I'm getting corrupt save files on Xbox One, seems to be the last save I've done before switching off my xbox gets corrupted. Luckily I always have another autosave from a few minutes earlier so I haven't lost any real progress. BIt rubbish though.

Lol a NPC just tried to sell me another D
og. Looked like a Rottweiler I think.

Yeah, I encountered him too yesterday lol.
Now that you mentioned, where's actually
the dog
hang around?

How do I assign my citizens? :/

In workshop/build mode, hover your crosshair to a settler, press confirm (X/A) to assign him/her, then select the designated crops.

Is this shoulder armor do actually exist?
Except the leather armor one (which actually part of the arm), I still haven't found any other armors that have shoulder part. Is it separated in metal/combat armors, for example?

Yeah, same issue. I always keep double manual saves, though, so luckily I haven't lost anything so far.

It is. There's also a synth armor that's seperated into pieces.

You sealed up Sanctuary? Ugh, I would never have the patience for that. The fact that you cant let walls clips through eachother and they seem to auto-snap to a certain direction is just too painful for me.

You can just talk to them and trade weapons with them.

It's not that bad. You get most of the north side for free with the hedges and a lot of the south side for free with the river. The perimeter is huge but you're mostly plugging holes.

Trade with your settlers and give them a better weapon. Then press equip (T on PC) to make them equip that weapon. Then take away their current shitty gun.

And your defense rating has nothing to do with the population. It should just be more than the sum of your food and water resources.

Hmm I'm pretty sure I don't care enough about bringing good weapons back so maybe I'll just hope I get attacked so I can give the settlers some Raider weapons dropped right there...

Also shiiiiiit that's annoying on the Defense score. I usually have an Industrial water supply first in a settlement I care about, just so I don't have to think about it at all. I don't actually know if the ! on the status screen matter, but I wanna use it as a way of tracking which settlements I care about. The no-warning settlements should be "hero" settlements, but I don't have any yet.

the S
ilver
S
hroud
quest question.

What are my options here?

Can't give you any advice. Just enjoy it because it's one of the best quests I've experienced so far in this game.

i saved right before the elevator and did everything I could to save him. I had no luck, even after head shotting the guys that kidnapped him in VATS. he still died

Right, like I said, other than "Minecraft", it doesn't really seem to serve a point. I would rather be exploring than spending hours on something that doesn't have any real payoff. On top of that, it doesn't follow logic that your character would be doing this anyway instead of looking for their son (if he's even still around due to not knowing exactly when he was removed).

Then go explore.

How do I assign my citizens? :/

In workshop mode select a citizen then select a resource so they'll work it. While they're selected you can also banish them to other settlements or set them on caravans if you have Local Leader. There's an item under Resources > Misc, I think, that's a bell you can ring to summon all your citizens to one place. It helps when you're trying to manage them (but not much...).

Most of the early Minutemen quests actually explain the workshop mode. It's weird that they just drop you in without that tutorial though. I didn't even realize about recruitment beacons until like ten hours in. Why did they file the secret most important object under Electircal > Misc.?

That being said I do think the game has some failings judged by its own merits, particularly the writing and acting. No real way to dance around it; I fucking hate everything. Or not even hate. It's boring. The quests are boring, the characters are boring, the dialogue is boring, the dialogue trees barely exist, I don't want to talk to anyone, I don't feel any authenticity or weight in emotions behind anything anybody says, etc etc. It's impossible for me to give the slightest fuck about anything going on because the characters, narrative, and dialogue are so flat and dull. Bethesda really fucking stinks in this department, transforming their games for me into more of a big sandbox to fuck around in and see shit. Which is fine because so far that stuff is good, but narrative/characters/dialogue still play a big part in the overall package and it's a shame Bethesda just keep fucking it up.

i am 40 hours in and what you're saying perfectly sums up the game for me. if anyone from Bethesda is reading this.. get Obsidian on the phone and have them do your next Fallout.

The only way I was able to save him was by convincing him to try to kill me first. Every other option he died.

Snipe the guy who is aiming at Kent or else he kills him he is the only one who will shoot Kent

But he said he wants to talk, but i can't talk with the guy, he shoots me as soon i get closer to him.

Well I'm actually more than 7 hours in (lol) and think the writing is pretty great. I love how your companion check on you to see if you're okay, and start blending in with the world around you. I don't know why people have such a problem about it. It's funny when it needs to be, the characters are believable, and I'm hating the forced player backstory less and less.

Their "storytelling" is much better in tableau. There's some really heavy scenes set up in various places especially if you pay attention to lootable items. Almost everywhere you see a skeleton, there's a little story to go with it.

Agree I haven't cared much for any of the main story missions -- though I'm not too deep into them. Some of the locations have been super cool though.

