Ronda Rousey: I can beat Mayweather in a no-rules fight.

Can beat mayweather in a no rules fight.

Cant beat holm in an MMA fight.

so happy she got humiliated and knocked out. The spoiled brat bad sport routine can only go on for so long until you get humbled.

Was watching the fight with a bunch of other Vancouver-Gaffers at a bar... I'm not a UFC guy but I'm familiar enough with Rousey. Holm walks out and I tell one of the guys "Know what? I hope she wins. Not because I'm invested, but because the upset would be so fucking amazing to watch."

And then she won.

I was laughing so hard at EVERYONE in the place freaking the fuck out. It was amazing.

No. She looked like a amateur standing up last night. Double H picked her apart, it almost looked like choreographed movie.

Nope. Just fact men are significantly stronger. I would even bet on an male amateur mma fighter to kick her ass

Not that I think she can defeat anyone in the planet, but there's more to fighting than strength. Strength only matters if both fighters have about the same ability.

This is extremely satisfying. Mayweather handled it with class, refuse to acknowledge her and give her a platform.
She's unprovel heckler with lots of words, MW made sure it remained that way.

i don't know anything about mma and i have never seen a full fight, but i saw rousey get knocked out and i have a random question: is there some rules when someone punches someone multiple times when they're on the ground after being kicked in the head? couldn't you very easily cause some real damage doing that?

My completely uneducated guess is it evens out. MMA fighters jump on them to end the fight ASAP, get 2-3 seconds of hits in while the opponent is dazed and can't defend themselves and the ref stops the fight.

If they waited, like in Boxing, fighter could get knocked down concussed, get up, get knocked down concussed again, get up and so on, would do a lot of long term brain damage.

It's up to the refs discretion. Basically, there isn't much difference between getting punched standing up and whilst on the floor. If it's clear that the person isn't going to recover from the hits or isn't blocking then the ref would step in. As far as whether causing real damage would happen, well anytime you hit someone in the face there is a chance of it but generally speaking the fight is over and stopped before anything can happen. Generally speaking, most people claim that MMA is actually safer than boxing for the reason that there are actually less strikes and the ground game (wrestling) plays a very important role. Whereas with boxing, there are a ton of punches and jabs on the upper body along with the face. It all adds up. It might look more intimidating but the fights are shorter and you'll take in less damage overall.

i hate to take the side of human piece of garbage mayweather but yeah Rousey would get KTFO in seconds. That should be clear to anyone now.

Got online this morning and this is the first thing I see. Rhonda started believing her own hype. I think she thought she was gonna roll up up on ol' girl like she did everyone else, but homegirl had other plans. LOL

I love how my post was the last post of the thread before getting bumped lol.

Yes, sure Ronda. I guess no challenges at all will fuck with your mind in the long run while all the "yes men" in your corner fill your head with bullshit..

Her boxing is ordinary at best, her defense is garbage and her footwork is inexistant. Mayweather has outstanding boxing, impeccable defense and more than enough footwork to circle out of her clinch attempts while peppering her with jabs, straight and whatever the fuck he wants.

She'd get smacked around. Sure she could get leg kicks in, but they certainly are not infallible and have been timed with strikes again and again. And when's the last time you've ever seen ronda throw some?

And how it explains pretty well what happened last night and what would most likely happen with any decent striker.

She would get eaten alive as soon as she tries to go for the only thing that could win her the fight - clinch, takedown, and judo on the ground. Problem is she loses 10/10 going for that. Floyd is too quick on his feet, too knowledgeable about positioning, and his punches are overwhelmingly fast. He's keeping this above the ground at all times and he only needs 1 punch.

It reminds me of Anderson Silva's defeats. The other fella wasn't afraid of him and Silva went home with a broken leg.

So much for the hype machine.

Yup, this. I think people who seriously think Ronda would win have watched too many animes and movies. The gap in strength between men and women is absolutely enormous, that's why it's especially despicable when men hit them.

Not that I think she can defeat anyone in the planet, but there's more to fighting than strength. Strength only matters if both fighters have about the same ability.

That's pretty naive. There's some strength differentials that can't be overcome with skill. Hell, even the women's Olympic hockey team actually had trouble taking on high school boys (and lost one of the three games they played).

And men aren't just a lot stronger than women. They are much faster, and way more durable. The suggestion that Rousey or any female UFC player could beat any male athlete in a fight was naive at best, and offensive at worst as it diminishes the physical disadvantage women have against men that makes protecting them so important. Y'all needed a reality check.

They make the boys team play without checking also to help them out.

When Rousey clinched/grappled Holmes it was done in consequence of taking a punch or a kick. That's a disaster situation. And it's interesting Holmes connects later in the match are telegraphed, and yet Rousey couldn't defend them.

It'd be interesting to know if Ronda's stance of beating Mayweather will have changed after that fight, she obviously wouldn't publically mention it though. It sure has people who backed her questioning themselves.

Technique matters greatly. And she hasn't got that either. She has a couple of moves. If those moves fail, what you saw last night happens. And it would happen repeatedly against trained male fighters. Thank god the aura of invincibility is gone. Now maybe people will stop that moronic "she can beat male fighters" refrain.

Lol at people saying she could beat Mayweather. Ronda should hire a boxing coach to get down basics before fighting again. The blueprint to beat her is already in place.

Ronda beating the most skilled boxer of all time? She punches the air like she's just inhaled 10 packages of Pop Rocks. She wouldn't touch him like Floyd would tag her repeatedly.

A bunch of pink hairs told me she'd beat FLOYD MAYWEATHER. Sweet Jesus.

Band wagon fans, plastics etc. They just jump on whatever trend is ongoing and ride it until its over. No matter how monumentally stupid, Buzzfeed and Gawker feed their ignorant views.

"Hey i like Ronde Rosy, James Lebronson, Tom Brody, i like sports, i watch a few clips on YouTube once a while! Wooo go team!"

Hack frauds, as Red Letter Media would put it

I remember being in this thread and a bunch of ignorant people telling me Ronda would actually beat one of the greatest male boxers of all time.

Lmfao thats Neogaf for ya.

God bless you for the bump.

Strength isn't the only difference though. Male athletes on average tend to be faster for both sensory reactions:

and muscular reactions:

As well as sustaining far less injuries (roughly 7 times less for knee injuries according to the above link).

The whole Ronda-Mayweather thing never really made any sense, she's a very skilled Judoka but the speed and strength advantages he has would be virtually impossible for her to overcome.

Ronda got really sloppy as the fight went on. Looks like she was counting on certain moves to work and when they didn't she got frustrated and had nothing else to work with.

That dodge by Holm that had Ronda on one knee was slick.
