I'd have to watch the series over again to really know what ark I liked the best.
So where's Piccolo in strength right now, roughly?
Am I pushing it to say SSJ2 Kid Gohan level?
Probably just below that and in the upper third of the cast power wise. If there were a list it would probably be something likeSo where's Piccolo in strength right now, roughly?

Cell saga gave us Android 16. Dude was a true hero.

Cell saga got me into DBZ.I remember seeing it for the first time... there was a lot of tension and mystery between future Trunks, the Androids and of course the eventual battle with Cell. Not only that, but seeing other characters get their chance to actually do things was great too. Just a well rounded arc, all things considered.
Alright, I'll stop.
I'll watch this just to answer all of my questions.
The next time I post in here I'll be caught up.

Main issue with the Cell saga is that a lot of people had to act incredibly dumb for the events to fold as they did.
Like Vegeta letting Cell turn Perfect. Or Goku giving Cell a Senzu bean.
Then again it's par for the course... Goku did let Frieza power up to max while the whole planet was about to blow up LOL!
Goku is pretty dumb and a bad father, he basically is uneducated and has brain damage. Ive been watching the Japanese version of Z for the first time lately and while Kai in english did a better job portraying him like an idiot, hes a super dumb ass in the Japanese version. Par for the course lol. All he cares about is fighting people as strong as he can lol.
No but like in the Cell arc everyone was an idiot. Which is why it blows

Is there any chance of a timeskip in Dragon Ball Super
Piccolo vs 17 was ok, but it ain't even in the top 5 fights. Gimmie Goku vs Cell or Vegeta vs 18 over that one any day.
Goku giving Cell a senzu was dumb, but Vegeta letting Cell turn Perfect was in character. Bro just became a super sayain and his ego got the biggest beatdown of his life by 18. After the Hyperbolic Time Chamber he was feeling invincible. Semi-Perfect Cell couldn't even touch him. What was absorbing one more "weak" android gonna do for him? Vegeta let his ego get the best of him and he paid the price.
The vast majority of arcs in DB are separated by timeskips
Tien was only ever worthwhile in DB. After that he was a waste of space.
It's just cool to see someone who continues training and putting his life on the line in spite of not getting handled free power ups, unlike everyone else, who just gave up.
I hope you're right, but I kind of doubt it. Where can they even go after exploring different universes? To me it sounds like that arc was the main idea behind the series, and I wouldn't be surprised if they ended it after that.Hell, in Super we had a skip of 3 months between Episode 14 and 16, and then another 6 between 16 and 17, an indeterminate amount of time passes between 18 and 19 and we are about to get another 4 month skip.
If the series goes past the Universe 6 arc I would not be surprised if it jumps to after the End of Z honestly.

It totally would. They should have put a Dr. Gero cameo in the 1996 movie "Dragon Ball: Path to Power", which retells the Red Ribbon Saga with GT artstyle. It would have been a nice touch.
It's just cool to see someone who continues training and putting his life on the line in spite of not getting handled free power ups, unlike everyone else in the same situation, who just gave up. It's a shame though that him being underpowered forces him to go with Kikoho spam all the time, so we don't get stuff like the multiple arms or copies, since stuff like that wouldn't even be able to scratch whoever he's facing. Maybe Super at least will remember to add those techniques for the grunt battle, unlike the movie?
It's just too bad his girlfriend died in a bar and wasn't wished back because Toriyama Forgot.
...I wish Lunch was still a character.
That's anime-only, and Super taking place 6 months after Buu kinda erases Goku & Friends Return (actually, that explains why Tarble wasn't mentioned) as proper continuity.Wait, what. Launch is seen at the end of the Buu saga and again in Son Goku and Friends Return

She was legit forgotten in the manga.
It was a joke.Sure, but she didn't die is what I meant. You could also make a case that Toriyama has worked on an endorsed both Super and the new movies, effectively creating two distinct but equally valid canons.
DBZ -> Super Manga/Anime
DBZ -> Goku & Friends -> BoG -> RoF
The cell/android saga was definitely the best arc from the minute future trunks arrived until cell's defeat. Very rarely was I ever invested from beginning to end, but I thought the events unfolded quite nicely. I also like that almost every important character had awesome moments.

Piccolo vs. 17 is legit one of the best battles in the series. No power up nonsense, at least during the fight - just straight up battle tactics and awesome moves.
Of course he kikoho spams. Goku showed him how useless all his other attacks were.
I didn't know.
I DIDN'T KNOW!!
Cell saga got me into DBZ.
I had watched Saiyan/Freeza on and off with my friends, but then I noticed promo material of another Super Saiyan (with a sword) and got instantly interested. Cell saga has its problems, but it's an extremely well rounded and well told story arc overall. Dr. Gero is kind of hamfisted in there, but the callback to Red Ribbon was really cool. The idea of fighting against fate is one of my favorites (See: Chrono Trigger, Lavos). Vegeta and Bulma's son being a super polite awesome warrior from the future was also totally unexpected on so many different levels, but totally awesome.
The second form Cell bits are where it suffers, IMO. Vegeta being a huge asshole and Trunks making a fool of himself is all that really happens, although Tien had a brief moment of glory. First form Cell was the most unique and creepy villain in the series, almost giving off a horror vibe, and Perfect Cell had the honor of fighting Gohan in his first real battle of the series, finally fulflling all of those potential hints that were dropped since he first appeared (and making quite a spectacle of it in the process)
The Androids themselves get underrated quite a bit, too. Vegeta's humbling defeat against 18 was fun to see as Vegeta was being a completely arrogant bastard up until that point, and it really drove home how powerful the Androids were. Piccolo vs. 17 is legit one of the best battles in the series. No power up nonsense, at least during the fight - just straight up battle tactics and awesome moves.

Gotta admit, I laughed at Goku's reaction when piccolo says to him that gohan is going to lose because he doesn't have the thirst for battle, and that gohan is wondering why his father isn't helping him.
Piccolo only gets stronger with fusions?
I remember Piccolo vs 17 because in the ocean dub, Scott McNeil's Piccolo powers up with a power metal screech.