Something's wrong.
I enjoyed my most recent quest and got
Strong
as a companion, so I dismissed Dogmeat to the Red Rocket Station. Then I decided to dismiss Strong to Drive-in theater and headed back to the Station to find Dogmeat.

But he didn't show up. I built a dog house and slept for a few days but nothing.
Is this a possible glitch?

Wonderful. Every time I assign someone to work at a shop, they stand there for just a moment, and then walk away? What's the issue!

How far into the main story am I after I met
Virgil
?

And what happens after the last Main Quest? Can I finish stuff or does the game end?

try taking Jet, psycho, and equipping your best rifle before you exit the elevator. Crouch down and aim for heads
I almost pulled it off that way, but not quite.

Yeah, I've done that. I just elected to keep the entire waterfront wall-free, and didn't bother plugging up some of the bigger holes, instead building structures with turrets and guard posts there. Expanded my Power Armor garage and farm yesterday, nearing 20 settlers now.

In my 48 hours playing, however, it hasn't suffered a single attack. :lol

Writing in this game is mostly below average but every now and then I get positively surprised by some stuff, like when reading a backstory of some place or some random raider dialogue that I'm listening before I sneak attack them.

I just love how N
ick Valentine
starts talking to locals whenever you visit Diamond City.

The way the main character reacts to even the most insane situations is just so surreal, especially if you consider he basically got out the Vault like 3 days ago. Not to mention the ultra-casual counter-question to pretty much everything.

"...Minutemen?"
"...Raiders?"
"...Synths?"
"...Jet?"

Dude sounds beyond casual all the time, it's hilarious.

So I finished Fallout 4 and got the
Brotherhood
ending. I enjoyed the main story quest a lot more than I thought I would. One technical thing though
when I dropped into the corridor to get the reactor item needed to nuke The Institute the game dropped to sub-10FPS. There weren't any enemies near me either and it fixed itself well before there were any in my sights. Probably the only time I've experience that kind of stuff in the game. I played PS4 by the way.

I also found the quest B
lind
B
etryal
to be the most engaging quest from my playthrough.
Walking out of the bunker and seeing Maxson waiting actually got me to bust out an "OH SHIT"

For me dialogue is fine, but I much prefer the logs on terminals.

So many Let's Players skip the terminals and all the information on them.

It's like people forget every Fallout protag except the Courier has the same level of Wasteland experience. It's only because it's voiced it's most evident.

I've noticed every time I get a new companion, I would respond "no" when they asked to travel with me. I was never given an option on where to send them when I took that route

Where are all of my friends?! :'(

Reload an old save and you can get the other ending as well. Go with railroad/institute. Yeah, the frame rate slows down to a crawl in end game. It's really unfortunate.
I uninstalled the game in rage because my PS4 saves weren't loading anymore, was either getting the corrupt message or spawning with no textures. I really don't know whether I love or hate the game. I'll play it later on PC.

I've got local leader 1, but my workshop inventories don't appear to be shared.

It took me forever to figure this out, but what you have to do is go into the workshop mode, select a settler, then(on PS4 at least) hit R1, which brings up a settlement menu to have them run supplies to. Apparently it is best to start something of a chain between settlements, as sending this person to a far away one is a bad idea.

Exactly. If you do voice acted protagonists you need to dial it up in order to keep things believable. This character got thrown
200 years into a post-apocalyptic future
and isn't even phased in the slightest.

The new dialogue system isn't helping much in that regard either, when most options are

- Huh?
- Sarcasm
- Yes
- No

How does this character not have a million questions? Might be flogging a dead horse because the game is what it is, but so far the narrative requires a suspension of disbelief beyond what I'm capable of.

You've covered up the sign! Visitors need to know that they've arrived at a respectable settlement and not some random dump. That's, like, wasteland branding 101!
I'm super curious to see how some truly obsessive town planners are going to transform those places.

Can I just transfer all my junk to a workbench and use it for crafting from there, or does it have to be in my inventory for me to have access to it?

Let's be honest, would anyone in a waste land actually stand there and want to answer 20 questions with more subquestions while right between heated combat?

Everyone in earlier Fallout games seems to have been very patient.

Piper dislikes the very concept of you entering Covenant,
a town that hates synths so much they make you take a test to get in. She runs a fucking newsletter about how scary robots are! This should be her paradise!

she is very friendly to nick and mentions in dialogue that she dont actually mind synth that much lol.

doing the covenant after i have joined
the railroad
is funny. Because i already know
who the old man stock is and the possibility of his "daughter" being a synth is extremely high

Mild location spoilers:

Holy shit at vault 75, the story there was pretty depressing, loved exploring it though

I just can't get enough of this game, I enjoy it a truckload more than Fallout 3.
