Play-Asia says SJWs to blame for DOAX3 not coming west

My ex-girlfriend really wanted DOAX2 (we played DOA together). I remember going to Gamestop and buying her a copy of the game while she waited outside because she wasn't feeling well. The clerk gave me the stink eye the entire time and I realized later he thought I was forcing my girlfriend to wait while I bought myself DOA Xtreme.

you should have thrown down a magazine rack, walked out and ordered it from play asia

It's not like they're wrong or anything. I have no doubt anita would have said something about sexism and whatnot if it came out.

Even given the super remote chance that she would have... that's not going to stop a game from selling to a bunch of people who were already going to buy it. Stop blaming Anita for Publishers decisions.

A critic would critize a game. Why did noone had this idea before? I can already imagine it. Writing articles about videogames. Making videos about videogames. Doing awardshows about videogames.
Someone get on this, this has potential!

a person on the internet would have had an opinion

better shut it all down, just in case

okay i've made at least five constructive analyses about sexuality today with proper punctuation - let me have at least one snarky lowercase post

Did you guys hear how Jeff Gerstmann personally created a shitstorm against Fallout by talking about how glitchy and janky it can be?

Bethesda said they probably won't release any more games because of him. He ruined video games.

Jesus what did Anita start?

Why did we let this happen gamers?

Never in my life I would have imagined that someday a thread fpr a DoA Extreme game will go as long as 58 pages, wow.

I also like PlayAsia better when I thought as them as this faceless, un-living storefront, instead of this sarcastic jackass firing up random anime pictures.

The game doesn't have to come out in America for people to react to it, either.

It's not like there's subtlety in the game that can only be grasped by actually handing Kasumi the venus bikini.

"boy I sure am excited to buy DOAX3 and look at some polygonal tits today!"
*checks twitter feed*
"oh look Feminist Frequency put out a new video"
"w-w-wWHAT??? This game about women rolling around on a beach wearing masking tape over their genitals and occasionally playing volleybal is... SEXIST?? I had no idea! Ugh Koei Tecmo, you have LOST a customer."

it's very odd reading patrick klepek's article about this in which he notes that nobody can actually find or cite this backlash against DOAX3 except vaguely pointing at these darn PC kids these days, and then half the comments section (yeah, i know) is people going "wow, it's a shame that people complained about this until KT canceled it. ever try just ignoring something if you don't like it, feminists????"

This happened to me don't joke

To be honest... i always thought that this was always the case. Girls running around in bikini's with their breasts bouncing around will cause some sort of uproar in today's western culture.

We honestly don't need her for that...
yeah who needs anita... when you have me to make analyses!!!

Is it true that there are more depictions of women being sexually assaulted in the media than them enjoying consensual sex? I can say with confidence that there is far, far, far more instances of maximally sexualized non-sexual situations than healthy depictions of sex, but I'm not sure if it us true there are more depictions of sexual violence and non-consensual sex than depictions of healthy sex: anyone have some general statistics or insight into this?

I feel like a discussion of how to better portray healthy sexuality and move away from this trend of tabooing healthy sexual content in favor of extremely sexualized versions of everyday life where sexual action is not desired and unhealthy behavior is modelled and contributes to societal attitudes, but I'd like some more statistics and insight before making a thread.

it's not that odd when you have the same thing occurring in this thread

There was that one tweet with 4 likes. Truly pivotal.

reality has a well known liberal bias

so they've taken it upon themselves to "unskew" reality in the comments section by conjuring up an imaginary world to base their arguments in

Tilting at straw windmills has pretty much been the GooberGrape modus operandi.

That's the thing isn't it? These people are coming out of the woodwork to defend this game to the death when there was never any actual attack on it in the first place. Aside from snarks on Marie Rose, I never saw anything really opposing this game, certainly no huge SJW movement to censor boobies and kill sexual video games.

It was a phantom backlash that now suddenly has people fighting because of some ignorant tweet. I feel like we've been here before.

Jeff Gerstmann is still a threat

is this why there are so many threads in off-topic asking why we don't have a safe space for a certain pattern of radical beliefs that don't have a basis in reality to thrive uncriticized?

is this why half the country "doesn't believe in" climate science, evolution, and vaccines (to be fair, extreme liberals AND the conservative frontrunner deserves criticism for this one)?

is this why one end of the political spectrum wants to deport 11 million people, force mexico to build a wall, have a three page tax code with a flat tax, and create a mandatory database of muslim citizens?

safe spaces taken to the extreme are like the anti-fox news: instead of creating an echo chamber of extreme hate, it's creating an echo chamber of extreme love (which isn't necessarily good either)

neither is desirable for critical discourse, but i'd say hateful rhetoric has more of an immediate negative impact on society: just a couple days ago there was a terrorist attack on a peaceful protest by white supremacists

BUT I DIGRESS, this thread is about people in their little safe spaces for hate pretending there was a massive backlash against a game they like so they can get offended and outraged about it

...I'm going to have to use this reversal of "safe space" rhetoric more in the future, I like it.

but yes, the recent rise in mocking "safe spaces" is because of this episode.

There should be a fucking mandatory test on every article to see if you actually read it before you can comment

It's weird seeing people trumpet South Parks newest season as edgy when the punchlines are all directed at a non-existent boogymen and then subsequently realizing that all their punchlines were like that. No one is offended and the only ones entertained are those who want, need, crave for someone to be offended.

Is this what growing up feels like?

South Park has been pretty right-wing extremist for a while now. They hate anyone who dares to speak for or argue about the rights and regards of the disenfranchised they constantly attack. And it's these ideals that are supported quite a bit by Gaters.

Safe space doesn't mean at all what it's argued to mean (and actually has existed for quite some time in various means) but HEY, A MINORITY CONSTANTLY ATTACKED IS OFFENDED OVER SOMETHING, THAT MUST MEAN THEY'RE OVERREACTING SO LETS MAKE BUZZWORDS TO BELITTLE THEM. Because hate group logic, I guess.

If SJW is an insult does that mean MRA is too?

MRA is a label that they happily adopt so not really. SJW however was pretty much always an insult aimed to attack people who dare to give a rat's ass about anything that the person using the term does not care for.

Hehehe I like it, far better execution than my own post.

Contrarian humor can be funny and it is important to still criticize beliefs you align yourself with - even if the Overton window has shifted so far right that "liberal" in America is the new "center" right now relative to the rest of the Western world. I don't think there is a threat of extreme left wing liberalism coming anywhere close to relevance in America, but it still good to criticize it for the health of the party... while noting that the equivalent statements from the right wing are being made by party frontrunners.

I even did chuckle a bit at the presentation of the video, even if it was very disingenuous about what a safe space is supposed to be (a place where you don't have to have constant "debates" about the validity of your sexuality with uninformed science deniers, from my experiences - yeah, you're stifling discourse in a sense, but this is like saying a biology class is a safe space away from young earth creationism).
