle and come back later to even stand a chance. On Survival mode, just one
blast of that green poison
is enough to one shot me while I'm in Power Armor. I had to use the
Mirelurk Hatchlings
to build up crit and once it was all said and done it took me

2 critical Mini Nukes
like 6 or 7 critical missiles
about 300 .45 rounds

and three of my Fusion Cores.
lucky there's like a billion of them in the castle

Good fucking GOD. You lucky little shit.

I feel like a fucking idiot for assuming that Luck and Charisma were dump stats this time around.

I'm level 15. 30 hours in.

I'm just glad I had the good sense to pour my last four level ups into ranking up my Luck so I can get in on some of that sweet, sweet Idiot Savant action.

I honestly dont think they matter. Those settlement quests repeat themselves over and over again. I have been doing them for hours and was not aware until I started seeing the same ones pop up again and again. Like literally the same kidnap quests are popping up. Same locations, same people get kidnapped, enemies spawn again in the area. Its actually kind of annoying. I am not sure if those people give quests or anything later, but I am just going to not do any of those anymore.

I honestly dont care about any of the settlement crap anymore, I hope they all die. Bringing down the game a lot for me

That's the one with the
mirelurk queen
?

I ended up placing a pile of 8 land mines (with level 2 explosives perk!) and getting her to walk onto it. Took most of her HP all at once. Playing on Hard, btw.

Mysterious Stranger is the hypest thing in the game. I'm literally cheering him on from my couch when I see him appear.

Wait, what? How do you take a mod off of a gun?

They really don't explain enough of the crafting in this game.

Choose the gun with the mod you want to remove at the weapon bench. Choose the mod category with the mod you want and craft the basic mod in that category. The mod you want will go into your inventory and will be replaced with the basic stuff you just made. To equip it just do the same as crafting but instead of build the option will be to equip it.

Yeah did the same. Never had to use the power armor so far except at the beginning when you are forced too.

So I think I lost Nick? Sent him back to Sanctuary, and now when I go there, I can't find him. I walked around and checked all the buildings and rang the bell to call everyone. Is there a specific place he normally hangs out?

So what's everyone's favorite gun so far?

Mine is easily Overseer's Guardian. That thing is straight OP. Rips through anything that gets in front of it.

Not really messing with guns, but my go-to melee weapon is a Heated Sledge (modded Super Sledge). Right now on Survival very little can handle a Blitz-powered sneak opener, and I don't even have stuff like Ninja or Better Criticals (or anything below that in LCK).

Has anyone come across a unique Super Sledge? Or any variant of Ripper?

I will cosign this. I modded it into a single shot marksman rifle with a tactical sight and long nose barrel. It's so strong I considered bumping the difficulty up

Yeah I ended up going with a Luck based character and it's pretty great. I can stock up to 3 criticals (that do double damage at this point) and have a higher chance of Stranger coming in to wreck shop. Only problem is my Endurance is garbage right now, haha.

I love how Valentine openly talks about him whenever he appears. "THE STRANGER SLIPPED RIGHT THROUGH OUR FINGERS!"

Over 30 hours in and roughly 40% of that time has been spent on managing my settlements. I have a huge freaking farm in Sanctuary. I fortified the hell out of that place too. That and the (location spoiler)
Minutemen fort
.

the Castle quest... HOLY CRAP. BRING YOUR POWER SUIT!! or an insane weapon

As soon as he gave me that mission, I knew I was gonna need my Power Suit. Hell, I even went as far as having Cait, my companion at the time, wear one herself.

Have to admit, definitely the most epic thing in the whole game so far
I agree.
As soon as I got done destroying some eggs and saw the notification for the Queen's arrival, I was like "Queen? What Queen?" only to then freak out after turning around and seeing that huge bitch right in front of me.

Just played few hours so far, as usual these games seem pretty overwhelming at first.

Should I always be using "store all junk" in crafting-places? Does everything get shared across all different crafting stations, even in different locations? I got overencumbered pretty fast, how selective should I be in picking up junk?

Also is there any point in dismantling stuff yourself or is that done automatically if you need resources?

aaaand the Power Armor.. how do I handle that? I have one standing in the Red Rocket place now. Will it stay there forever?

Also have no idea how to build my character. Kinda going for a stealth-character but not sure if that's useless or not. Have not understood the leveling system quite yet..

My buddy and I got on teamspeak when the game came out (in New Zealand lol) and made builds together. I went with a melee and agility focused character with like no endurance (...) and he went with a pretty sloppy sniper build I put together for him thinking I knew what the fuck I was talking about.

Well, he started his game over last night and re-specced Luck and Agility for a crit sneak character. He's leveling up like he's on crack and he's swimming in caps and the coolest loot. I'm so jelly

so, can we join all the clan ?
or should we choose one ?

i just finished my first mission with danse and asked me to join his clan.. (brotherhood of steel)

Anyone do Cait's unique mission
in that vault all the way at the bottom of the map? How the FUCK do I kill those assaultbots?

I want to see her story through but I keep getting absolutely destroyed by those assault bots. It's weird because the gunners they're with are easy as hell.
I did it a few hours ago.

Went in with both me and Cait having Power Suits. We wrecked shit. Came across 4 Legendary dudes (one outside the vault and 3 inside).
