I avoided shotguns for a long time but when I finally started using one, omg so much fun. Nothing as good as blowing off a foot in a ghoul with 1 shot to have them become the easiest things to handle

Well I guess I ran into a game breaking bug. So the Battle of Bunker Hill:

I went in with the Coarser siding with the Institute, got to the synths and told them they are free to go. The Coarser turns on me so I kill him and then the synths give me no dialogue options, all they say is that they will leave once I am gone....except they don't do that for some reason.

And I can't go see Father because for some reason he is in a ruined CIT building now instead of the Institute and he is behind a door that is closed.

So since I can't deactivate the synths and they don't wanna leave, the only option I have is to kill them to progress the story. And that would mean siding with the Brotherhood, which I don't wanna do.

It's weird watching a Let's Play and the person just speeds through the vault, not learning any of the combat or reading any of the terminal information. They even missed the game tape.

I read everything but missed the game tape...where is it?

Damn i didn't expect Fallout 4 to be almost a survival horror game in hard, everything is kicking my ass and i'm low on ammo which btw is not cheap. So brutal

You will miss out on an epic mission if you don't side with the BoS, but don't you have an older save? Also, I had trouble finding Father as well in CIT but I found an alternate route that took me to the roof.

Terminal in the cafeteria. You can play it on the computer and eject the tape to play later.

Survival was rough until I reached about level 10. It got a lot easier.

And then I found a nice pond in Boston and thought I'd go for a swim. The fear is back.

All right. Just finished my list of perks and spending points up until level 50. Agility and Luck will end up being my two highest S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s

Late game [lvl 40] I'll be spending points basically almost exclusively in grim reapers sprint and critical banker lol.

I never found a place prior to level 50 to spend either in lone wanderer or something similar, but I actually enjoy having a companion with me to add comments to what I do and the occasional mission. Plus once I'm done with Deacon I only have to get one more companion to max like level [the super mutant i've yet to find]. Deacon gives me a permanent companion perk of either better sneak damage or better sneak, and the super mutant i could swear gave me more melee. Once I'm done with the super mutant I'll likely start bringing my character's wife with me again as she enjoys when I ask for more money and I'm a sassy asshole.

Thanks for the tip on the blitz to the two/three GAFers who mentioned it. My character should be a stealthy V.A.T.S. assassin powerhouse by level 50.

meh running still drains cores quite fast even with 3 points in the perk :/

Started it recently and only about 6 hours in but man is this game world depressing as fuck. Being fugly as hell and buggy doesn't help either but I'm still enjoying it a bit here and there. Fuck this engine though, for real.

Also my dog is mentally challenged cause he does the stupidest shit I've seen I swear lol.

I wanted to build a badass settlement so I used the "unlimited settlement size" mod and got myself all the needed materials via console commands, but because you gain experience for every item you build and because I spent so many hours building my settlement with my unlimited supplies, I leveled up 5 or 6 times in the process. I'm not gonna add any perks but I wonder if you get stronger with a level up even when you don't level up any perk or stat?

Depressing because it's badly designed, or depressing like Fallout 3's atmosphere?

This BoS is made up of dicks...but do Railroad and Institute have any epic missions?

It took me a lot longer than that before it did. I was kind of down on it after the first day. But then it really fucking clicked with me. It's getting close to being my favorite Fallout. Definitely my favorite Bethesda game. Wish you could have a companion plus Dogmeat though.

Level 8 now and I'm feeling it more, understand the mechanics better, using the quick travel etc

Odd question, but is the new quest sound still in from Fallout 3? The rumbling sound, kinda like a boiling kettle that's also on fire.

Need some help on the main quest here.
just met Vergil, then went to kill a Synth Courser, then brought the chip back to Amari, and she says that I need to follow the Freedom Trail to meet the Railroad or something. How? No markers are marked on my map for that quest.

Anyone?

Is there any good information on how power works? I'm so frustrated trying to figure it out

I made a generator and connected it to a power pylon but my house still doesn't seem to have power

OMG! Please tell me I can't pick just any Perk in any order if I have enough SPECIAL in a given column. Pleeease. I couldn't live with the fact that I just put several points into Perks that I wouldn't have picked if I didn't thought they were necessary for Hacking and Lock-Picking.

After hours of exploring, finally did a story mission which took me back to a place I had already cleared. Unfortunately, some of the things I killed miraculously came back to haunt me again.

It's nice you can explore things before the missions actually go there, I just wish there was a little consistency if it's a future mission related place.

Supply Lines - Does it take time to set up or is it instant?

Once setup, will I be able to see all my workshop stash between the two locations in either inventory or will both inventories just be magically used when I need to build something?

So is the best way to progress in the early stages to just stick to the settlement missions? When I started the game one of the first quests I got was to go to diamond city. I made it there then I went to find the detective but was greeted by a bunch of super mutants, some blood bugs that mutated and wouldn't die, another mutated dog thing and a bunch of ghouls.

So I have now left diamond city area and have gone back to Sanctuary and just keep doing these settlement missions.

Yea, sounds like you fucked up.

I'm sorry. You can pick them in any order as long as they are fully-coloured and not greyed/outlined out.

Went back to sanctuary to do some early settlement mission stuff and I cannot figure out how to plant some damn food. I can't find dirt anywhere. What am I missing?

How are you supposed to handle the main quest of any Bethesda game (or any "open world" RPG really), considering that if you actually behave like a normal human would under the circumstance the protagonist is put in, you would miss 90% of the game?

It goes against all logic to go around creating settlements, or doing faction quests if they have absolutely no bearing on your number one goal (as the character). All of the sidequests or events are just for the player, not the character, so there's a pretty huge disconnect there. As lame as they can be, I kind of prefer the amnesiac protagonist contrivance for the first half of the game. At least that way you don't know you should be focusing on something else entirely.

I think it's pretty instant, like everything else.

I didn't know casual wear changes your charisma and gives you better prices to barter with merchants. O_O

yup. these days I rock my boss Pompadour wig for any charisma checks/shopping

its actually really annoying and immersion-breaking to have to constantly get out of my power suit when a yellow option pops up

you need to have fruits/vegetables in your inventory and then you go to resources->food in the workshop menu

Looks a bit like Adam Jensen.

Lol just made it to Elder Maxson
and listened to the speech. Everyone is like KILL THE SYNTHS!! While Valentine is standing in the back of the room like....

The backyard of every house is dirt. Plant it anywhere. When they say dirt they really mean grass.

I'm actually starting to enjoy the settlement part now. Especially after i'm thinking more vertically than horizontally when building. Still having a hard time getting my hands on enough steel.

SO I joined the Brotherhood pretty much straight away
did I fuck up/miss out on other shit because of it?

Quick question about main quest progression:
I must choose one of the faction questlines to undertake for the completion of the campaign, yes?

I'm assuming this means that the other 3 will become locked out to me at some point then?

Didn't get an answer earlier so I'll try again
