Xenoblade X Eurogamer Preview: Maybe 2015's Most Impressive Open World

I'm just crossing my fingers that the SE arrives on the 4th despite what the site says

Like I got my preorder in before it even sold out the first time, there shouldn't be any supply issues to warrant getting it at the very earliest Dec 10th

I'm not buying this game, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn ruined the Silent Hill HD collection and she made fun of the original Silent Hill 2 VA crew.

I love her voice acting but after that debacle, I can't stand her as a person.

If I didn't like the first game due to terrible fetch questing system or padding gameplay for the sake aka making it longer am I going to like this? Serious question btw. Are they making the quests more varied this time around? Looks to me this game offers certainly more customizaton, Playstyle variety and mechs to travel around the world fast and also mech combat.

I just googled about this and found nothing. What happened? Interviews about her involvement directing the HD re-voice was mostly about royalty issues regarding recasting, but no direct controversy or badmouthing.

There's still a large focus on quests, so probably not. Although if you liked the battle system and the exploration then maybe.

Is this spoiler heavy? I know almost nothing on this game besides the spoiler free streams from GameXplain and RPGSITE.

Looks like it's only battle footage with Lin, Elma and another side character, so it's only regular enemy spoilers I guess.

edit: The combat looks great, it kinda reminded me how I hated that "See the future" mechanic of the last game. I mean, it was interesting, but it interrupted the gameplay constantly similarly like picking up mega mushrooms in Ultra Smash. The combat in this game is definitely going to be way more enjoyable for me without that mechanic.

I'm actually going to miss the "see the future" mechanic (both from a gameplay perspective and story perspective). I thought it was fun trying to prevent disasters from happening once you saw them coming. I mean, yeah sometimes they did get spammed and you couldn't fast forward, but I still enjoyed it overall.

I'll miss the future sight for side quest items.

I will miss that mechanic dearly

I really like how the improved the rain effects in this game. In Xenoblade all it did was make things foggy and it has a pretty janky looking falling squares of rain texture. In this game it has all these mist and splashing effects. It's kind of similar looking to the effect in the tanker chapter of MGS2.

Maybe I worded that too strongly. The pause it caused in combat is the only part I really hated about it, it was pretty great outside the downtime it caused. Story-wise I wasn't a fan of how it kinda spoiled big events coming up, but it did set up for some cute plot twists so I didn't mind it that much.

I just really hate it when a game takes control away from the player, so I know I will enjoy this more. A fast-forward button in XC would've greatly increased my enjoyment of that game as well now that you mention it. Unnecessary downtime in games just bothers me a lot.

I definitely agree you should have been able to speed it up by pressing A or whatever a couple times. I didn't need to see the animation play out every single time lol

Worst part about the see the future mechanic was that it over road whatever song was playing in the battle and replaced it with its own garbage theme.

I understood what you meant from y ou r first post. After watching GameXplain spoiler-free videos yeah I think we're all going to miss the future sight for side quest items. It's something I felt the first Xenoblade got right.

I loved that mechanic. I would intentionally get into vision mode instead of heeling.

Well, the quests have been somewhat improved in quality, in the sense that they involve a lot more story, delving into the background etc of party members, or info the lives etc of NPCs, but if you really simplify it a lot of them are probably fetch quests of some sort or another in the end, just you might be more motivated with more significant story and implications to do many quests. There are still more mundane quests too if you did happen to like that, but if course you can pick and choose which quests you want to do.

"The one thing I don't like about Mira is that it's almost too good." :P

We will become like this crazies who loved Pandora in Avatar too much haha.

Cannot wait for this game, it feels like it's been so long

The epic announcement trailer in January 2013

The game skipping 2014 to 2015

And now here at the end of the year, finally

It's about time

I dont post very often, i just wanted to say i have been following this game for a while watching all the vids and reading as much info as i can (spoiler free stuff of course). And im very hyped about it.
XBCX sounds like its gonna be a hell of a world to explore with a ton of content to it. Definitely seems worth the price so far.

And I love that fan made trailer above.

I really hope this does well for Nintendo and makes some noise.
