Xenoblade X Eurogamer Preview: Maybe 2015's Most Impressive Open World

I like the level limit, because part of the fun (for me) in the first Xenoblade was to fight overleveled enemies.

Will be fun to see what setups and strategies people come up with to beat enemies that are way higher than the non-mech cap.

Anyone else having trouble downloading the patches? I tried 3 times, and when it gets around 8gb, it displays an error, says the data is corrupted, and the only option is to delete it all.

I tried downloading only the first two patches, and it went well. It finished alright. I then tried to download the latter two, but they don't show as a separate download in the queue, they merge together with the one that was already there. It then went up to around 8gb again, and displayed the same error. Now I have to delete them all again since they merged together and the patches don't display in the data management screen, so even the patches that I did manage to download got screwed in the process.

I remember in Xenoblade Chronicles I had basically ruined an old Nopon couple's marriage because I was too lazy to get the rare but better ingredients for the drink. I still feel bad about it.

I actually remember this quest. I hated it because it auto-locked me into the bad ending since I already had the bad ingredients when I accepted the quest. I generally liked how Xenoblade completed your side quests automatically if you already had the necessary items, but this was one instance where it messed up my Affinity Chart.

Well, uh...here's a review from moviepilot if anyone's interested: http://moviepilot.com/reviews/3652527?lt_source=external,manual,manual

I read your post then clicked on the link, then I backed out the linked to ask... Really movie pilot? Never heard of them. Now I'll go to read the hopefully spoiler free review.

Edit: why mention the Final Fantasy series at all and mention the Xeno Series is your second favorite series all time? yeah buddy your review won't be bias at all.

Edit 2: I kind of like how he seperates his reviews into portions.

I'm having the same issue (but I think mine occurred past 8gb? Can't remember) when downloading by letting WiiU goes into standby.

On my 3rd try I leave the WiiU on with the Download Management app opened (so I can MONITOR the download activities) and it successfully downloaded all the patches.

Just FYI -- if anyone wants the Xenoblade Chronicles X Collector's Edition Guide, you can get it for $15.69 on Amazon right now. Just add it to your cart and use the coupon Holiday30 --- it gives you 30% off one hardcover book.

Awesome! I got it shipped to my house for less than the price!

I set my system to download the patches while I was at work today and I just came home to find that I recieved an error and had to delete it all. I'm going to try downloading them all individually and see where that gets me.

Can I use this on an existing order?

I didn't thoroughly read the review since I'm avoiding spoilers. Looked at it again after reading your post.
ha, here's the summary paragraph and score (no spoilers)

"Xenoblade Chronicles X was given the task of bringing the Xeno series to the next generation of Nintendo consoles- and it definitely succeeded! With a world larger than you could ever imagine, and so much to do in it, you'll find yourself playing X for hours on end with ease!

Whether you're an offensive player, taking the fight straight to your enemies, or a defensive player, Xenoblade Chronicles X lets you play it the way you want to play it—all while providing a great story to follow!

9.6
/10!

Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out on December 4 for the Wii U!

You can follow me on Facebook or Twitter for more awesome articles if you enjoyed this one!"

I am totally doing Pandaman with Adam Howden's voice.

Now, I need to know, is there a bamboo themed blade in the game?

I never knew how much I wanted a Panda Shulk.

How good are we expecting that guide to be? I haven't bought a guide for a game in years since the information is so readily accessible online, but I feel like buying this just because it's limited, it's hardcover, and it's on sale. Did these guys have the game so early that they were able to 100% the game to make a guide? I don't really understand it.

I'm now thinking I might choose Reclaimers as my division rather than Pathfinders. Data probes is my top priority, but I can't decide if I'll get more satisfaction out of finding new locations or finding White Whale parts. I'm now leaning towards the latter, plus the perk from Reclaimers seems pretty good. Then again, there's Mediators...

Thanks! Cancelled and reordered with the discount. This makes me feel even better about my decision to buy it.

I'm not 100% sure on how it works these days, but I think Prima has had a deal with Nintendo ever since Nintendo Power stopped making guides. I believe Nintendo provides them the game well in advance to write them. I don't know much about how good Prima guides have been in recent years (especially since they started doing these Collector's Editions), so maybe someone else can answer that.

Thanks a lot for this! I was on the fence before about ordering the guide, but I can't pass it up for $16. Hardcover and limited, too.

I still haven't decided on that yet... I feel like the one that gives increased drop rates would be the most useful, but I dunno... More damage, more defense... meh, that's fine and all, but probably not incredibly useful. Of course, I have no idea how much it increases the drop rate.

What has me reconsidering is reading in that moviepilot review that some missions are changed by which division you belong to. I don't know. There's just too much to keep track of. I'm going to need that guide to read up on the systems and learn all about the consequences of my choices before I make them. Also, that eManual is going to be my friend.

Oh, by missions, do you mean the main story quests? Or are there just "Normal Quests" that are added depending on which division you choose?

Thanks. Picked one up.

Only my second new game guide, and 4th overall, after picking up a Paperback Smash Brothers 4 guode to qualify for free shipping at Best Buy.

It's over 500 pages and comes with the cloth at least.

No idea. I've posted the relevant quotes here from the review in spoiler tags below (not really spoilers for anything, but I don't know the standards of the people who read this thread):

There are eight divisions in total: Curator, Harrier, Interceptor, Mediator, Outfitter, Pathfinder, Prospector and Reclaimer. Each Division has its own set of support effects and objectives, and missions may slightly change depending on which Division you join.

For example, if you're a Prospector your job will usually focus heavily on finding resources such as minerals. But if you decide to become a Harrier, your job will usually focus on taking down dangerous monsters.

You can choose your own weapons, skills and party members—and the Division you choose can effect and change mission requirements.

Can't afford to not pick it up now at that price. If Amazon turns out to be right and the SE won't get here till the 8th then its going to take some immense willpower to not spoil myself those four days before.

Emailed amazon to see if I could get it applied to my order. I ordered the book when I still had my trial for Amazon Prime and don't want to lose the free two day shipping. The book was already discounted to $22 but the extra discount would be nice.
